HEDRICK

Joan G. Hedrick, 54, Versailles, died Aug. 25, 2002, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia.

She was born Aug. 20, 1948, in Bell Island, Newfoundland, Canada, a daughter of James and Mildred Cahill O'Brien.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mia Anne O'Brien and Georgina Cobb, both of Canada; three bothers, Rodney O'Brien, Versailles, and James O'Brien and Patrick O'Brien, both of Canada; four sisters, Linda Mueller, Bernice Noseworthy, Judy Fabris, and Mary Bennett, all of Canada; and two grandchildren.

The remains were cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

BESTGEN

Andrew M. Bestgen, 78, Tipton, died Aug. 28, 2002, at Tipton Manor.

He was born Jan. 14, 1924, in Cooper County, a son of George T. and Adelia Dueber Bestgen. He was married Oct. 14, 1946, in Pilot Grove, to Alice Zeller, who died June 9, 2001.

He was a lifelong resident of the Tipton community.

He operated Bestgen AG Services for 20 years and farmed in Cooper County.

He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and a 57-year member of Tipton Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include: one son, Dale Bestgen, Warrensburg; two daughters, Debra Imhoff, Plattsmouth, Neb., and Kelly Dockins, Jackson, Tenn.; one brother, George Bestgen, Grandview; one sister, Velma Franken, Tipton; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. The Rev. David J. Veit will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus service.

Memorials are suggested to St. Andrew's Cemetery Fund.

FOSTER

Services were today for Frances Elizabeth Foster, 95, Fulton, who died Aug. 27, 2002, at Callaway Community Hospital, Fulton.

She was born March 23, 1907, in Ashland, a daughter of James W. and Dora Hudson Burnett.

She was a cook at Fulton State Hospital, retiring in 1970. She also served as a foster grandparent for 20 years.

She was a member of Smith Chapel Methodist Church, Englewood.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

One son, Donald Foster, and two daughters, Dorothy Foster and Peggy Lou Cook, preceded her in death.

Graveside services were in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.

Arrangements were under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.

FROMM

Dollie H. Fromm, 83, Versailles, died Aug. 28, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born June 2, 1919, in Central City, Ill., a daughter of Albert and Bessie Doty Dugan. She was married in November 1941 to Milton Fromm Sr., who died June 25, 1995.

She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm.

Survivors include: one son, Milton Fromm Jr., Versailles; two daughters, Barbara Fromm and Rose Luvin, both of Versailles; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles. Pastor Keith Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-1:30 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

KEENEY

Services were today for Delbert Lee Keeney, 71, Camdenton, who died Aug. 26, 2002, at Doctors Hospital, Springfield.

He was born April 13, 1931, in Willis, Kan., a son of Samuel A. and Mertle M. Cumper Keeney. He was married in 1957 to Emma Jane Long, who died Nov. 1, 1999.

A graduate of Willis High School, Willis, he was a Navy veteran. He had lived in Kansas City, where he worked for a security company. He moved to Camdenton in the late 1960s and worked at Bob Happy Electric, Camdenton, retiring in the early 1990s. He later helped operate a family-owned day care facility. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and had been a Boy Scout leader.

Survivors include: one son, Gerald Keeney, Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Howard Keeney, St. Joseph, and Robert Keeney, Sacramento, Calif.; five sisters, Nellie Jeffery, Horton, Kan., Helen McConnaughey, Wheat Ridge, Colo., Gertie Soden, Hiawatha, Kan., Evelyn Fisher, Cincinnati, and Virginia Keeney, Kansas City; and one granddaughter.

Graveside services were in Claytonville Cemetery, Willis.

Memorials are suggested to Boy Scout Troop 29.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.

SMITH

Services were today for Nancy Kay Smith, 62, Gravois Mills, who died Aug. 27, 2002, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

She was born Nov. 18, 1939, in Richmond, Ind., a daughter of Harold and Lucille Abram Edwards. She was married Aug. 25, 1956, in Bloomington, Ind., to the Rev. Ronald Smith, who survives at the home.

She was a homemaker and later owned and operated Nancy's Antiques, Laurie.

She was involved in the Opened Door Christian Fellowship and the Walk on Water Faith Church.

Other survivors include: two sons, David L. Smith, Austin, Texas , and Daniel D. Smith, Eldon; three daughters, Deborah K. Neuzil, Montreal, and Dena Wallace and Tiny Hanlon, both of Camdenton; two brothers, Rickey Edwards, Lebanon, Ind., and Dean Edwards, Bloomington, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery, Laurie. Pastor Jerry Piker officiated.

Memorials are suggested to the Opened Door Christian Fellowship, Laurie.

Arrangements were under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

WOLKEN

Anton Herman "Tony" Wolken, 87, Osage Bend, died Aug. 28, 2002, at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.

He was born Dec. 15, 1914, in Osage Bend, a son of G. Herman and Catherine Backers Wolken. He was married Oct. 3, 1939, in Taos, to Margaret Carline Forck, who survives at the home.

He attended St. Margaret's School in Osage Bend. He was a farmer and worked at International Shoe Factory and Scruggs-Guhleman Lumber Company. He was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Osage Bend, and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Other survivors include: two sons, Robert L. Wolken and Harold Joseph Wolken, both of  Jefferson City; three daughters, Janet Mary Koetting and Marilyn Margaret Daledovich, both of  Jefferson City, and Linda Katherine Limbach, Eugene; four sisters, Regina Lueckenotte, Frances Bonnot, and Hilda Lueckenotte, all of  Jefferson City, and Mary Lueckenotte, St. Martins; 29 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

One son, David Herman Wolken, died Dec. 18, 1977. One grandchild also preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Osage Bend. The Rev. Dan Lueckenotte and the Rev. Robert Kraus will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Buescher Memorial Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9:30-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Osage Bend, Mo., Community Hospice of America or St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.

CUNNINGHAM

Chester James Cunningham, 44, New Bloomfield, died Aug. 29, 2002, at his home.

He was born April 19, 1958, in Hannibal, a son of Leon and Mary Greenough Cunningham. His parents survive in Fayette. He was married July 15, 1989, in Fayette, to Lorie E Zillig, who survives at the home.

He worked as a clerk for Gerbes, Fulton, and was a substitute teacher for the New Bloomfield school district. He was a maintenance worker for the Fulton State Hospital and graduated from Central Methodist College, Fayette.

Other survivors include: two brothers, Curt Cunningham, Tinton Falls, N.J., and Craig Cunningham, Fayette; and three sisters, Chris Diehls, Linda Daniels and Diana LeNoir, all of Fayette.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Providence Baptist Church, New Bloomfield. The Rev. Bill Wormsley will officiate. Burial will be in Summit Memorial Park, Holts Summit.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. today at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. Visitation will also be from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the church.

MASTERS

Mary G. Masters, 99, Cape Girardeau, died Aug. 29, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Aug. 22, 1903, in Jackson, a daughter of Milton W. and Margaret Campbell Gholson. She was married June 4, 1927, in Jackson, to Ernest P. Masters, who died April 16, 1984.

She attended Southeast Missouri State University. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 70 years, Southeast University Copper Dome Society, Order of Eastern Star, Wednesday Club and was a charter member of River Hills Garden Club.

Survivors include: one son, Frank M. Masters,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Mary Alice Carrell, Anderson, Ind.; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and one step great-great-grandchild.

One son, Ernest Ray Masters, died April 14, 1999.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Kabo Jr. and the Rev. Franc Guthrie will officiate. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
