TWESTEN

Carl Albert Twesten Jr. 74, Eldon, died Sept. 7, 2002, at his home.

He was born Aug. 5, 1928, in East St. Louis, Ill., a son of Carl A. Sr., and Adella Watson Twesten. He was married April 10, 1948, in Mesa, Ariz., to Frances L. Bateman, who survives at the home.

He was a member of Lake Ozark Christian Church and the Eldon Country Club. He was a member of the Belleville, Ill., volunteer fire department, where he served as secretary for the board of directors.

He was a member of the Belleville board of education.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Linda Marie Sobek, Greenwood, Ind., and Margie Ann Kraft, Warrenton; two sisters, Delores Julian-Barrett, Pharr, Texas , and Margaret Muriel Collins, Mission, Texas ; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. The Rev. Jim Pohl will officiate.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to Missouri River Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

LUNCEFORD

Larry Otis Lunceford, 60, Mexico, died Sept. 7, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 29, 1942, in Cairo, a son of Willis and Helen Bates Lunceford. His mother survives in Mexico. He was married in 1965 to Carolyn Sue Rouse, who survives.

He worked as a corrections officer with the Missouri Department of Corrections for 14 years, most recently at the Women's Eastern Missouri Reception and Diagnostic Correctional Center, Vandalia. He served in the Army from 1961 to 1973 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Other survivors include: two sons, Shawn Lunceford, Centertown, and Jeff Lunceford,  Jefferson City; two brothers, Leo Lunceford and Cleo Lunceford, both of Mexico; four grandchildren.

Private family services and burial will be held.

Memorials are suggested to the United Way.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

BRUEMMER

Karen Gerian Bruemmer, 40, Taos, died Sept. 10, 2002, at the Hospice of  Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri Friendship House.

She was born Nov. 29, 1961, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Harold V. and Theresa Brandt Eiken. Her parents survive in Holts Summit. She was married Sept. 18, 1982, in  Jefferson City, to Gary David Bruemmer, who survives at the home.

She was a 1980 graduate of Helias High School. She worked for the Missouri Division of Aging from 1981 to 1996. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, where she was a lay communion minister, a member of the liturgy committee, an R.C.I.A. team member and volunteered in the parish office.

Other survivors include: two sons, Justin D. Bruemmer and Blake W. Bruemmer, both of the home; two brothers, Gerard Eiken,  Jefferson City, and Randy Eiken, Pine Bluff, Ark.; and two sisters, Lori Bodenstab,  Jefferson City, and Michelle Wieberg, Holts Summit.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. David Maher will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Taos, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation also will be from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Justin and Blake Bruemmer Educational Fund, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or the Arthritis Foundation.

DARBY

Geneva M. Darby, 87, Eldon, died Sept. 7, 2002, in  Jefferson City.

She was born June 22, 1915, in Bement, Ill., a daughter of Ted and Virgie Metzger Brittenham. She was married in 1935 in Monticello, Ill., to John W. Darby, who died June 2, 1990.

She was a public librarian. She moved to Eldon in 1973 and was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eldon.

Survivors include: one son, Thomas Darby, National City, Calif.; one daughter, Lynn Gaskill, Loleta, Calif.; one sister, Jean Johnson, Sherrard, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

One son, Ted Darby, and one grandson preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Greenmore Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Fred Smith will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

GENTGES

Mary Ann Gentges, 73, Loose Creek, died Sept. 10, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born March 23, 1929, in St. Charles. She was married Aug. 12, 1967, in St. Charles, to Martin Gentges, who survives at the home.

She attended school in St. Charles and Notre Dame Teachers School in St. Louis. She taught school as a Notre Dame sister for 18 years and worked for Missouri Department of Revenue for 17 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek, and St. Ann's Sodality.

Survivors include nephews and nieces.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek. The Rev. Greg Meystrik will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Morton Funeral Home in Linn, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception School in Loose Creek.

GOUGE

Clyde Opel Gouge, 96, Mansfield, formerly of  Jefferson City, died Sept. 9, 2002.

He was born Aug. 7, 1906, near Elston, a son of Elwood and Pearl Isabelle Wilhite Gouge. He was married June 25, 1934, to Margaret Cordelia Schirmer, who survives at the home.

He attended high school in  Jefferson City. He moved to St. Louis and worked in a plant during World War II. In the early 1960s, he moved to central Arizona where he worked in the Chandler school system. After retirement, he moved to Galena where he lived for several years before returning to  Jefferson City. In August 2001, he moved to the Mansfield area.

He was a painter and paper hanger. In 1950, he became a founding member of the  Jefferson City Church of God (Holiness). He was active as a song leader, Sunday school teacher, pastor, and deacon. He served on the board of the Mt. Zion Bible School near Ava. He was the author of two books and the co-author of two books. He wrote poems and articles for Christian publications. He also was a Christian songwriter.

Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Lee Goodwin, Mansfield, and Donna Sue Haynes,  Jefferson City; one grandson; two stepgrandsons; and two step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Mansfield. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Elston Cemetery.

HEIDT

Floyd Robert Heidt, 75, Raytown, died Sept. 10, 2002, at Park Place Care Center.

He was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Kansas City, a son of Floyd R. and Eulah Bernice Case Heidt.

Survivors include one sister, Nina Mai, Overland Park, Kan., and one half sister, LaRuth Feig,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hinton-Gibson Funeral Home, Raytown. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

HOMAN

Marilyn Ruth Homan, 65, Warrensburg, died Sept. 10, 2002, at her home.

She was born March 31, 1937, in California, a daughter of Emmet H. and Ruth R. Bieri Rohrbach. She was married May 28, 1970, in Chillicothe, to Frederic W. Homan, who survives in Warrensburg.

She was a 1953 graduate of California High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1957, a master's degree in education and a master's of art degree in music from Central Missouri State University. She taught in Waco, Texas , Warrensburg and the Knob Noster School District.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Warrensburg, where she was organist for 37 years. She was pianist for the youth choir and Bible school, and served as an elder and a deacon. She was also the organist for the Warrensburg Community Choir.

She was a member of the Warrensburg PEO Chapter CB; past president of the Warrensburg PTA; Sigma Alpha Iota at CMSU; Food Center Board of Warrensburg; and the Church Women United of Warrensburg.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Darlene Rich and Linda Eiskina, both of Leeton; five brothers, Lashley Rohrbach, Jamestown, and Abe Rohrbach, Larry Rohrbach, Danny Rohrbach and Norman Rohrbach, all of California; one sister, Ida Barry, Springfield; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Two sons preceded her in death: Roger Homan, Nov. 10, 2001, and Dale Homan, Aug. 18, 2002.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Alex Wales and the Rev. Melissa Bowers will officiate. Burial will be in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be all day today and until 11 a.m. Thursday at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home, Warrensburg.

Memorials are suggested to the Keith Worthington ALS Support Group of Kansas City, Johnson County Hospice or First Presbyterian Church of Warrensburg.

NELSON

Theron Nelson, 83, Vienna, died Sept. 10, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born June 16, 1919, in Vienna, a son of Joseph and Lucy Bade Nelson. He was married Nov. 14, 1941, in Dixon, to Lavon Breeden, who survives at the home.

He was a member of Rader United Methodist Church, Vienna. He was a clerk at Tom Coffey's Swap Shop, Vienna, until his retirement.

Other survivors include: two sons, Jim Nelson, St. Louis, and Tom Nelson, Belle; one daughter, Kathryn Wansing, St. Charles; one sister, Minnie Means, Union; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Vienna United Methodist Church. The Rev. Karen Alden will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Rader Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
