RUETHER

Agnes J. Beck Schneider Ruether, 80,  Jefferson City, died Nov. 22, 2002, at  Jefferson City Manor.

She was born Dec. 14, 1921, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Otto J. and Josephine Eggers Beck. She was married in 1940 to Joseph E. Schneider who preceded her in death.

She was married March 26, 1982, in  Jefferson City, to Harry R. Ruether, who died on June 27, 2001.

She attended Trinity Lutheran School. She worked for Tweedie Show Factory from 1951 to 1965, and for Von Hoffman Press, Local 111B, from 1965 until retiring.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Trinity Lutheran School Alumni Association.

Survivors include: three daughters, Betty J. Reinke, Anchorage, Alaska, Dorothy M. Tate, Nixa, and Ruth Schneider,  Jefferson City; two step sons, Donald Ruether, Russellville and Gary Ruether,  Jefferson City; three step daughters, Pamela Koestner, Russellville, Karen Phillips, Russellville, Brenda Wunderlich, Lohman; one half-brother, J.W. Bennett, Creve Coeur; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Houser-Milliard Funeral Directors,  Jefferson City Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Jerome Brownlee will officiate. Burial will be in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, or the Lutheran Hour Ministries.

ADKINS

Gene F. Adkins, 71, Belle, died Nov. 22, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born June 23, 1931, in Vienna, a son of Floyd and Lola Frey Adkins. He was married Oct. 30, 1959, to Jean Ridenhour, who survives at the home.

He worked for the Belle Counter Company.

Other survivors include: two brothers, Bobbie Adkins, Belle, and Joseph Adkins, Bland; and one sister, Irene Malone, Rolla.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sassman's Funeral Home, Belle. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.

HORAK

Harley John Horak, 73,  Jefferson City, died Nov. 20, 2002, at  Jefferson City Manor Care Center.

He was born May 16, 1929, in Centertown, a son of John W. and Louise K. Goldammer Horak.

He attended school in Centertown and worked as a farmer. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lohman.

Survivors include: one brother, Alfred T. Horak, Kansas City; and two sisters, Frances Alexander, Clinton, and Della L. Legg, Kingston, Mich.

Private graveside services will be held in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Lohman.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lohman.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.

JACKSON

Viola Jackson, 84, Fulton, died Nov. 23, 2002, at the Villa Marie Nursing Facility.

She was born May 28, 1918, in Callaway County, a daughter of Guy D. and Eunice Winscott Mirts. She was married March 16, 1941, to William C. Jackson, who preceded her in death.

She owned the Jackson Apartments and was a member of the First Christian Church, Fulton.

Survivors include one daughter, Carla Morley,  Jefferson City, and one grandson.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday at the Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Raymond Dunlap will officiate. Burial will be private.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time on Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church, Fulton.

KILSON

Hermoine E. Kilson, 90, Russellville, died Nov. 22, 2002, at her home.

She was born June 14, 1912, in Waterloo, Iowa, a daughter of John W. and Nellie A. Urie Zeran. She was married April 6, 1935, in Waverly, Iowa, to Archie Kilson, who died in 1977.

She graduated from high school in Waverly, Iowa. She worked as a secretary in the Lebanon Recorder's Office. She was a member of the Capital City Christian Church.

Survivors include: one son, Jerry Kilson, Russellville, eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville. Burial will follow in the Mt. Rose Memorial Cemetery, Lebanon.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the Show-Me Christian Youth Home or the Missouri Operation for Vigorous Evangelist.

LONG

Nadine Long, 82, Columbia, died Nov. 23, 2002, at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

She was born Nov. 8, 1920, in Hatton, the daughter of the late John W. and Ethel (Foutz) Griggs. She was married May 19, 1940, to Lescoe D. Long, who survives at the home.

She graduated from Hickman High School and was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of the Millersburg Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

Survivors include: two sons, John H. Long and Jerry D. Long, both of Fulton; one sister, Ila Crockett, Columbia; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Millersburg Baptist Church. The Rev. Rick Hoskins will officiate. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

LOONEY

Henry S. Looney, 83, Camdenton, died Nov. 22, 2002, at Citizens Memorial Hospital, Bolivar.

He was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Eldridge, a son of Sherman and Martha Ellen Grinnings Looney.

He was a farmer, a member of the Myetta Missionary Baptist Church in Camdenton, a Missionary Baptist minister, and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include one sister, Sarah Kathleen Heavner, Independence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Dean Rooffener will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Camdenton.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

PETERSON

A.K. "Pete" Peterson, 71, Columbia, died Nov. 22, 2002, at his home.

He was born Jan. 14, 1931, in Denver, Colo., to Kermit A. and Iola Merle Smith Peterson. He was married Sept. 2, 1984, in Columbia, to Cynthia Buchta, who survives.

He was self-employed for 30 years as a Maritime artist. He was a founding member and past president of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society. He was a signature member of the American Society of Maritime Artists.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the North Pacific from 1948 to 1952.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Elise Peterson, Columbia; one son, Scott Peterson, Bend, Ore.; one sister, Barbara Peterson, Wilberton, Okla.; three brothers, Norman Peterson, Cheyenne, Wyo., Raymond Peterson, Vancouver, British Columbia, and Carl Peterson, state of Georgia; and two grandsons.

Services will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, P.O. Box 676, Osage Beach, Mo., 65065.
