OBERJUERGE

Nadine Marie Oberjuerge, 79, Gravois Mills, died Jan. 4, 2003, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born April 8, 1923, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Gus F. and Carrie H. Meister Kline. She was married Oct. 3, 1942, in  Jefferson City, to Homer K. Oberjuerge, who survives at the home.

She was a 1941 graduate of high school in  Jefferson City. She was a secretary for the United States Division of Fish and Wildlife in  Jefferson City. She moved to Kansas City in 1946 and worked for 33 years for the United States General Accounting Office. She retired in 1979 and moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Greenview. She was involved in the American Legion Auxiliary, the Twin Island Fishing Club, AARP, Laurie Care Center, Central Missouri Area Agency on Aging, where she was on the board of directors.

She was a member of Lake Bloomers Garden Club, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, where she served as chairman and service officer, and was president of West Lake Newcomers Club. She was active in Morgan County CMAAA, where she served on the board of directors.

She was active in Gravois Fire District Auxiliary, Lake of the Ozarks Yachting Association, Lake West Chamber of Commerce, Lady Lakers Red Hat Society, Sunrise Beach Little Theatre, Morgan and Camden County Habitats for Humanity and Morgan and Camden County Historical Societies.

She was a member of the  Jefferson City High School Alumni Association and Trinity Lutheran Alumni Association. She served as president of AARP Chapter 1136 and Laurie Care Center/Knolls Guild.

She was national outstanding volunteer for the Chamber of Commerce in 1995.

She received the Best Friend Award in 1999 as Missouri's outstanding volunteer for Blue Cross-Blue Shield.

She received the Lake West Chamber's Eagle Award for volunteerism in 2001 and was grand marshall of the Christmas parade.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church. Pastor Robin D. Fish will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

OSMAN

William Anthony "Bill" Osman, 38,  Jefferson City, died Jan. 4, 2003, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

He was born March 9, 1964, in Millington, Tenn., a son of Robert C. and Mary L. Brandmeier Osman. His father and stepmother, Robert and Kay Osman, survive in Cocoa Beach, Fla.

He was a graduate of  Jefferson City Senior High School and Lincoln University. He worked in construction and was in restaurant work. He was a member of The Word Church, where he was a Bible teacher. He was an Army veteran.

Other survivors include: three brothers, Joseph M. Osman, Utica, N.Y., Robert C. Osman, Eugene, and John H. Osman, Cedar Park, Texas ; six sisters, Anna M. Osman, Mountain Grove, Cecilia C. Podzimek, Buchlin, Mary T. Willson, Huntsville, Ala., Rose A. Zeringue, Houma, La., and Rita C. Huff and Jane E. Osman, both of  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Ann McEowen will officiate. Private burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to The Word Church.

PARKER

Marshall Marion Parker, 74,  Jefferson City, died Jan. 4, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Meta, a son of William A. and Bertha I. Woody Parker.

He was a 1946 graduate of Vienna High School. He graduated from Lincoln University with degrees in English, elementary education and industrial arts. He was a teacher at Thompson Hill School in Meta, St. Elizabeth Elementary School and Vienna High School. He worked as an instructor and chairman of communications at Linn Technical College from 1968-1977, when he retired. He was a real estate developer in the Central Missouri area. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include: one daughter, Kimberly A. Parker,  Jefferson City; two brothers, Loren Parker, Meta and Gene Parker,  Jefferson City; and one sister, Mae Surber, St. Ann.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Freeman Mortuary. Graveside services with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association or a charity of the donor's choice.

CHAPMAN

Helen Marie Chapman, 85,  Jefferson City, died Jan. 4, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Elston, a daughter of John and Hattie Surface Melcher. She was married March 28, 1937, in Boonville, to Elmer W. "Gabby" Chapman, who died Oct. 10, 1966.

She was a 1935 graduate of  Jefferson City High School. She worked for the Missouri Department of Revenue in the taxation division until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral and the Legion of Mary.

Survivors include: one son, Donald Chapman, Des Moines, Iowa; two daughters, Beverly Schnieders and Sally Chapman, both of  Jefferson City; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Joe Corel will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Samaritan Center or the Helias Foundation.

GARVEY

Dot Garvey, 94, Osage Beach, died Jan. 6, 2003, in Osage Beach.

She was born Jan 1, 1909, in St. Louis, a daughter of Edwin and Ester Bacharach Wise. She was married Oct. 28, 1927, in Jerseyville, Ill., to Raymond D. Garvey, who died July 13, 1988.

She moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1943 and owned and operated Folded Hills Diningroom at Lake Ozark. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eldon, and was a past member of the Eldon Country Club.

Survivors include one son, James Garvey, Locust Grove, Va., 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

One son, Daniel Garvey, one daughter, Joyce Williamson, and one grandson, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. James J. O'Sullivan will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 9-10:45 a.m. Thursday, at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Federation of the Blind or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

GAIA

John Archie Gaia, 48, Bishop, Texas , died Jan. 3, 2003, in Kingsville, Texas .

He was born Aug. 20, 1954, in Memphis, Tenn., a son of Frank J. and Pauline Gaia.

He was a retired produce owner. He also had worked as a cook at the Naval Air Station, Kingsville, Texas .

Survivors include: one son, Richard Gaia, Ashland; and one brother, Frank Gaia, Bishop, Texas .

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bartlett Funeral Home, Bartlett, Tenn. Burial will be private.

JONES

Kay Jones, 58, Eldon, died Jan. 5, 2003, in Eldon.

She was born Sept. 22, 1944, in Lake Charles, La., a daughter of Lestor G. Sr., and Alieta Anna Etzel Ballard. She was married April 4, 1982, in Bridge City, Texas , to James T. Jones, who survives at the home.

She was a homemaker and restaurant worker. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She lived in the Eldon area for 10 years.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Debra Lawrence, Vidor, Texas , and Rebecca Wyatt and Heather Crow, both of Eldon; two stepsons, Walter Popps, Yokum, Texas , and Andy Popps, state of Tennessee; three stepdaughters, Jamie Wilson, Orange, Texas , Cynthia Gibson, Port Neches, Texas , and Patricia Stevens, Plaquminc, La.; and 13 grandchildren.

One daughter, Barbara Kay Popps, and one granddaughter, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Visitation also will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Claybar Funeral Home, Orange, Texas . Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Jett Cemetery, Orange, Texas .
