Verla L. "Susie" Jones, 49, Hartsburg, died June 30, 1999, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

She was born icon Feb. 10, 1950, in Warrensburg, a daughter of A. Kenneth and Verla Jean Fox Campbell. Her mother survives in Ashland. She was married icon Jan. 16, 1976, in Ashland, to Tommy Jones, who survives at the home.

She worked at Ashland Super Foods as a clerk. She was a member of Living Faith Church, Ashland.

Other survivors include: two sons, Scott Alan Jones, Springfield, and Roger Clark Jones, Hartsburg; one daughter, Amanda Louise Jones, Hartsburg; and one brother, Roger Dean Campbell, Ashland.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Mike Quinn will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, Ashland.

Visitation will from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Amanda Jones and Roger Jones Trust Fund, c/o Boone County National Bank, Ashland, Mo.

LAMMERS

Nellie Mary Lammers, 94, Pilot Grove, died June 30, 1999, at Katy Manor Nursing Home, Pilot Grove.

She was born icon Sept. 28, 1904, in Pilot Grove, a daughter of William and Anna Vollrath Schuster. She was married icon Oct. 27, 1925, in Martinsville, to Augustine Lammers, who died in 1992.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pilot Grove, and St. Joseph Altar Society. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: five sons, Charles C. Lammers and James E. Lammers, both of Boonville, the Rev. Donald W. Lammers, Jefferson City, John A. Lammers, Hallsville, and Robert J. Lammers, Lawson; one daughter, Joan I. Kammerich, Boonville; three sisters, Florence Lammers and Catherine Bock, both of Pilot Grove; and Alice Friedrich, Boonville; 25 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald Lammers and the Rev. Eric Schlachter will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pilot Grove.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Meisenheimer Funeral Home, Pilot Grove.

HOLT

Cletus Holt, 88, Osage Beach, died July 2, 1999, at Osage Beach Health Care Center.

He was born icon Jan. 31, 1911, in Holts Summit, a son of Hirian and Beulah Griffin Holt. He was raised by his father and stepmother, Bessie Holt. He was married icon Sept. 2, 1932, in Tuscumbia, to Lillian Henderson, who died July 23, 1995.

He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church, Osage Beach.

Survivors include: one son, Don Holt, Eldon; one daughter, Mary Ann Wilhelm, Omama, Ark.; one brother, Russell Holt, Jefferson City; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Riverview Baptist Church. Todd Shockley will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Jefferson City.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

BESS

Mary M. Bess, 73, Linn, died July 2, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born icon April 22, 1926, in Gallup, N.M. She was married icon July 29, 1962, in Normandy, to Robert Lee Bess, who died May 11, 1997.

She lived in Linn for the past 24 years, moving there from St. Louis. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: one son, Charles F. Berry, Troy; three daughters, Betty Ann Kallmbah, Owensville, and Roberta Lynne Zimmerman and Mary Dulle, both of Linn; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Steven H. Berry, in 1974; one daughter, Mary Charlene Rawlings, in 1996; and two grandchildren, Dereck and Dustin Zimmerman, in 1982.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn. Deacon Robert Dulle will officiate. Burial will be in Linn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Hoof-A-Thon.

WHITE

Lewis Elmo White, 81, Jefferson City, died July 2, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born icon Jan. 8, 1918, in Boone County, a son of James O. and Beulah Nichols White. He was married icon Oct. 16, 1945, in Columbia, to Roma Hilgedick, who survives at the home.

A lifelong resident of Central Missouri, he attended the Christian School in Boone County. He was employed at the body shop of Shikles Motor Co., McKay Motor Co. and James Motor Co. for 35 years prior to retiring in 1980.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Hartsburg; a charter member of American Legion Post 424, Hartsburg; and a lifelong member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003.

Other survivors include: one son, Keith White, Holts Summit; two daughters, Cathy Wyss, Russellville, and Corrine Brown, Jefferson City; four brothers, Chester Hollis White, Jefferson City, Kenneth White, St. Louis, Beuford White, Florissant, and Charles Henry White, San Diego; one sister, Nellie Again, Columbia; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Freeman Chapel. The Rev. Bryan Crousore will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post 424, Hartsburg.

GERLETTE

Ralph Anthony Gerlette, 86, Holts Summit, died July 2, 1999, at Oak Tree Villa.

Arrangements are pending with Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City.

WEBB

Lloyd Wayne Webb, 51, Versailles, died July 3, 1999, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

He was born icon Feb. 24, 1958, in Versailles, a son of Lloyd H. and Hazel Colhour Webb.

He worked at Hentges Tree Service around the Lake of the Ozarks. He enjoyed fishing.

He attended Tipton Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include: four sisters, Retha Duffer, Stover, Shirley Woodward, Kansas City, and Linda Webb and Margaret Webb, both of St. Joseph; and one brother, Larry Don Webb, St. Joseph.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover. The Rev. Don Schutte will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Cemetery south of Stover.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

RIETH

Edward H. Rieth, 89, Marshall, died July 3, 1999, at the Living Center, Marshall.

He was born icon March 6, 1910, in Ferguson, a son of Frederick and Genevieve Rieth. He was married icon May 14, 1938, in Shrewsbury, to Margaret M. O'Rourke, who survives at the home.

He worked in highway construction and later owned and operated Marshall Paving Co. before retiring in 1979.

He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Marshall and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He belonged to the St. Vincent DePaul Society and founded the Community Food Pantry in Marshall.

Other survivors include: five sons, William E. Rieth and Stephen J. Rieth, both of Marshall, Lawrence E. Rieth, Springfield, Ill., John A. Rieth, Dearborn, Mich., and Paul F. Rieth, Apalachin, N.Y.; three daughters, Patricia A. Gladbach, Jefferson City, Kathleen Rieth, Lenexa, Kan., and Mary Jo Rieth, Marshall; three sisters, Jane Knost, St. Peters, Genevieve Lawler, Phoenix, and Margaret Miller, St. Louis; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Marc Edward Rieth.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. Louis E. Dorn will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Monday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, Marshall, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Ed Rieth Memorial Fund for the Living Center.

PIFER

Jack B. Pifer, 84, Versailles, died July 2, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born icon Feb. 8, 1915, in Dogden, N.D., a son of John and Ellen J. Crowley Pifer. He was married icon July 28, 1940, to Della M. Chamberlain, who died May 4, 1988.

He was a retired tool and die maker for General Motors Corp. in Pontiac, Mich., and a member of the United Auto Workers.

Survivors include: two sons, Warren L. Pifer, Versailles, and Ricky D. Pifer, Eldon; one daughter, Rita J. Clark, Versailles; one brother, James Pifer, Eau Claire, Wis.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

One son, Jack Pifer Jr., was stillborn.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Gerald Hamlett will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
