THOMAS

Derwood N. Thomas, 86, Tipton, died Oct. 11, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center,  Jefferson City.

He was born May 25, 1916, in Lafayette, Ind., a son of Henry and Alva Jones Thomas. He was married March 30, 1940, in Chicago, to Ann Ingram, who survives at the home.

He was a member of Unity School of Christianity. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years, and as a private detective for about 10 years. A carpenter, he and his wife built houses together.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Sandra Larson, Tipton; one brother, Gaylord Thomas, Chicago; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by one son, Derwood Thomas, Jr., in 1996.

The family will have a private service. The body was cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton.

WINTERS

Martha Winters, 65,  Jefferson City, died Oct. 11, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

Arrangements are with Houser-Millard Funeral Directors,  Jefferson City.

IMLER

Donna Lee Imler, 81, Grandview, died Oct. 11, 2002, at St. Joseph Health Center, Kansas City.

She was born Jan. 8, 1921, in Bloodland, a daughter of Albert and Mary Etta Adkison Gaede. She was married Dec. 14, 1945, to Benferd Leon Imler, who died July 24, 1991.

She worked as a riveter building airplanes in Kansas City, Kan., during World War II and later for Western Electric, until her retirement. She wrote several books on her family history.

Survivors include: one brother, Roy Eugene Gaede and one sister, both of Grandview.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Bob Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at E.K. George Funeral Home, Grandview.

FINN

Wilmetta "Met" Finn, 63, Vienna, died Oct. 12, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Buick, a daughter of Mont and Byrtle Lowrance Gant.

She was a teacher's aid for Head Start until 1984 and worked as a care provider.

She was a member of Lambeth Assembly of God Church in Dixon. She coached in a girls summer softball league for many years.

Survivors include: five sons, Brad Finn, Vienna, Perri Finn, Rolla, Steve Finn, Mokane, Jim Finn, St. Elizabeth, and Robert Finn, Brinktown; two daughters, Robin Helton, and Petriva Davis, both of Brinktown; two brothers, Cloris "Fuz" Gant, and Jerry Gant, both of Vienna; two sisters, Imogene Jones, Licking, and Sandie Ragan, Vienna; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Vienna United Methodist Church. The Rev. Karen Alden will officiate. Burial will be in Vienna Public Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

GILLIAM

Raymond "Gene" Gilliam, 71, Brumley, died Oct. 13, 2002, at his home.

He was born Aug. 19, 1931, in Brumley, a son of Benjamin "Claud" and Verna Marie Wooliver Gilliam. He was married Oct. 24, 1950, in Mountain Home, Ark., to Ruth Corene Wright, who survives at the home.

He attended Warren School. At the age of 14 he moved to the state of Washington and became a journeyman carpenter and joined the carpenters union.

He helped build the first atomic energy plant in Hanford, Wash. He worked at Ft. Leonard Wood, was a superintendent at the Lodge of the Four Seasons and Tan-Tar-A resort. He owned a construction business.

Other survivors include: two sons, Steven Gilliam, Fair Grove, and Jeffery Gilliam, Brumley; three daughters, Cynthia Winfrey and Angela Rivera, both of Brumley, and Judy Wall, Crocker; one brother, William Claude Gilliam, Brumley; two sisters, Christine Collins, Cassville, and Maxine Duncan, Iberia; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three step grandchildren.

Twin sons, Bruce and Bryant Gilliam, one daughter, Carolyn Gilliam, and one grandson, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hedges Funeral Home,Osage Beach. Jim Meredith and Mike Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Union Cemetery, Brumley.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

KREMER

Patricia Alma Kremer, 80,  Jefferson City, died Oct. 13, 2002, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Keytesville, a daughter of Joseph W. and Cora Woodward Kuhler. She was married Dec. 28, 1946, in  Jefferson City, to Joseph John Kremer Sr., who survives at the home.

She was a 1941 graduate of Brunswick High School.

She worked as a secretary for the Missouri Highway Patrol, the Missouri Conservation Commission and the Missouri Senate and House of Representatives.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral and was active in church and charity groups.

Other survivors include: one son, Joseph J. Kremer Jr., Springfield; two daughters, Karen K. Maier, Overland Park, Kan., and Cheryl A. Stoner,  Jefferson City; three brothers, William Kuhler, Keytesville, Joseph Kuhler Jr., New Franklin, and Arthur Kuhler, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one sister, Jewell Worthy, Springfield; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Joseph S. Corel will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Parkinson Foundation or St. Joseph Cathedral.

MAPLES

Robert W. Maples, 64, Richmond, formerly of  Jefferson City, died Oct. 12, 2002, at Ray County Memorial Hospital, Richmond.

He was born Dec. 8, 1937, in  Jefferson City, to Milford E. and Anna Mae Jones Maples. He was married Sept. 7, 1958, to Carol Allee, who survives at the home.

He was a welder and inspector for General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He served in the Missouri National Guard for 13 years and was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church. He also had lived in California.

Other survivors include: one son, Steve Maples, Richmond; one daughter, Rita Maples, Pleasant Valley; one brother, Donald Maples,  Jefferson City; and two grandsons.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Richmond First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dallas Bundy will officiate. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Richmond First Baptist Church.

NEASE

Olive Margert Nease, 84, Lake Ozark, died Sept. 26, 2002, at Lake Regional Health Systems, Osage Beach.

She was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Downers Grove, Ill., a daughter of William and Olive Marlan Ross. She was married Aug. 23, 1940, to Arlo D. Nease, who died in 1997.

She graduated from Downers Grove High School in 1940. She moved to Russell, Kan., where she worked for J.C. Penny Company. In 1948, she moved to back to Downers Grove, where she and her husband started the A & O Plastics Company. They perfected the process of injection molding and received a patent for the process. The company was best known for model car and plane kits. In 1976 she retired to the Lake of the Ozarks. She was a licensed pilot and a member of Lake Area Short Wave club.

Survivors include one brother, Charles Ross, Lysle, Ill., and two sisters, Charlotte Compton, Downers Grove, Ill., and Edith Wright, Westminster, Calif.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lake Ozark Retirement Center.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.
