HOUSTON
Kenneth C. "Jumbo" Houston, 70, Barnett, died Jan. 19, 2003, at the Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.
He was born May 4, 1932, in Eldon, a son of Eunice M. Houston.
He is survived by cousins.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Ronnie Hess will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Barnett.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
McCOLLOM
Claude D. McCollom, 53, Stover, died Jan. 19, 2003, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.
He was born June 5, 1949, in Proctor, a son of Martha J. McCollom. He was married March 2, 1974, in Barnett, to Flossie M. Meeks, who survives at the home.
He was a 1969 graduate of Stover High School and was an Army veteran.
He worked for the Paul Alpers turkey farm, Versailles, and the Allstate Manufacturing Plant, Versailles. He was a member of Stover First Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: one son, Claude Joseph "Joe" McCollom, Stover; four brothers, Leroy McCollom, Kansas City, Harvey McCollom and Herman Wilson, both of Versailles, and John Whitlock, Stover; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Nelson Daniel McCollom Sr.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Stover First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dinzel Webb will officiate. Burial will be in the Stover Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. today at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover. The family will be available from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
VOIGT
Pearl E. Voigt, 90, Grandview, died Jan. 19, 2003, at St. Joseph Health Center, Kansas City.
She was born July 8, 1912, in Colorado, a daughter of James and Lina Porter. She was married July 12, 1936, in California, to Charles E. Voigt, who died March 9, 1977.
She was a 1932 graduate of California High School and received her teaching certificate from Central Missouri State University.
She was a teacher in Moniteau County. She was a member of First Baptist Church, California, where she worked in the nursery, and the Sunshine Club.
Survivors include: two daughters, Esther Judkins, Grandview, and Martha Lane, Kansas City; one sister, Margery Meredith, Oceanside, Calif.; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services. The Rev. Greg Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in California Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, California.
VLASIS
Linda Lou Vlasis, 51, Camdenton, died Jan. 16, 2003, at Ozark Care Center, Osage Beach.
She was born March 29, 1951, in St. Louis, a daughter of George and Dorothy Thompson Vlasis. Her mother survives at the home.
She was a 1968 graduate of The Richmar and went on to IBM school, secretary school and beauty school.
Other survivors include: one brother, Gary Vlasis, Osage Beach; and one sister, Dorothy Vlasis.
Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Bob Aubuchon will officiate.
BOLTEN
Gertrude Bolten, 91, Independence, died Jan. 20, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center.
She was born June 19, 1911, in California, a daughter of Matthew and Kathryn Cordoray Reed. She was married to Chris Bolten, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament study group and Nativity of Mary Altar and Rosary societies.
Survivors include: three sons, Arthur Bolten and Ray Bolten, both of Independence, and Harvey Bolten, Odessa; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Dorothy Kessler, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Mt. Olive Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Sheil Colonial Funeral Chapel, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Hospital or Shriners Burn Unit.
BRET
John E. Bret, 78, Jefferson City, died Jan. 21, 2003, at Jefferson City Manor Care.
He was born Sept. 25, 1924, in Bonnots Mill, a son of William and Wilma Kloeppel Bret.
He was a lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area and graduated from St. Peters High School in Jefferson City. He received a degree in engineering from the University of Missouri. He worked as an engineer with Ameren UE until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of VFW Roy Sone Post 1003, the American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5 and the Society of Professional Engineers. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include: one son, Allen Bret, Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Lauren Bret Sullens, Jefferson City; two sisters, Carolyn Benz, Bonner Springs, Kan., and Mary Freitag, York Harbor, Maine; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Freeman Mortuary. David Scott will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to American Parkinson Disease Association.
BAUGHMAN
Alpha I. Baughman, 94, California, died Jan. 22, 2003, at Moniteau Care Center.
Arrangements are at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California.
BROADWELL
Dorothy MacKellar Broadwell, 103, died Jan. 22, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Oct. 2, 1899, in Chicago, a daughter of Horace and Mae Tyner MacKellar. She was married Feb. 9, 1931, in Los Angeles, to William Broadwell, who died Dec. 27, 1972.
She attended high school in the state of California. She was a homemaker and a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church, Green Bay, Wis. She was a member of PEO, Chapter DY in Plantation, Fla.
Survivors include: one daughter, Barbara West, Jefferson City; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
One son, William Broadwell Jr., preceded her in death.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. Barry L. Hoskins will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Saturday.
