BURKETT
Dorothy Marie Burkett, 64, Jefferson City, died Sept. 5, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 1, 1937, in Cole County, a daughter of Peter J. and Clara Catherine Adrian Schnieders. She was married April 23, 1960, in Jefferson City, to William Turner Burkett, who died Nov. 30, 2001.
She was a 1955 graduate of St. Peter High School. She worked as a floral designer for Bishop's Florist, Coach Light Flowers & Gifts and Price's Florist. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a volunteer at St. Marys Health Center Auxiliary.
Survivors include: one son, Eric J. Burkett, Jefferson City; four daughters, Suzanne M. Bradley and Jill E. Winegar, both of Jefferson City, Joan M. Sherrow, St. Louis, and Stephanie N. Brizendine, Kansas City; four brothers, Paul Schnieders, St. Martins, Clifford Schnieders, Bill Schnieders and Fred Schnieders, all of Jefferson City; three sisters, Betty Stauffer, Independence, Pat Neuner and RuthAnn Higgins, both of Jefferson City; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Patrick J. Dolan and the Rev. Ignacio C. Medina will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Dorothy Burkett Memorial Fund.
VONDERAHE
Nina Virginia Vonderahe, 78, Holts Summit, died Sept. 5, 2002, at Villa Marie Skilled Care Center.
She was born Jan. 18, 1924, in Brunswick, a daughter of Frank and Alma J. Reed Muller. She was married Sept. 19, 1946, in Salisbury, to Raymond H. Vonderahe, who survives at the home.
She graduated in 1942 from high school in Salisbury. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Holts Summit. She was a past member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Marshall, where she was active in Legion of Mary and Altar Society. She was a past member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glasgow and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salisbury.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Jane E. Britton and Susan Vonderahe, both of Holts Summit; one brother, Frank Muller, Marshall; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salisbury. Fr. Philip M. Moriarty will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the church, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors in Jefferson City.
CUMMINGS
Jess Cummings, 76, Eldon, died Sept. 5, 2002, in Osage Beach.
He was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Clinton, a son of Jesse C. Sr. and Nellie Eunice Buchannan Cummings. He was married Dec. 22, 1951, in Osceola, to Carol Kay Hutsler, who survives at the home.
He graduated from Clinton High School and Central Missouri State University. He taught music at School of the Osage for 28 years. He was a member of the Lake Ozark Christian Church, serving as choir director. He was past president of the Lake Ozark Lions Club. He was a charter member of the Lake Area Community Orchestra, where he served as director for four years and played trumpet for the Capitol Kicks Jazz Band. He was a charter member of the Lake Jazz and a was member of the Missouri Music Educators, the Missouri State Teachers Association and the Missouri Band Masters.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Ginger Kyle Moore, California, and Mary Kay Quiett, Wausau, Wis.; two sisters, Betty Yessen and June Brownfield, both of Sedalia; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lake Ozark Christian Church. The Rev. James Pohl will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens in Barnett.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon.
Memorials are suggested to Lake Ozark Christian Church or the Cummings Scholarship Fund.
HOLCOMB
Robert A. Holcomb, 68, Camdenton, died Sept. 6, 2002, at his home.
He was born Jan. 14, 1934, in Los Angeles County, Calif., a son of Arthur and Ruth Simpson Holcomb. He was married April 12, 1965, in Las Vegas, to Patricia "Pat" Osborn, who survives at the home.
He worked as a quality assurance supervisor for the aero space industry. He was an Air Force veteran.
Other survivors include: two sons, Steven M. Holcomb, San Marcos, Calif., and David V. Holcomb, Wheaton, Ill.; one sister, Ruth Arbo, Lee's Summit; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at a later date. Inurnment will be in the Garden of Prayer at Hedges Cemetery in Camdenton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home in Camdenton.
MIRTS
Marshall Wayne Mirts, 88, Fulton, died Sept. 5, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Feb. 1, 1914, in Fulton, a son of Thomas B. and Anna McKim Mirts. He was married Jan. 16, 1942, to Ethel Schmid, who survives at the home.
He worked as a kiln fireman for Harbison-Walker for 30 years, retiring in 1977. A farmer, he served as treasurer for Callaway County Water District 2 and was a member of Hams Prairie Christian Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Marsha Clingman, Holts Summit; one brother, Delbert Mirts, Fulton; three sisters, Dorothy Norris, Fort Worth, Texas , June Pinkerton and Faye Gowin, both of Fulton; three granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Entombment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to Hams Prairie Christian Church.
ROBINSON
Phillip Robinson, 62, Russellville, died Sept. 5, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born May 26, 1940, in La Grande, Ore., a son of Wilford D. and Dorothy Catron Robinson, who survive in Osage Beach. He was married Sept. 12, 1998, to Billy Shoults, who survives at the home.
He worked as a law officer for the Camden County Sheriff's Department and Missouri Highway Patrol and as a security officer for Ft. Osage. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church.
Other survivors include one stepson, Wilfred Livingston, Fulton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hedges Funeral Home in Osage Beach. Burial will be in Hawkins Cemetery in Brumley.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today.
SOMMERER
Services were Aug. 31 for Kevin L. Sommerer, 29, Snellville, Ga., who died Aug. 28, 2002.
He was born Jan. 28, 1973, in Jefferson City, a son of Alvin and Beverly Sommerer, who survive in Snellville.
He was a 1996 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was an electrician and a member of Oak Road Lutheran Church in Snellville.
Survivors include: one brother, Christopher Sommerer, Loganville, Ga.; paternal grandmother, Venita Sommerer, and maternal grandfather, Alva Engelbrecht, both of Jefferson City.
Burial was in Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville.
Memorials are suggested to the Community of Grace Building Fund or the Lutheran Ministries of Georgia, 2905 Oak Meadow Drive, Snellville, Ga. 30078, or to the charity of the donor's choice in memory of Kevin L. Sommerer.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tom Wages Funeral Service, Snellville.
MARTIN
Larry K. Martin, 60, California, died Sept. 6, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born April 9, 1942, in Cooper County, a son of Loy and Sarah C. Dunham Martin. He was married June 25, 1960, in Clarksburg, to Phyllis Baker, who survives at the home.
He worked in construction and was self-employed as a fertilizer/lime truck driver for 35 years. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and attended California High School.
Other survivors include: three sons, Randy Martin and Rusty Martin, both of California, and Ronnie Martin, Clarksburg; three brothers, James Martin, California, Gary Martin, Belle, and Stanley Martin, Jefferson City; six grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. The Rev. Kevin Blackburn will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Fund, c/o Dean Birdsong, 27626 Highway H, Clarksburg, Mo. or a charity of the donor's choice.
HIBDON
William Robert "Bob" Hibdon, 93, Laurie, died Sept. 6, 2002, at the Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.
He was born Dec. 12, 1908, in Old Gladstone, a son of Billie and Delia Ann Moore Hibdon. He was married Aug. 30, 1930, to Eva Purvis, who survives at the home.
He worked as a farmer and painter. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 320 A.F. & A.M., Versailles, Order of the Eastern Star 410, Versailles, North Shore Shrine Club, York Rite 10, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple and was a charter member of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurie.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Carolyn M. Burks, Kansas City, and Sharon K. Washburn, Rodgers, Ark; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert J. "Bobby Jack" Hibdon; and one grandchild.
Services will be 11 a.m., Monday at Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church. The Revs. Fred Royer and Jim Lawley will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church or Ozark Chapel Cemetery.
