HACKMANN
Debra Mouser Hackmann, 48, Fulton, died Dec. 23, 2002, at her home.
She was born Dec. 20, 1954, in Poplar Bluff, a daughter of Robert and Loretta Mouser, who survive. She was married May 24, 1980, in Fulton, to Bruce Hackmann, who survives at the home.
She graduated in 1976 from William Woods College, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education and was outstanding graduate of the class of 1976. She received a master's degree in higher and adult education from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1995. She worked for Proctor and Gamble Co., in Champaign, Ill., and for William Woods University for 22 years. At William Woods she held the positions of director of alumnae affairs, dean of students and vice-president for student services. She received numerous awards including the Order of the Green Owl from the National Alumnae Association, the Outstanding Service award from WWU Alumni Association and the Alumna Service award from the Fulton Board of Associations. She was a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the Association for Student Judicial Affairs and American College Personnel Association.
She was involved in volunteer organizations including, Fulton School District Strategic Planning Action Team and the committee for Excellence in Education. She served as the Callaway County United Way Board fund drive chairperson and president. She was Fulton Middle School PTO president. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as trustee and Sunday school teacher.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Lindsay Hackmann and Meredith Hackmann, both of Fulton; one brother Bob Mouser, Harrison, Ark.; one sister, Terra Mouser, Creve Coeur.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Stephen Sowder will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Family Life Center Building Fund at First Baptist Church or the Debra Mouser Hackmann Endowment Scholarship Fund, William Woods University.
Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.
HERNDON
Clifford S. Herndon, 89, Linn, died Dec. 23, 2002, at Green Meadows Skilled Care Facility.
He was born Dec. 21, 1913, in Cooper Hill, a son of Charles and Amanda Schreiman Herndon. He was married May 22, 1946, in Linn, to Jane F. Schnitzler, who survives at the home.
He was a graduate of Linn R-2 High School. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 39 years, retiring as the postmaster in Linn. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, the Linn VFW Post 4756. Linn Masonic Lodge, Osage Trail Riders and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include: five daughters, Peggy A. Hicks, Jefferson City, Marsha E. Baclesse, Hartsburg, Betty Jean Morton, Linn, Mary A. Davis, LakevillE, Minn., and Marlene B. Niederhelm, Defiance; two brothers, Charles R. "Dick" Herndon, Jefferson City, and William R. "Billy" Herndon, Lonedell; one sister, Bonnie Stiesmeyer, Jefferson City; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's United Methodist Church, Linn. The Rev. Tony Townley will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in Linn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn.

LENGER
Mathilda E. Lenger, 88, Jefferson City, died Dec. 23, 2002, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born Oct. 15, 1914, in Moniteau County, a daughter of Frank C. and Sophia L. Michalski Stock. She was married Sept. 18, 1937, in Boonville, to Harold Lenger, who died March 1, 1982.
She was an Avon representative for over 20 years and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Trinity Lutheran Women's Auxiliary. She made Braille books for many years.
Survivors include: one son, Leroy Lenger, Jefferson City; one daughter, Hazel Dorge, Jefferson City; one sister, Bertha Gerding, New Franklin; three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Hobratschk will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.

SCHAFFER
Victor Schaffer, 80, St. Ann, died Dec. 21, 2002, at Life Care Center, Bridgeton.
He was born May 28, 1922, in St. Anthony, a son of John and Emma Bax Schaffer. He was married June 24, 1944, in St. Louis, to Anna Ewers, who died Jan. 9, 2002.
He owned Schaffer sheet metal and worked for Baer sheet metal. He was a sheet metal layout man at Huesmann and Kisco's, where he retired. He was a member of St. Kevin's Church, St. Ann and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: six sons, Gary Schaffer, Ronald Schaffer, Gene Schaffer and Fritz Schaffer, all of St. Louis, Harold Schaffer, Cleveland, Ohio, and Darren Schaffer, Granite City; five daughters, Kathleen Vaughn, Dolly Hillis and Laverne Brown, all of St. Louis, Carolyn Weldon, St. Clair, and Elaine Ghirardi, Granite City; two brothers, John Schaffer, Jefferson City and Fred Schaffer, Iberia; 32 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
One infant son, Gerald James Schaffer, and three grandchildren, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Church in St. Ann. The Rev. John Leykam will officiate. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Baumann Funeral Home, Overland.

STROBEL
Hewitt Douglas Strobel, 47, Lohman, died Dec. 23, 2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident west of Jefferson City.
He was born Nov. 13, 1955, in California, a son of Gus and Nita Schoch Strobel. His father survives in Jefferson City. He was married June 15, 1974, in Russellville, to Elizabeth "Liz" Raithel, who survives at the home.
He was a 1973 graduate of Russellville High School and graduated from Lincoln University in 1993 with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture and natural resources. He was attending Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City. He was ordained in January 2000 and served as associate pastor of Russellville Baptist Church until November 2002, when he became associate pastor at Concord Baptist Church. He owned and operated Strobel Farms Inc. in Lohman and was manager of Tharp Home Center in Jefferson City for 12 years.
He initiated National World Changers projects in Jefferson City and was project coordinator from 2000-2002. He was project coordinator in Casper, Wyo., and had initiated projects for 2003 in St. Louis, Cape Girardeau and Trenton. He was youth leader at Russellville Baptist Church from 1984-1999, where he led the Royal Ambassadors, Crusaders, Pioneers, and began World Changers program in Russellville. He was instrumental in initiating the non-denominational Young Life program in Russellville and the founding of the Russellville Youth Center.
He served on the Cole County R-1 school board and was a member of Missouri Baptist Convention strategic mission team. He received the state FFA degree in 1973 and the Outstanding Farm Family award for farm management in 1982.
Other survivors include: one son, Nathan Strobel, Lohman, three daughters, Debbie Strobel, Anna Strobel, and Leah Strobel, all of Lohman; two sisters, Sue Henley and Karen Cady, both of Lohman.
One son, Christopher Strobel, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Concord Baptist Church. Paul Young and Monte Shinkle will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Russellville.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.
Memorials are suggested to the Strobel children's college fund or World Changers.
HAYNES
James Ferguson Haynes Jr., 52, Jefferson City, died Dec. 24, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Aug. 28, 1950, in New Bloomfield, a son of James F. Sr., and Jenny Perry Haynes.
He was a 1968 graduate of New Bloomfield High School. He worked for Florsheim Shoes in Jefferson City for 29 years. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include: one son, Billy Joe Haynes, Jefferson City; two daughters, Chelle Elizabeth Haynes, Valley Park, and Christina Ann Haynes, Jefferson City; two brothers, Ralph Haynes, St. Clair, and Edna Carmichael, Columbia; one grandson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
MEYERS
Mae Jeanne Meyers, 53, Jefferson City, died Dec. 24, 2002, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
She was born Oct. 19, 1949, in Marshall, a daughter of Clifton and Wilma Curl Kieffer. Her father survives in Bosworth. She was married Nov. 11, 1992, in Las Vegas, to Ed Meyers, who survives at the home.
She was a 1967 graduate of Bosworth High School and attended Bemidji State University in Minnesota. She worked for the Missouri Division of Family Services as unit manager until her retirement. She worked as a temporary staff member at the Missouri Department of Insurance. She was a member of the Hurricane Baptist Church near Hale and the Temple Beth El in Jefferson City.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Lora Nelson, Holts Summit; one brother, Randy Kieffer, Bosworth; one sister, Susan Caselman, Bucklin.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hurricane Baptist Church. The Rev. Wendell Turner will officiate. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Miami.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City, and from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
