KURTZ

Melvin H. Kurtz, 63, Fortuna, died July 2, 1999, in Versailles.

He was born icon Sept. 19, 1935, in Lancaster County, Pa., a son of Christian B. and Ella N. Hoover Kurtz. He was married icon Oct. 10, 1957, to Ruth Naomi Martin, who survives at the home.

He was a member of Beulah Mennonite Church near Versailles.

Other survivors include: four sons, Melvin Kurtz Jr., Marvin Kurtz and David Kurtz, all of Versailles, and Lamar Kurtz, Hancock, Minn.; three daughters, Ruth Ann Hostetler, Sedalia, Ky., Arlene Williams, Cuero, Texas, and Janice Rambo, Tipton; three brothers, Christian H. Kurtz, Myerstown, Pa., Norman H. Kurtz, Womelsdorf, Pa., and Paul H. Kurtz, Ephrata, Pa.; seven sisters, Edna Nolt, Beausejour, Manitoba, Canada, Mary Weaver, Jonestown, Pa., Verna Zimmerman, Wellsboro, Pa., Minnie Martin, Myerstown, Pa., Anna Martin, Glasgow, Ky., Ella Martin, Huntington, Pa., and Naomi Weaver, Hamburg, Pa.; and 21 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stillborn child.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Beulah Mennonite Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

DISTLER

Marie Frances Distler, 66, Jefferson City, died July 2, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born icon Dec. 17, 1932, in Florissant, a daughter of Joseph and An-gela Henke Sch-moele. She was married icon Nov. 25, 1954, in Florissant, to Francis Alphonse "Frank" Distler, who died Oct. 13, 1998.

She received her education at Incarnate Ward Academy in Florissant. She was employed as an account cashier with Scholastic Inc. for 15 years before retiring in 1995.

She was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral.

Survivors include: four sons, Thomas J. Distler and John A. Distler, both of Jefferson City, Andrew F. Distler, Russellville, and Melvin L. Distler, New Bloomfield; three daughters, Patricia Distler, Angela S. Maasen and Sharon Berendzen, all of Jefferson City; two brothers, Herman Schmoele, St. Louis, Anthony Schmoele, Springfield; three sisters, Theresa Schmoele, Johanna Mallioux and Barbara Ridder, all of St. Louis; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Frederick J. Elskamp will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Epilepsy Foundation, the American Cancer Society or to Masses.

HEFFELFINGER

Dorothy Miriam Heffelfinger, 82, Tipton, died July 3, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born icon July 30, 1916, in Weatherly, Pa., a daughter of John and Nora Heiny Luhman. She was married icon in March 1940 in Catasauqua, Pa., to Alvin Heffelfinger, who survives at the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Donald Heffelfinger, Newark, Del., and Thomas Heffelfinger, California; one brother, James Luhman, Weatherly; two sisters, Arlene Heintzelman, Hazelton, Pa., and Ruth Meyers, Overguard, Ariz.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

No services are planned. The remains were cremated.

Arrangements were under the direction of Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California.

HOLZER

Leo S. Holzer, 73, Jefferson City, died July 5, 1999, at his home.

He was born icon Aug. 7, 1925, in Henley, a son of Joseph and Katherine Goller Holzer. He was married icon in 1973, in Jefferson City, to Mary Ann Workman, who died June 26, 1997.

A lifelong resident of Central Missouri, he attended school in Marys Home. He was employed by International Shoe Factory and worked for Scholastic Inc. from 1971 to 1988.

He was a member of the Catholic church.

Survivors include: three stepsons, Terry Hile, Columbia, and Larry Hile and Curtis Hile, both of Jefferson City; two stepdaughters, Beverly Kempker, Holts Summit, and Delores Jones, Jefferson City; two sisters, Matilda Kliethermes, Taos, and Lucy Luebbering, St. Thomas; two brothers, Frank Holzer, Jefferson City, and Sylvester Holzer, Lohman; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Ed Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Leo S. Holzer Memorial Fund.

HALL

Evelyn Ann Hall, 71, Waco, Texas, formerly of Jefferson City, died July 4, 1999, at her home.

She was born icon Aug. 17, 1927, in Jefferson City, a daughter of John B. and Laura Vieth. She was married icon to Azell "Al" Hall, who survives at the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Roger Hall; one brother, Ralph Vieth, state of California; two sisters, Mildred Bauer and Irene Hofmann, both of Jefferson City; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at BrookView Funeral Home, Waco. The Rev. Walter Albers will officiate. Burial will be in Waco Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today.

GIVENS-WALLANDER

Patricia Ann Root Givens-Wallander, 53, Decaturville, died July 5, 1999, at her home.

She was born icon Sept. 9, 1945, in Lebanon, a daughter of Raymond and June Goss Root. She was married icon in August 1981 to Gerald "Jerry" Wallander, who survives at the home.

She worked in the clerical field and was employed at First National Bank of Camdenton.

She was a member of Trinity Full Gospel Church, Eldridge.

Other survivors include: one son, Berkley T. Givens, St. Louis; one stepson, Jerry Don Wallander, Garden City; two stepdaughters, Stacy Miles, Paola, Kan., and Glenda Cobb, Garden City; one sister, Betty Zeigenbein, Lebanon; eight step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton. Shawnee Ripley will officiate. Burial will be in Decaturville Cemetery, Decaturville.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Full Gospel Church or to the Camdenton Literary Council.

KELLEY

Harry Thomas Kelley, 65, Sunrise Beach, died July 4, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born icon March 19, 1934, in Clay County, a son of George T. and Marie Allison Kelley. He was married icon July 24, 1952, to Barbara Webb, who survives at the home.

He worked for Ford Motor Co. in Kansas City, retiring in 1991. He was a member of UAW Local 249 and the Church of God Holiness.

Other survivors include: one son, Gary Thomas Kelley, Avondale, Ark.; one daughter, Vickie Kelley, Camdenton; three sisters, Ruth Hounker and Bertha Wallace, both of Gladstone, and Elsie Taylor, Kansas City; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie. The Rev. Jerry Piker will officiate. Burial will be in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery, Laurie.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

KEENEY

June M. Keeney, 81, Jefferson City, died July 4, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born icon Feb. 21, 1918, in Linn, a daughter of Forest and Pearl Nolte Clark. She was married icon July 3, 1937, in Fulton, to Frank C. Keeney, who survives at the home.

She attended schools in Linn and Stoney Point School. She was a bookkeeper with the Missouri Baptist Association until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Other survivors include: one son, Terry Keeney, Jefferson City; one brother, Kenneth Clark, Jefferson City; two sisters, Marie Barnard and Zona Helwig, both of Jefferson City; two grandsons and one great-grandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Nelson and the Rev. Doyle Sager will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.

TODD

Lela N. Todd, 82, Versailles, died July 4, 1999, at her home.

She was born icon Oct. 13, 1916, in Neosho, a daughter of Charlie and Thelma Frances Eaton Cox. She was married icon Aug. 25, 1940, in Versailles, to Mancel F. Todd, who died June 16, 1986.

She was a homemaker and a member of Versailles United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Timothy Wayne Todd of Versailles, and Rhonda Lynn Cabe, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, William Wayne "Bill" Todd, who died in 1993, and one stillborn daughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Gary DeWitt will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
