SCHOENTHAL

H. W. "Billy" Schoenthal, 71, Jamestown, died Dec. 5, 2002, at Moniteau Care Center.

He was born Jan. 2, 1931, in Jamestown, a son of Alfred and Clara Schulze Schoenthal. He was married May 16, 1970, in Centertown, to Wanda Lairmore, who survives at the home.

He attended Hickory Flat and Carlos schools. He was a farmer and worked at MO-WOOD for three years. He was a member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ, Jamestown and was a member of VFW Post 4345. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Brenda Sinden, St. Louis, Laura Schoenthal and Karen Schlup, both of Jamestown; one brother, Truman Schoenthal, Jamestown; one sister, Mildred Hall, California; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services. The Rev. Chester Marshall will officiate. Burial will be in St. Pauls UCC Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, with a VFW service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls UCC-Building Fund, Jamestown, MO 65046; or to St. Pauls UCC Cemetery Fund.

TAYLOR

E. Clayton Taylor, 85, Stover, died Dec. 6, 2002, at Golden Age Living Center.

He was born Dec. 10, 1916, in Zora, a son of William E. and Ordella Hughes Taylor. He was married Aug. 18, 1940, in Stover, to Viola E. Fischer, who survives at the home.

He was a farmer and worked at MFA in Stover. He worked for several years at the ASC office in Versailles. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Stover.

Other survivors include: one son, Ronald Taylor, Coral Spring, Fla.; two daughters, Joyce Bauer and Sharon James, both of Stover; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Kiehl will officiate. Burial will be in Stover Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church.

BAILEY

Thelma Elizabeth Bailey, 86,  Jefferson City, died Dec. 6, 2002, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born Nov. 19, 1916, in Marion, a daughter of William D. and Lula Elizabeth Daehler Connell. She was married Feb. 8, 1935, in St. Martins to Herbert William Bailey, who died July 28, 1986.

She worked for Tweedie Shoe Factory in  Jefferson City, and also was a homemaker. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, where she belonged to the W.M.U. She was a past member of the W.H.O. Extension Club at Marion.

Survivors include one son: Gary B. Bailey, Centertown; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

One son, William Eugene Bailey, died Feb. 3, 1988.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors --  Jefferson City Chapel with Rev. Dan Doolin and Rev. Kenneth Lupton officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the New Hope Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association, Mid Missouri Chapter.

CHAMBERS

LaVerne D. Chambers, 90,  Jefferson City, died Dec. 6, 2002, at  Jefferson City Manor.

She was born July 21, 1912, in Russellville, a daughter of Frank and Alice Eckenberger George. She was married in 1937 to David E. Chambers, who died in February 1980.

She was a 1930 graduate of California High School. She was a manager and sales clerk at Lee's Shoe Store in  Jefferson City and St. Louis from 1936-1945, then was an office manager for the federal government in St. Louis until retiring in 1970. She was named Civil Servant of the Year and received numerous other awards.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church,  Jefferson City, and the Winsome Sunday School Class. She was a lifetime member and past president of the Junior Women's Chamber of St. Louis, the Women's Club, and the local and national chapters of the AARP.

Survivors include numerous cousins.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Burial will be in the Centertown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.

FRENCH

Wallace French, 82, Gravois Mills, died Dec. 5, 2002, at Laurie Care Center.

He was born Dec. 12, 1919, in Grant, Kan., a son of Albert L. and Flora Dieter French. He was married Sept. 2, 1952, to Inge Barz, who survives at the home.

He was an electrician and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

No services will be held. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.

KIRCHHOFF

The Rev. Marvin J. Kirchhoff, 72, Blue Springs, formerly of California, died Dec. 6, 2002, at the Independence Regional Health Center, Independence.

He was born April 6, 1930, in rural Emma, a son of Alvin W. and Mayme Steinkuehler Kirchhoff.

He was married Sept. 29, 1962, in Evansville, Ind., to Virginia Anderson, who survives at the home.

He was a 1947 graduate of Sweet Springs High School; a 1951 graduate of Drury College, Springfield, with a major in Bible, reglion and philosophy; and a 1955 graduate of Eden Theological Seminary, Webster Groves.

He was an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, and served in California for 29 years. His other calls included parishes in Newton, Kan., and Evansville, Ind., and he served as interim pastor for several congregations before he retired.

Other survivors include: one son, Paul A. Kirchhoff,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Sharon L. Hilpert, Mill Valley, Calif.; one brother, Leland Kirchhoff, Concordia; one sister, Evelyn Windmeyer, Grand Pass; two grandchildren and two step-grandsons.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's United Church of Christ, Emma, with the Rev. Jerry Basye and Rev. David Lyons officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Evangelical Cemetery, California.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, Concordia.

GIBONEY

Teddy Joe Giboney, 48, Centertown, died Dec. 5, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born July 10, 1954, in  Jefferson City, a son of William D. and Bonnie Dell Shipman Giboney. He was married Sept. 12, 1996, in Shannon County to Maria Sharp Brinkworth, who survives at the home.

He attended  Jefferson City Public Schools. He owned and operated Carpentry and More. He had worked for Markway Construction, and also for Ludwig Construction.

Other survivors include: one son, Kyle Giboney,  Jefferson City; two daughters, Sara Giboney,  Jefferson City, and Katie Giboney, Centertown; one step-daughter, Keri Brinkworth, Centertown; one brother, Mike Giboney, Ashland; and three sisters, Virginia Lahmeyer, San Bernandino, Calif., Brenda Giboney,  Jefferson City, and Barbara Oetting, Holts Summit.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors --  Jefferson City Chapel. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
