WERNER
Louise Isabel Werner, 64, Jefferson City, died July 12, 1999, at her home.
She was born
Sept. 23, 1934, in Alton, Ill., a daughter of Alva and Lucille C. Surey Conner.
She graduated from Alton High School and Alton Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, where she received a degree in registered nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse at St. Marys Health Center and worked at Taco Bell for 14 years until her retirement.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and a member and past president of the Lioness Club. She was active in Meals on Wheels, the American Red Cross, Girl Scouts and Habitat for Humanity.
Survivors include: three daughters, Michele W. Duda, St. Louis, and Kristina K. Mellott and Gretchen L. Werner, both of Jefferson City; two brothers, Gerald Conner, Godfrey, Ill., and Richard Conner, Brighton, Ill.; two sisters, Janet Anderson, Brighton, and Mary Gierer, St. Louis; and three grandchildren.
Private family services will be held.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Buescher Memorial Home.
Memorials are suggested to Habitat for Humanity or Community Hospice of America, Columbia, Mo.
KAULLEN
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Riverview Cemetery for Helen E. Kaullen, 90, Ocala, Fla., formerly of Jefferson City. The Rev. Larry Veatch will officiate.
She died Jan. 8, 1998, at Palm Garden Nursing Center, Ocala. The remains were donated to science.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.
HEDGES
Maryanne K. Hedges, 55, Jefferson City, died July 13, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born
May 11, 1944, in Marion, Iowa, a daughter of Clyo and Emma Krob Castle. Her mother survives in Jefferson City. She was married
Aug. 3, 1968, in Marion, Iowa, to Lyle H. Hedges, who survives at the home.
She attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colo., and received a bachelor's degree from Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1968. She was a teacher at Maries County R-2 School, Vienna, for the 1997-1998 school year. She also taught in Linn, Taos and Loose Creek, and was a substitute teacher.
Other survivors include: one son, Scott M. Hedges, of the home; one foster daughter, Elaine Gann, Jefferson City; and one brother, John K. Castle, New York City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dorothy Lairmore will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Home.
ECTON
Michael L. Ecton, 22, Versailles, died July 13, 1999, near Gravois Mills.

DECKER
Harold Elwood Decker, 78, Versailles, died July 13, 1999, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.
He was born
March 2, 1921, in St. Joseph, a son of Claude R. and Orphia A. Marriott Decker. He was married
June 17, 1939, in Chillicothe, to Marie Ogle, who survives at the home.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was chief of police in Versailles. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Versailles.
Other survivors include: one son, Steven R. Decker, Versailles; one daughter, Cindy L. Blakley, Camdenton; four brothers, Bill Decker and Rex Decker, both of Versailles, Bob Decker, Blue Springs, and Bill Ogle, Avilla; one sister, Louise Riley, Gentry, Ark.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, Versailles. The Rev. William Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Ritchie Cemetery, near Versailles.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles.
Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church, Versailles.
ASBURY
Virginia Asbury, 86, Eldon, died July 8, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach.
She was born
July 22, 1912, in Rocky Mount, a daughter of Lee and Ella McDonald Sidebottom.
She was a cook at the Bagnell Dam construction site. A licensed practical nurse, she worked in Kansas City.
Survivors include: three nieces, Louella Hess, Rocky Mount, Elizabeth Neeley, St. Louis, and Virginia Curtner, O'Fallon, Ill.; and one nephew, Truman Radcliff, Summerville, S.C.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Union Cemetery, Rocky Mount. John Shifflet will officiate. The remains were cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Foundation.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
CHEEK
Norman B. Cheek, 92, Jefferson City, died July 15, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born
March 5, 1907, in Marquand, a son of Ode and Lily Dameron Cheek. He was married
to Ora Haynes, who died July 20, 1992. He was married
Nov. 29, 1992, to Edna Nobles Ridlen, who survives at the home.
He attended school in Glenallen. He was a laborer for Ford Motor Co. in Hazelwood from 1948 until his retirement in 1969. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Modern Woodsmen, and a past member of First Baptist Church, Marble Hill.
Other survivors include: two sons, Robert L. Cheek, St. Louis, and Bill G. Cheek, Cascade; one stepdaughter, Karen Grace, Jefferson City; one stepson, Roger Ridlen, Walterboro, S.C.; three grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Doyle Sager and the Rev. Tom Nelson will officiate. Services also will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Liley Funeral Home, Marble Hill. The Rev. Fred Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in Old Trace Creek Cemetery, Glenallen.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

LAATSCH
Beth Hayes Laatsch, 85, Little Orleans, Md., formerly of Jefferson City, died July 11, 1999, in Little Orleans.
She was born
Sept. 6, 1913, in Corder, a daughter of John A. and Eva Elizabeth O'Malley Wollenman.
She attended Lindenwood College, St. Charles, and graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in journalism. In the 1930s and 1940s, she worked as a reporter for the Evansville Courier Journal, Evansville, Ind.; The Oklahoma City Oklahoman, Oklahoma City; and The Dayton Herald, Dayton, Ohio. She also was city editor for the Columbia Missourian and was an associate professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism in the 1940s.
She retired in 1980 after working 25 years as an elementary teacher. Her most recent teaching position was in Carrollton, Mich. She was a member of Community Christian Church and Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include: one daughter, Trish Twentey, Little Orleans; and two sisters, Jackie Hearne, Jefferson City, and Mary C. Lane, Westphalia.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. David Avery will officiate. Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.

OUSLEY
Dorothy M. Ousley, 67, McGirk, died July 14, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born
Oct. 7, 1931, in Cole Junction, a daughter of Bert and Mattie Smith. She was married
Dec. 29, 1949, in Centertown, to John Howard Ousley, who survives at the home.
A 1949 graduate of Jefferson City High School, she was a homemaker.
Other survivors include one son, Keith Ousley, Holts Summit, and three granddaughters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Luther Smith will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
TILLEY
Clarence Eugene Tilley, 61, Dixon, died July 4, 1999, at General Leonard Wood United States Army Community Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood.
He was born
April 13, 1938, in Pineville, W.Va., a son of Jesse and Virgie Mullens Tilley. He was married
May 19, 1963, in Bamburg, Germany, to Monica Marianne Bulow, who survives at the home.
An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was awarded two Purple Hearts. He retired from the Army as a first sergeant after 21 years.
Others survivors include: four daughters, Diana Bowman and Patricia Bahr, both of Rolla, Sandra McNeil, Salem, and Marion York, Dixon; two brothers, Bobby Tilley, state of Virginia, and Chuck Tilley, Pineville; two sisters, Judy Beth Midkiff, Pineville, and Darla Dean Steward, state of Alabama; and eight grandchildren.
He was cremated. Services and inurnment were held previously.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
