DECKARD
Kortnie Summer Deckard, 17, Macks Creek, died Oct. 16, 2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born May 21, 1985, in Springfield, a daughter of Brad and Linda Carnahan Deckard, who survive.
She was a senior at Macks Creek High School, where she was active in FHA, softball, cheerleading and was a teacher's aid. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Macks Creek.
Other survivors include: one brother, Cyle Deckard, of the home; maternal grandparents, B.J. and Iris Carnahan, Macks Creek; paternal grandparents, John and Patricia Deckard, Macks Creek; maternal great-grandmother, Cora Stafford, Osceola; and paternal great-grandparents, Luther and Mazie Deckard, Strafford.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Macks Creek. The Rev. Dennis Skinner and the Rev. Glen Eidson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Macks Creek.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Senior Class of 2003 of Macks Creek.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home in Macks Creek.
DECKER
Bobby Joe Decker, 63, Vienna, died Oct. 14, 2002, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.
He was born Sept. 25, 1939, in Maries County, a son of Dorothy Fern Light Decker. His stepfather, Virgil West, survives in Vienna.
He owned and operated his own truck, contracting with Landstar Truck Company.
Other survivors include one son, Robert Decker, Vienna, one daughter, Lisa Lynn Decker, Cuba, and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Breeding Cemetery, near Freeburg. The Rev. Cellis Crum will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Friday at the cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.
GOOD
Services were today for Walter Lee Good, 75, Dixon, who died Oct. 14, 2002, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla.
He was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Delaware, Okla., a son of Andy L. and Leona Poole Good. He was married Feb. 14, 1946, at Ft. Leonard Wood, to Bertha Lucille Quick, who survives at the home.
He worked as an auto mechanic, painting cars for the Army. He was a member of the Arlington Masonic Lodge 346 and the Missouri Fox Trotter's Association.
Other survivors include: two sons, Danny Good, St. Charles, and Walter Good Jr., Forestdale; three daughters, Debra Baker and Ginger Good, both of Dixon, and Trudy Copeland, Springfield; three sisters, Nettie Roberts, Sandpointe, Idaho, Hattie Dicus, Wichita, Kan., and Maxine Mobley, Jefferson City; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Barbra Beauchamp, died Nov. 24, 1974.
Services were at Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon. Burial was in Dixon Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
FECHTE
Sister Aurelia Fechte, CDP, 87, Alton, Ill., died Oct. 17, 2002, at St. Clare Villa Assisted Living, Alton.
She was born May 27, 1915, in Venice, Ill., a daughter of John and Mary Fechte.
She attended Sisters of Divine Providence preparatory school in Pittsburgh. She entered the order Jan. 6, 1931, and professed perpetual vows Aug. 6, 1938, in the St. Louis Province. She taught at St. Louis School in Bonnots Mill for several years in the late 1930's and was principal and teacher at St. Andrew School in Tipton from 1941-1946. She served the order as novice mistress from 1947-1954. She served two terms on the Provincial Council from 1956-1965. In 1974, she studied music at Brescia College in Kentucky. She was principal and teacher at Mount Providence School in Normandy and was teacher and principal at St. Mary's School in Madison, Ill. In 1996, she moved to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Granite City, Ill., where she was in prayer ministry. In 2002, she moved to St. Clare.
Survivors include one brother, Harry J. Fechte, Granite City, Ill., and one sister, Monica Bryant, Yuma, Ariz.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's in Alton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Staten Funeral Home in Alton, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Sisters of Divine Providence Retirement Fund, in care of the development office, 3415 Bridgeland Dr., Bridgeton, Mo. 63044.
GAN
Lawrence Earnest Gan, 70, Richland, died Oct. 17, 2002, at his home.
He was born Feb. 18, 1932, in Bloodland, a son of Clarence W. and Josephine Quick Gan. He was married Aug. 19, 1966, in Reno, Nev., to Alma Jo-Ann Jensen, who survives at the home.
He worked at Britzman's Lumber Company in Laquey for more than 15 years.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Dawn Gan, Richland, Ida Berry, Aurora Grande, Calif., and June Taylor, Eldon; six brothers, Glen Gan, Stillwater, Okla., Harold Gan, High Ridge, Paul Gan, Seattle, Charlie Gan, Jefferson City, Robert Gan, Cloves, Calif., and James Gan, Richland; two sisters, Ruth Graham, Richland, and Loretta Belisie, Kaiser, Ore.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Anne Tipton, preceded him in death.
Private burial will be at a later date in Centerpoint Cemetery near Richland.
Arrangements are under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
PAULSMEYER
Grace Pearl Paulsmeyer, 95, Linn, died Oct. 18, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Nov. 21, 1906, in Mint Hill, a daughter of Wiley J. and Melcena Hurst White . She was married April 28, 1929, in Chamois, to Florenz Ernest Paulsmeyer, who died April 6, 1986.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sisters, Wilma Laaker, Linn, and Verda Budnik, Chamois.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Morton Funeral Home in Linn. The Rev. Doyle "Buddy" DeLong will officiate. Burial will be in Woods Cemetery in Osage County.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials are suggested to Woods Cemetery.
RAINS
William Earl Rains, 93, Eldon, died Oct. 17, 2002, in Jefferson City.
He was born Aug. 11, 1909, in Miller County, a son of Samuel D. and Bertha Allen Rains. He was married Sept. 7, 1938, in Eldon, to Audrey M. Uptergrove Rains, who survives at the home.
He was a lifelong resident of the Eldon area. He owned and operated Rains Auto Service for 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eldon, where he was active in the men's Sunday school class. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include: one son, Larry G. Rains, Jefferson City; one daughter, Linda E. McMillian, Jefferson City; one sister, Lois Helseth, Houston, Mo.; and two grandsons.
One infant son, Jerry Lee Rains, died in 1942.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon. The Rev. Randall Bunch will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
SMITH
Barbara Lynn Smith, 41, Sunrise Beach, died Oct. 15, 2002, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
She was born Feb. 2, 1961, in Hamilton, Ohio, a daughter of Fred G. and Suzanne B. Bennett Dutton, who survive in Lake Ozark. She was married May 15, 1999, to Richard J. Smith, who survives at the home.
She graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia in 1979 and attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg and the University of Houston in Clear Lake, Texas . She was a homemaker and worked as a health care provider at Lake Ozark Development Center in Camdenton. She was a member of the Lake Presbyterian Church in Osage Beach. She was a musician.
Other survivors include one daughter, Ellen Marie Smith, of the home, and one sister, Janet Ann Dutton, Columbia.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Burial will be in Allee Memorial Gardens.
