LINDSEY
Helen F. Lindsey, 89, Jefferson City, died Dec. 6, 2002, at Jefferson City Manor.
She was born July 1, 1913, in Hobart, Okla., a daughter of Francis W. and Edna Pearl Goodson Koeppe. She was married in New Cambria, Missouri, to Arthur M. Lindsey, who died Dec. 23, 1996.
She was a 1931 graduate of Walnut High School in Walnut, Iowa, and a 1933 graduate from Gem City Business College in Quincy, Ill. She worked more than 40 years for the Missouri Division of Employment Security as a key punch operator and computer programmer, until retiring in 1973.
She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include three sisters: Marjorie Koeppe, Jefferson City, Nathine Bulen, Independence, and Edna Miller, Quincy, Ill.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors -- Jefferson City Chapel, with Rev. Lawrence Veatch officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church.
SHORES
Evelyn Shores, 83, Winter Park, Fla., formerly of Eldon, died Dec. 4, 2002, at her home.
She was born Dec. 2, 1919, in California, a daughter of Francis and Nellie Stark Rudinger. She was married in 1934 to Milton P. Shores Jr., who died Dec. 16, 1998.
She served on several zoning boards, was a board member for Dixon Bank, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the First Baptist Church, Eldon.
Survivors include: one daughter, Carleta Wilson, Winter Park, Fla.; one sister, Marguerite Hefron, Overland Park, Kan.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, Eldon. The Rev. Randall Bunch will officiate. Private burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Barnett.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
THOENEN
Russell James Thoenen, 42, Jefferson City, died Dec. 7, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1960, in Jefferson City, a son of Joseph and Evelyn Schepker Thoenen, who survive in Jefferson City.
He was a 1979 graduate of Jefferson City High School.
He worked for Joe Thoenen Construction and was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral.
Other survivors include: five brothers, Larry Thoenen and Lewis Thoenen, both of Jefferson City, Tom Thoenen, California, and William Thoenen and Mike Thoenen, both of Holts Summit; and two sisters, Donna Boehm and Carla Hertzing, both of Freeburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Cathedral. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
WARNER
Anastasia J. Warner, 80, Lake Ozark, died Dec. 6, 2002, at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.
She was born April 15, 1922, in East St. Louis, Ill., a daughter of Walter and Josephine Gregrowitz. She was married Feb. 13, 1943, in East St. Louis to Fred A. Warner, who survives at the home.
She was a homemaker. She was a Catholic and a member of the Eastern Star-East St. Louis chapter.
Other survivors include: three sons, Fredrick Warner, Leesburg, Fla., Walter Warner, Lake Ozark, and Robert Warner, Richland; one daughter, Joan Fay Malone, Belleville, Ill.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Hedges Funeral Home -- Lake Chapel, Osage Beach. Burial will be in the Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osage Beach.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
CONN
Roy Dustin Conn, 31, Columbia, died Dec. 7, 2002, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born July 23, 1971, in Butler, a son of Russell and Felicitas Dreher Conn, who survive in Pilot Grove. He was married May 11, 2002, to Stephanie Frazier, who survives at the home.
A former Pilot Grove resident, he was a 1989 graduate of Pilot Grove High School.
He worked for Capital Railroad Construction in Columbia.
Other survivors include: two sons, Kortlen Spencer Conn, Pilot Grove, and Cole Dustin Conn, Columbia; one daughter, Megan Michelle Conn, Boonville; one stepson, Kaleb Browning, Pilot Grove; two stepdaughters, Ciara Nicole Cundiff, Columbia, and Schuyler Browning, Pilot Grove; one brother, Kevin John Conn, Flagstaff, Ariz.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Meisenheimer Funeral Home, Pilot Grove. The Rev. Edwin Cole will officiate. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery, Latham.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Roy Conn Fund for the education of his children, at the Community First Bank, Boonville.
GAFFNEY
Richard Vaughan Gaffney, 92, Jefferson City, died Dec. 8, 2002, at Westphalia Retirement Center.
He was born Aug. 31, 1910, in West Somerville, Mass., a son of Edwin P and Clara Isabelle Vaughan Gaffney. He was married July 14, 1934, in Concord, Mass., to Marthe Cleo DeGagne, who died March 16, 1977.
He graduated in 1931 from North Senior High School, Great Neck, N.Y. He received a bachelor's of science degree in forestry from the University of Maine in 1935. He received a master's degree in education from Columbia University, where he received a permanent certificate as a science teacher. He was a tree skinner and helped prepare the grounds for the 1939 World's Fair in New York. He worked for 33 years as business manager for the Great Neck Public Schools, Long Island, N.Y., retiring in 1972.
He was a former member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Great Neck. He was a member of Omega Mu Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and a 50-year member of Ransomville Lodge 551, Free and Accepted Masons. He was a life member of VFW Post 832, South Portland, Maine and the University of Maine Alumni Association. He served as treasurer of Union Free School District 7 and was past president of the New York State Association of School Business Officials. He served as special deputy sheriff in Nassau County, N.Y. and was a member of the Great Neck Power Squadron. He served as a scout master of Troop 216 in Great Neck, was neighborhood commissioner with the Nassau County Council, Boy Scouts of America, and was post advisor for Explorer Post 108, Great Neck.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He formed a Boy Scout troop for North Korean prisoners of war and received the Honorary Chief Scout Commissioner award from the Korean Boy Scouts.
Survivors include one son, Richard M. Gaffney, Jefferson City, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Conley will officiate. Burial will be in All Saints Episcopal Churchyard, Great Neck.
Memorials are suggested to Wesley United Methodist Church, Highway 179 and Wesley Drive, Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.

MADDOX
Jennie E. Maddox, 82, Jefferson City, died Dec. 8, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 22, 1919, in Tebbetts, a daughter of John and Alma Ewens Dolman. She was married May 20, 1939, in Fulton, to Guy Oscar Maddox, who died Sept. 25, 1971.
A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, she attended school in rural Callaway County.
She worked as a cook with the Jefferson City public schools for 20 years, until her retirement in 1989.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Clifford Maddox, Jefferson City; two daughters, Carol Burns, Jefferson City, and Sharon Tippet, Holts Summit; one sister, Marion Branch, Fulton; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
One son, Clayton Maddox, died Nov. 9, 1997. One grandson also preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Janet Hoyland will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday.
