LAUCKS
Verne William Laucks, 78, Holts Summit, died Dec. 17, 2002, at Oak Tree Villa Nursing Center.
He was born Dec. 29, 1923, in Windsor, Pa., a son of Luther M. and Catherine Fitzkee Laucks. He was married Jan. 3, 1945, in Harrisburg, Pa., to Patricia Marie Gallion, who survives at the home.
He worked for the Missouri National Guard from 1946 until his retirement as a lieutenant colonel in 1978. After retiring from civil service, he opened a sharpening service. He was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church, Holts Summit, serving as deacon and Bible study teacher. He was an active community leader for 40 years. He helped start senior housing, the water system, the fire department and Summit Bank in Holts Summit. He served as bank director for Summit Bank, was on the Missouri National Guard Credit Union supervisor committee for two years and served on the board from 1964-1968. He was president of the Civic Association, president of the volunteer fire department from 1980-1985 and was on the board of directors for five years and served as secretary for two years. He served on the board of directors of Greenway Village Inc. from 1981-1984, on the Holts Summit Street Commission from 1980-1982, and served other community organizations. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include: three sons, William "Bill" Laucks, Larry Laucks and Michael "Mike" Laucks, all of Holts Summit; one daughter, Cynthia Laucks, Jefferson City; three brothers and five sisters; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
One son, Stephen Laucks, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Union Hill Baptist Church, Holts Summit. The Rev. G. Dale Norfolk and the Rev. David Higgs will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Jefferson City.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home or Union Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit.
REYNOLDS
Billy R. "Bill" Reynolds, 60, Mountain View, died Dec. 17, 2002, in Mountain View.
He was born Dec. 11, 1942, in Eldon, a son of William E. and Nellie Karr Reynolds.
He was a teacher most of his life, spending the last six years at Liberty High School, Mountain View. He taught business education with an emphasis on computer science. He was a pianist and organist. He attended the Christian Church in Mountain View. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include one sister, Shirley Alderman, Olean.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Jay Quinn will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett. Services also will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mountain View Christian Church, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
ROBERTS
Helen V. Roberts, 86, Rocky Mount, formerly of Jefferson City, died Dec. 18, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 5, 1916, in Jefferson City, a daughter of William F. and Lillian Gibler McKinney. She was married Oct. 30, 1937, in Jefferson City, to Jay Frank Roberts, who died Nov. 28, 1993.
A lifelong Central Missouri resident, she attended school in rural Cole County. She was a homemaker and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include: five nephews, William F. McKinney, Russellville, Dennis L. McKinney and Mark D. McKinney, both of Jefferson City, Fred J. McKinney, Elston, and Bob J. McKinney, Warrensburg; two nieces, Brenda Gandy and Diane Minor, both of the state of California.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Thomas W. Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
SHANKS
Dorothy Mae Shanks, 66, Bland, died Dec. 17, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Aug. 13, 1936, in Jefferson City, a daughter of George and Nellie Gilmore Lairmore. She was married Sept. 6, 1956, to David Shanks, who survives at the home.
She was a member of Belle Church of Christ.
Other survivors include: one son, Andy Shanks, Belle; three daughters, Georgia Lynne Burchfield, Bland, Rhonda Jeoffroy, Belle, and Rebecca Basham, Bland; one brother, Herschel Lairmore, Marshfield; one sister, Mary Lou Jackson, Clarksburg; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Belle Church of Christ. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, south of Belle.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at Sassmann's Chapel, Belle.
BAGNULL
Paul E. Bagnull, 64, Jefferson City, died Dec. 19, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born March 8, 1938, in Newton Falls, Ohio, a son of George D. and Janet M. Snyder Bagnull. His mother survives in Somerset, Ky. He was married Oct. 26, 1963, in Jefferson City, to Irma M. Mueller, who survives at the home.
He graduated from Newton Falls, Ohio, High School in 1956. He served in the Navy from 1958 until his retirement in 1977, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He lived in Jefferson City for the past 25 years and worked in food service with the Missouri Dept. of Corrections for eight years. He also co-owned and operated Bagnull's Ceramics & Porcelain.
He was a member of Central United Church of Christ; VFW, Wyman Basinger Post 35; American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; and the Fleet Reserve Association.
Other survivors include: two sons, Gary L. Bagnull, Kirkland, Wash., and Alan J. Bagnull, Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Irma Rene Miserez and Lori J. Higgins, both of Jefferson City; two brothers, his twin, Roger Bagnull, Austin, Texas , and George Bagnull, Doylestown, Pa.; one sister, Karen Casedy, Somerset, Ky.; three grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Central United Church of Christ. The Rev. Stephen Buchholz will officiate. Graveside services with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Freeman Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Bell Choir Fund of Central United Church of Christ; the American Cancer Society; or a charity of the donor's choice.
EHRHARDT
Erna Bertha Ehrhardt, 104, Jefferson City, died Dec. 20, 2002, at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.
She was born Aug. 7, 1898, near Jefferson City, a daughter of J.W. and Elizabeth Beck Fischer. She was married Nov. 8, 1922, near Jefferson City, to Oscar Ehrhardt, who died Feb. 28, 1985.
She worked as an election official at local polls for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Women's Auxiliary.
She helped found and was a member of the Happy Hour Extension Club for almost 50 years.
Survivors include: one son, Alfred Ehrhardt, Jefferson City; one daughter, Clara Hansen, Columbia; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City. The Rev. John Hobratschk will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Zion Cemetery Fund.
DULIN
Services were today for Jewell T. Dulin, 95, Hermann, who died Dec. 18, 2002, at Frene Valley Health Care Center, Hermann.
She was born March 27, 1907, in Portland, a daughter of J. Walter and Minnie Thune Dulin.
She worked in the clerical department at the Army Personnel Center, St. Louis.
Survivors include one nephew, Harold Dulin, Pacific.
Graveside services were in Portland Cemetery. Bruce Williamson officiated.
