WARE
Dorothy A. Ware, 61, Versailles, died Oct. 13, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born March 21, 1941, in Boonville, a daughter of Clarence I. and Mary B. Smith Wright. Her mother survives in Boonville. She was married June 17, 1972, to Charles W. Ware, who survives at the home.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church of Speed.
Other survivors include: two sons, Charles M. Ware, Kansas City, and Shaun Ware, Versailles; two daughters, Tina Boggess, Sedalia, and Kay Morney, Florissant; two brothers, James Wright, Denver, and Richard Wright, Boonville; five sisters, Betty Stark, Springfield, Ill., Georgia Maupins, Tipton, Barbara Jackson, Sedalia, Mary L. Wright, Boonville, and Ann Wright, Lompoc, Calif.; and five grandsons.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church, Versailles. The Rev. Wanda Alvis will officiate. Burial will be Versailles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Bethel A.M.E. Church of Speed or Second Baptist Church, Versailles.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
ORTBALS
Leona Catherine Ortbals, 94, Jefferson City, died Oct. 14, 2002, at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.
She was born Dec. 26, 1907, in St. Elizabeth, a daughter of Henry and Margaret Eicholz Bax. She was married Sept. 25, 1933, in St. Elizabeth, to Victor Henry Ortbals, who died Jan. 18, 1989.
A former St. Elizabaeth reisdent, she was a member of St. Lawrence Church, St. Elizabeth. She served as church organist for St. Lawrence Church and St. Anthony of Padua Church. She was a member of St. Ann's Sodality in St. Elizabeth and St. Anthony. She worked for Langenberg Hat Factory, St. Elizabeth.
Survivors include: four sons, Edgar Ortbals, Quincy, Ill., Marvin Ortbals, Claremore, Okla., Robert Ortbals, Lohman, and James Ortbals, Jefferson City; three daughters, Mildred Jurgensmeyer, Tipton, Helen Stuckenschneider, Arnold, and Joan Egbert, Columbia; two brothers, Raymond Bax, Wellsville, and Arthur Bax, Burbank, Calif.; 28 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Mary Ortbals, died April 25, 1949. One son, Donald Ortbals, died Oct. 4, 1993.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Church. The Rev. M. Christopher Smith will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home, St. Elizabeth, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
HESS
Donald L. Hess, 72, Versailles, died Oct. 15, 2002, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
He was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Morgan County, a son of Everett F. and Nellie B. Sidebottom Hess. He was married Nov. 18, 1950, to Mick Comer, who survives at the home.
He retired as manager of Gerbes Supermarket in Camdenton.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Vickey Twyman, Versailles; one sister, Ruth Hill, Gravois Mills; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.
WOLKEN
Leonard Arthur Wolken, 66, Jefferson City, died Oct. 15, 2002, at Kindred Hospital, Kansas City.
He was born July 2, 1936, in Taos, a son of Edwin B. and Sophie Margaret Kliethermes Wolken. He was married Oct. 4, 1958, in Taos, to Ruth Kathryn Rackers, who survives at the home.
He was a 1954 graduate of St. Peter High School. He worked for Landwehr Dairy, Pletz-Lewis Construction Company, Von Hoffmann Press, A.J. Rackers Heating and Air Conditioning and Jefferson City Public Schools. He also farmed for many years in Cole County. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 833 and a former member of the Missouri National Guard.
Other survivors include: two sons, John B. Wolken and Jerome A. Wolken, both of Jefferson City; one daughter, Joyce A. Lamb, Jefferson City; one sister, Dorothy Kresl, Crestwood; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Patrick G. Dolan will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

KOELLING
Venita S. Koelling, 84, Jefferson City, died Oct. 16, 2002, at Oak View Skilled Care Center.
She was born April 30, 1918, in Jefferson City, a daughter of John and Matilda Hake Krummen. She was married in Jefferson City, to Jessie Koelling, who preceded her in death.
She attended school in Jefferson City. She worked as a cook for the Cole County Nutrition Center and the Jefferson Café in the Jefferson Building. She worked as a seamstress for 18 years at Oberman Manufacturing and as a defense worker at Bolivar Shoe Factory. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and AARP.
Survivors include: three sons, Robert E. Koelling, Osage Bend, James E. Koelling, Indianapolis, and Kenneth L. Koelling, Jefferson City; four brothers, Delbert Krummen and Omer Krummen, both of Jefferson City, Ralph Krummen, state of Kansas, and James Krummen, state of Michigan; one sister, Mary Lou Krummen Weckenborg, Jefferson City; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. The Rev. Thomas L. Alber will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the family's choice.
JENKINS
Hershel Isaac Jenkins Sr., 83, Jefferson City, died Oct. 16, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Aug. 19, 1919, in Eugene, a son of Isaac A. and Cora Alice Bond Jenkins. He was married Jan. 17, 1945, in Ft. Baker, Calif., to Alicia Lucille Sizemore, who died March 27, 1980. He was married Sept. 29, 1980, in Jefferson City, to Veronica Elizabeth Frank Iven, who died Oct. 5, 2002.
He worked with the Missouri Department of Corrections for 25 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church in Olean. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion, VFW and was past president of the Miller County Fox Hunters Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: four sons, Hershel I. Jenkins Jr., O'Fallon, Richard K. Jenkins, Brandon, Fla., Randall G. Jenkins, Jefferson City, and David A. Jenkins, Conneautville, Pa.; one stepson, Robert J. Iven, Jefferson City; one stepdaughter, Joann C. Thessen, Taos; one brother, Tandy A. Jenkins, Eldon; two sisters, Eula M. Allen, Oakland City, Ind., and Wanda L. Albertson, Belton; 15 grandchildren; 15 step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 29 step great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

BURNS
Dorothy Webster Burns, 80, Camdenton, died Oct. 15, 2002, at Windsor Estates Care Center, Camdenton.
She was born Jan. 6, 1922, near Ha Ha Tonka, a daughter of Porter and Rosie Rogers Webster. She was married April 12, 1940, to Floyd R. Burns, who died April 7, 2002.
She lived for a short time in Kalamazoo, Mich., moving to Belton and back to the Camdenton area. She worked for Ha Ha Tonka Lodge and for Windsor Estates Care Center. She worked for Sunstrand in Camdenton from 1971 until she retired in 1984. She was a homemaker and a member of Ira Missionary Baptist Church near Eldridge.
Survivors include: four sons, Bud Burns, Charles Ray Burns, Junior Burns, and Phillip Burns, all of Camdenton; one daughter, Shirley Welsh, Camdenton; two brothers, Mack Webster, Richland, and Russell Webster, Gerster; three sisters, Freida Stouffer, Bolivar, Nancy Sherwin, Camdenton, and Helen Morris, Fair Grove; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
One grandson preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Decaturville Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Danny Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.
Memorials are suggested to the Zion Cemetery Care Fund.
CHAMBERS
Marcia F. Chambers, 85, Camdenton, died Oct. 15, 2002, at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.
She was born March 28, 1917, near Salisbury, a daughter of Stephen and Flossie Gerhart Farrell. She was married Jan. 16, 1959, to Frank C. Chambers, who died April 19, 1979.
Raised in Salisbury, she graduated from high school and was a homemaker.
Survivors include: one son, Rowland V. "Chuck" Todd, Gravois Mills; one stepson, Joe Chambers, state of Tennessee; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and step grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Allee Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Dean Rooffener will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.
