NEUHALFEN
Andrew P. Neuhalfen, 56, Chesterfield, formerly of Jefferson City, died Dec. 17, 2002.
He was born March 25, 1946. He was married to Elizabeth Blackwell Neuhalfen, who survives at the home.
He graduated from Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, La., with a degree in electrical engineering. He received a master's degree in engineering management from the University of Missouri-Rolla. He joined AmerenUE in 1974 and was an employee for more than 28 years and currently was manager of strategic safety/boiler tube failure reduction.
He served in supervision at AmerenUE in the Meramec and Labadie plants during the 1970s and early 1980s until he was named superintendent of operations for the Callaway Nuclear Plant in 1980. He was a member of the team that brought Missouri's only nuclear plant online in 1984. In 1989, he became manager of AmerenUE's plant in Labadie, a position he held until he was named manager of Rush Island Plant in Jefferson County. He assumed his most current position in 2002. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. While living in Jefferson City, he was a member of First Methodist Church and was active in the Little Theater of Jefferson City and the Jefferson City Cantorum. In St. Louis, he was active with Rotary Club of Franklin County and the Manchester United Methodist Church.
Other survivors include: one son, Kris Neuhalfen, Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Robyn Neuhalfen and Erin Neuhalfen, both of St. Louis; and one sister, Sandra Carpenter, of Omaha, Neb.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Manchester United Methodist Church, Manchester. Inurnment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery following the service.

ST. CLAIR
Mae C. St. Clair, 83, Jefferson City, died Dec. 16, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Roanoke, Va., a daughter of Earl Sr. and Porta Hawks Clements. She was married to Roy Edward St. Clair, who died Dec. 27, 1993.
She was a graduate of Roanoke High School. She was a homemaker and worked at Blacksburg Army Base, Blacksburg, Va. She was a bookkeeper for J.C. Penney and Sears Roebuck and Company for many years before her retirement. She was a Catholic.
Survivors include: one son, Eugene Bernard St. Clair Sr., Jefferson City; one daughter, Anita Louise Lowe, San Antonio, Texas ; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Friday in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.
SMOOT
Theodore "Ted" Smoot, 86, Jefferson City, died Dec. 16, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born June 9, 1916, in Poplar Bluff, a son of Daniel R. and Elsie Vandover Smoot. He was married June 17, 1939, to Ethel Karlish, who died April 11, 1998.
A former Poplar Bluff resident, he worked for Butler County Oil, Poplar Bluff.
He was a master gardener. He was a former resident of Port Richey, Fla. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: one daughter, Judith Allen, Jefferson City; one brother, William Aubrey "Jack" Smoot, Memphis, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

ZITO
Mary Louise Zito, 72, Westphalia, died Dec. 16, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born April 24, 1930, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Frank C. and Sophia Scheulen Rehagen. She was married Sept. 30, 1950, in Westphalia, to John Joseph Zito, who survives at the home.
She worked as a bookkeeper at Famous-Barr in St. Louis for 30 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia; Westphalia Senior Citizens; and a volunteer with the Westphalia Retirement Center.
Other survivors include: one brother, Frank A. Rehagen, Taos; and one sister, Betty Jane Odendahl, Puyallup, Wash.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert A. Kurwicki will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church or School, to the American Heart Association, or to Masses.
CHANDLER
Elizabeth C. Chandler, 77, Jefferson City, died Dec. 17, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 27, 1925, in Summerfield, a daughter of Joseph H. and Martha Ellen Johnson Light. She was married in 1943 to William Mushrush, who preceded her in death. She was married in 1953 to Charles Bowden, who preceded her in death. She was married in 1963 to Jack Chandler.
She attended schools in Belle, Freeburg and Vienna and graduated from eighth grade at Buzzard Rock School, Excelsior. She worked for Hercules Power Plant in Sunflower, Kan., the Missouri Highway Department and Gordon County Reality. She lived in the Virgin Islands prior to moving to Vienna. She moved to Jefferson City in 2001. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Jefferson City.
Survivors include one son, Ronald "Robin" Chandler, Jefferson City.
One son, William Joseph Mushrush, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Burial will be in Breeding Cemetery, Freeburg.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday.
COX
Kerrigan Jeanine Marie Cox, 15, Osage Beach, died Dec. 15, 2002, at Flagstaff Medical Center, Flagstaff, Ariz.
She was born March 25, 1987, in Fontana, Calif., a daughter of Tom Cox and Anita Lopez. Her mother, Anita, and stepfather, Pete Leyva, survive at the home.
She was a freshman at Camdenton High School and a member of Walk On The Water Faith Church, Osage Beach.
Other survivors include paternal grandmothers, Jeanine Llewelyn, Ontario, Canada and Lillian Osegueda, Bloomington, Calif.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Walk On The Water Faith Church. Pastor Larry Ollison will officiate. Burial will be in Hedges Cemetery, Camdenton.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.
ENGELBRECHT
Adam Engelbrecht, 73, Jefferson City, died Dec. 17, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born April 11, 1929, in Cole County, a son of August and Dora Propst Engelbrecht. He was married May 11, 1957, to Catherine "Kate" Ortmeyer, who survives at the home.
He attended school in Honey Creek. He was a farmer and worked in sales and service for Vermeer Balers for 20 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Honey Creek, where he served on the board of trustees and the board of education. He was a member of the Missouri Farm Bureau, where he served as vice president and on the board of directors. He served on the board of education for the Cole R-5 School District, Eugene, and drove a bus for the district for 18 years. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of VFW Post 1003 in Jefferson City.
Other survivors include: two sons, Neil Engelbrecht and Kent Engelbrecht, both of Jefferson City; one daughter, Faye A. Doerhoff, Jefferson City; one brother, Tony Engelbrecht, Jefferson City; six sisters, Leona Hoelscher, Freda Benne, Susie Schnieders, Marie Loesch and Dorothy Ehrhardt, all of Jefferson City, and Ruby Kautsch, Russellville; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Russell Bowder will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City.
