LEUTHEN

Clarence E. Leuthen, 86, Eldon, died Sept. 16, 2002, in Eldon.

He was born Feb. 10, 1916, in Henley, a son of Clement G. and Catherine "Katie" Cooper Leuthen. He was married June 24, 1944, in Corpus Christi, Texas , to Kathlene Bulson Leuthen, who survives at the home.

He was a farmer and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 2442 of Eldon and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eldon.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Loretta Ponce, Eldon; one brother, Walter Leuthen, Eldon; two sisters, Edna Lueckenhoff, Navajo Dam, N.M., and Pauline Whitten, Eldon; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 10 step great-grandchildren.

One son, Ronald E. Leuthen, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eldon. The Rev. James J. O'Sullivan will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

THOMAS

Pauline Johanna Thomas, 89,  Jefferson City, died Sept. 17, 2002, at her home.

She was born Oct. 18, 1912, in Stolpe, a daughter of Ernst F. and Johanna C. Martschinsky Bock. She was married in 1931 to Ballard Sapp, who died in 1967. She was married in 1970 to John Thomas, who died in 1979.

She worked as a housekeeper in private homes until her retirement. She was a member of Woodcrest Primitive Baptist Church in Ashland and the Goshen Primitive Baptist Church in Hartsburg.

Survivors include: three grandchildren, Kathy Loucks, Fulton, and Mike Sapp and Linda Fisher, both of Holts Sumit; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Burial will be in Woodcrest Cemetery in Ashland.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to Goshen Primitive Baptist Church in Hartsburg.

SIECKMANN

Edward B. Sieckmann, 90, Gravois Mills, died Sept. 16, 2002, at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.

He was born Nov. 5, 1911, in St. Louis, a son of Edward G. and Edith Wippern Sieckmann. He was married May 30, 1938, in St. Louis, to Jane R. Kaimann, who survives at the home.

He was a retired organist and organ builder. He owned and operated Sieckmann Organ Service in Florissant.

Other survivors include: one son, Walter Edward Sieckmann, Sunrise Beach; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Laurie. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:30-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.

KEMP

Earl J. Kemp, 89, Gravois Mills, died Sept. 17, 2002, at Laurie Care Center.

He was born Dec. 11, 1912, in Affton, a son of John and Elizabeth M. Brier Kemp. He was married to Helen Koelbel, who preceded him in death. He was married to Edith Peavley Wostina, who preceded him in death.

He was a retired self-employed automobile mechanic and was a member of West Lake Christian Church in Laurie.

Survivors include: one son, LeRoy E. Kemp, Gravois Mills; one granddaughter; four step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

One granddaughter preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at West Lake Christian Church, Laurie. Pastor Jim Sutherlin will officiate. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Park Lawn Cemetery, St. Louis.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.

Memorials are suggested to West Lake Christian Church, Laurie.

WANSING

Carol Ruth Wansing, 64, Wardsville, died Sept. 19, 2002, at her home.

She was born April 17, 1938, in Waubay, S.D., a daughter of Harvey and Helen Block Moss. Her mother Helen Moss Radtke, survives in Waubay. She was married Sept. 18, 1965, in Rapid City, S.D., to John Allen Wansing, who survives at the home.

She was a 1957 graduate of Waubay High School. She worked at the  Jefferson City Wal-Mart for six years and for Montgomery-Ward in  Jefferson City for 16 years. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and the Wardsville Card Club.

Other survivors include: five sons, Dan Washenberger, Rapid City, Robert Washenberger, Glendale, Ariz., John Wansing, Jr., Aurora, Colo., Anthony Wansing,  Jefferson City, and Kevin Wansing, Warrensburg; one daughter, Karen Martin, Rapid City; four brothers, Richard Moss, Rapid City, Dennis Moss, Waubay, Garry Moss, Castlewood, S.D., and Larry Radtke, Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. The Rev. Louis E. Dorn will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Casey Luebbert Scholarship Fund at  Jefferson City High School, 609 Union Street,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65101 or the American Cancer Society, 2932 Mohawk,  Jefferson City, M. 65101.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

POYNTER

Ruth C. Poynter, 87,  Jefferson City, died Sept. 15, 2002, in Westchester, Ill.

She was born Nov. 6, 1914, in Callaway County, a daughter of Grover C. and Mary Ella Meng Clardy.

She was a 1932 graduate of  Jefferson City High School. She received her teaching certificate from Warrensburg State Teachers College and a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

She was an elementary school teacher in Decatur, Ill. and  Jefferson City for 35 years. She also volunteered at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.

Survivors include: one daughter, Jane Poynter Lashinski, Westchester; one sister, Elizabeth Clardy Milnor, Mount Zion, Ill.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. The Rev. Murl Nash will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army, the Disabled Veterans, or a charity of the donor's choice.

TIHEN

Elizabeth Maryann "Libby" Tihen, 91,  Jefferson City, died Sept. 17, 2002, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged.

She was born April 16, 1911, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of John F. and Anna Brenneisen Tihen.

She worked as a secretary for the state of Missouri for 35 years and 11 years as assistant city clerk and city clerk of  Jefferson City, retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality, the Daughters of Isabella, St. Marys Health Center Auxiliary, Central Missouri Beagle Club and other midwest beagle clubs. She was active in Democratic politics and was a former delegate to the Missouri Democratic convention.

Survivors include one niece, Kathryn Tihen Baker, St. Louis.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Catholic Church Chapel. The Rev. Donald W. Lammers will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Marys Health Center Auxiliary, 100 St. Marys Medical Plaza,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65101-1602.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

BAKER

Opal R. Baker, 87, Centertown, died Sept. 17, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 22, 1915, in Byron, a daughter of Walker F. and Minnie Francis Starr. She was married Jan. 30, 1933, in Vienna, to Ray William Baker, who died March 25, 1996.

She attended Liberty School in Osage County. She was a homemaker and worked at Obermans Manufacturing in Chamois and  Jefferson City, retiring in 1964. She was a member of Capital West Christian Church and a former member of Capital City Christian Church, Chamois Church of Christ and the  Oklahoma Church of Christ in Chamois.

Survivors include: two sons, Bill Baker, Centertown, and Kent Baker, Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Nadine Coots, Centertown; two sisters, Thelma M. Bossaller, Linn, and Alta P. Davis, Tinley Park, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

One grandson and one great-grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Capital West Christian Church. Minister Ken Harland, Minister Gary Baker, Minister Mark Landis and Minister Rick Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in Centertown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday at Capital West Christian Church.

Memorials are suggested to Capital West Christian Church-Stewardship, 1308 Fairground Road,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65109; or Open Arms Crisis Pregnancy Center, 1109 Southwest Blvd.,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
