BACLESSE

Buell Adam Baclesse, 86,  Jefferson City, died Aug. 29, 2002, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born July 16, 1916, in Osage County, a son of Henry and Pearl Morton Baclesse. He was married March 30, 1940, in Rolla, to Marjorie Pauline Butler, who died June 9, 1987.

He attended schools in Osage County. He worked for the Western Construction Company of Sioux City, Iowa, as an operator of heavy machinery. He worked on various construction jobs in the states of Missouri, Kentucky and Indiana until 1943 and was owner and president of the Rackers and Baclesse Lumber Company and Ardens Interiors from 1947-1985. He was a Navy veteran.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees. He was also a member of the American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5, where he was elected commander in 1956 and also served as commander of American Legion District 8 from 1958-1959. In 1965, he was elected department commander, Department of Missouri of the American Legion. He was also a member of the  Jefferson City Police Auxiliary; the V.F.W.  Jefferson City Post 1003; the 40 & 8 Locale 1292; the Seabee Veterans of American; the Kiwanis Club of  Jefferson City, where he was past president and past lieutenant governor of District 9; the St. Mary's Hospital Advisory Board, where he was a former chairman; the Missouri Division of Veterans Affairs from 1966-1972; chairman of the Division of Veterans Affairs from 1068-1970; chairman of the  Jefferson City U.C.F. in 1964; president of the Missourians for the Right to Work in 1966; National Right to Work Board in 1970;  Jefferson City Charter Commission in 1970 and the Home Savings and Loan Board from 1960-2000. He was president of the Missouri Net Work Inc. from 1972-1982. He was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1984.

Survivors include: two daughters, Arden Kay Steele, Villa Rica, Ga., and Arla Gay Qualls,  Jefferson City; one sister, Jewell Ramage,  Jefferson City; two grandchildren, four step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. The Rev. Mark West will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Foundation.

DISTLER

Mitchell Joseph Distler, 40, Henley, died Aug. 29, 2002, at his home.

He was born Dec. 30, 1961, in  Jefferson City, a son of Leroy R. and Eva Mae Brandt Distler, who survive in  Jefferson City.

He was married Oct. 31, 1986, in  Jefferson City to Teresa A. Smith, who survives at the home.

He was a graduate of Helias High School. He also attended Columbia College and Linn State Technical College.

He worked as a mechanic at Fabick and Co.,  Jefferson City, for 17 years. He worked most recently as a heavy equipment technical instructor at Linn State Technical College. He was also a licensed referee for the state youth soccer association.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Helias Council No. 1054, the Holy Name Society and a former parish council member and IOUE No. 513,  Jefferson City.

Other survivors include: one son, William Mark Distler; four daughters, Katherine Ann, Jennifer Mae, Nichole Michelle, and Christina Marie Distler, all of the home; two brothers, Michael L. and Matthew S. Distler, both of  Jefferson City; and one sister Maribeth Kaver, Henley.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Patrick Dolan and the Rev. Gregory L. Higley will officiate. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of floral arrangements, memorials are suggested to the Distler Children Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Weber and Sons Funeral Home, Russellville.

GRAFF

Ruth Anne Graff, 75, Boonville, died Aug. 31, 2002, at Ashley Manor Care Center, Boonville.

She was born Feb. 9, 1927, in California, a daughter of William A. and Anna Mary Miller Baker. She was married June 20, 1948, in California, to Wilbur T. Graff, who survives at the home.

She graduated from California High School in 1945 and attended Phillips University, Enid, Okla. She taught at Bethel School, near Jamestown, and worked at Farm Bureau Insurance and the Public Schools Retirement office.

A homemaker, she worked at Prairie Home School and as a secretary of the Cooper County Counseling Center for 10 years, retiring in 1992. She attended Pleasant Grove UCC, where she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Guild and church pianist as well as treasurer of the Cemetery Association for 25 years.

Other survivors include: two sons, Warren Wilbur Graff, Prairie Home, and Joseph Wendel Graff, Columbia; one brother, Charles Barker, California; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

One son, David William Graff, died in 1963.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services. Chester Marshall will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove UCC Cemetery, near Prairie Home.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

HAMMACK

Roger Dean Hammack, 62, Iberia, died Aug. 31, 2002, in Iberia.

He was born Jan. 6, 1940, in Iberia, a son of Archie U. and Mary Elizabeth Ferguson Hammack. His mother survives in Iberia. He was married Aug. 9, 1958, in Iberia, to Connie Sue Griffin, who survives at the home.

He owned and operated Roger Hammack Trucking. He was a charter member of the Iberia Lions Club and past president of the Missouri Dump Truckers Association. He attended Iberia United Methodist Church.

Other survivors include: two sons, Tim Hammack, Paola, Kan., and Kelly Hammack, Iberia; one sister, Joy Reichert, Osage Beach; one brother, Ferg Hammack, Iberia; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. RoseEllen Hoff will officiate. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to Roger Hammack Memorial Fund.

PARKER

Laura Jean Parker, 76,  Jefferson City, died Aug. 30, 2002, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged.

She was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Brookfield, a daughter of Jack August and Lois Paxton Barnes. She was married Feb. 14, 1947, in Brookfield to Charles Maurice Parker, who died March 12, 1994.

She was a graduate of Brookfield High School and Lincoln University.

She worked as an administrative assistant for several members of the state legislature and as a teacher with the Department of Correction for 12 years. She also worked for Jack and Jill children's clothing store, the Chamber of Commerce, and Central Bank.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the church's ladies circle and St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include: two sons, John M. and Tim Parker, both of  Jefferson City; one sister, Sharon Freeman, Marceline and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ernestine Louise "Tina" Meyer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Patrick G. Dolan will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Monday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

SLAWSON

Arnold Wesley "Wes" Slawson, 76, Iberia, died Aug. 30, 2002, at his home.

He was born Jan. 25, 1926, in Newburg, a son of Leonard and Offie Pointer Slawson. He was married March 17, 1982, in Reno, Nev., to Eleanor Reed, who survives at the home.

He was an Army and Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He worked for the Sands Hotel and Casino in Reno, until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Crocker VFW 4956.

Other survivors include: one son, Leonard H. Slawson,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Phyllis Ann Slawson, Hermiston, Ore.; two stepsons, Doug Love, state of Washington , and Jimmy Love, state of Oregon; one stepdaughter, Cindy Love, state of Washington ; four brothers, James Slawson and Lester Slawson, both of Rolla, George Slawson, St. James, and Ernie Slawson, Silex; two sisters, Hazel Travis, Sikeston, and Mary Grenier, Kirkland, Wash.; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Mark Skiles will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.

LUCKENOTTE

James J. Luckenotte, 70, Holts Summit, died Sept. 2, 2002, at his home.

He was born March 19, 1932, in St. Thomas, a son of Roman and Loretta A. Kolb Luckenotte. He was married Nov. 15, 1958, in Linn, to Lillian Schaefer, who survives at the home.

He was a 1951 graduate of St. Peter High School. He worked for the Missouri State Highway Patrol for more than 30 years as quality control coordinator until his retirement in 1989. He played the fiddle in various country bands for more than 50 years. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, VFW Post 1003, American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5 and the Knights of Columbus. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors also include: one son, Steve Luckenotte, Holts Summit.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church. The Rev. Brendan Doyle will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:30-8 p.m. today at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Holts Summit, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Andrew Church Building Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.

TUCKER

Lynn Joseph "Joe" Tucker, 57,  Jefferson City, died Sept. 2, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Feb. 6, 1945, in Phoenix, Ariz., a son of James E. and Daisy May Mansfield Tucker. He was married Dec. 19, 1998, in  Jefferson City, to Mary Crider Thompson, who survives at the home.

He graduated from high school in the state of California. He was a truck driver for most of his life and also drove the Magic School Bus for Scholastic Inc. in  Jefferson City. He was a member of Solid Rock Family Church, where he was active with the Kingsman and the Men's Ministry. He was a member of the Men's Accountability Organization. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include: two sons, Jeffery Tucker, St. Paul, Minn., and Curtis Tucker, Warrensburg; two stepsons, Randy Canter Jr., Belleville, Ill., and Shannon Thompson, Vienna; three daughters, Michelle Davis, Rocklin, Calif., Lindsay Tucker, Phoenix, and Kendra Tucker, Houston, Texas ; two stepdaughters, Beth Johnson, Oviedo, Fla., and Lana Germann, Vienna; two half brothers, Don May, Reno, Nev., and Bob May, Modesta, Calif.; six grandchildren; and nine step grandchildren.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Solid Rock Family Church.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.
