SCHMITZ
Margaret Elizabeth "Motzie" Schmitz, 91, Jefferson City, died Jan. 21, 2003, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged.
She was born Sept. 2, 1911, in Wardsville, a daughter of Peter and Mary Westerman Schrimpf. She was married March 4, 1930, in Jefferson City, to Tobias William Schmitz, who died Nov. 15, 1983.
She was a homemaker and was employed with International Shoe Factory for four years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Ann's Sodality and St. Marys Health Center Auxiliary.
Survivors include: three sons, Alfred H. Schmitz, Frank W. Schmitz and Kenneth B. Schmitz, all of Jefferson City; one daughter, Mary D. Noonan, Jefferson City; 20 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
Two infant daughters, Carol Ann Schmitz and Frances Schmitz, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. John J. Schmitz will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

SHELEY
Lucille Elizabeth Sheley, 87, Dexter, formerly of Jefferson City, died Jan. 21, 2003, at Cypress Point Health Care, Dexter.
She was born Nov. 30, 1915, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Alfred F. "Spot" and Mary Margaret Grafe Renn. She was married Feb. 15, 1936, in Jefferson City, to Woodford "Woody" C. Sheley, who died Feb. 4, 1988.
She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School and graduated from Jefferson City Senior High School. She worked for Union State Bank, Clinton, as ration and loan officer. She worked for the State of Missouri in the treasurer's office, for the secretary of state, in the Senate clerk's office and was executive secretary for the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. She was appointed circuit clerk of Cole County, where she worked for 22 years, having been elected twice. She was appointed personnel officer for the Department of Safety before her retirement in 1981.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter and was a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Glennon Circle, charter member and past president of Karim Khan Grotto Auxiliary and was a member of St. Ann's Sodality of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a member of Federated Democratic Women's Clubs, past president of Cole County Women's Jefferson Democratic Club, past chairman of Cole County Democratic committee, past chairman of 8th District Central committee and past president of 8th Congressional District Women's Club. She was past president of Missouri Federated Democratic Women's Club and a former liaison officer for district, state and regional offices in Jefferson City, Kansas City and Chicago.
Survivors include: one son, the Rev. John William Sheley, Dexter; and one sister, Josephine H. Duncan, Columbia.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. John William Sheley, the Rev. Peter Ullrich and the Rev. Patrick Dolan will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Buescher Memorial Home, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Endowment Fund of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dexter, or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jefferson City.
HAMAKER
Joan Lee Hamaker, 66, Lake Ozark, died Jan 21, 2003.
She was born June 8, 1936, in Schenectady, N.Y., a daughter of Herman E. and Alma Gutheil Priwer. She was married April 27, 1957, in Dekalb, Ill., to Harold R. Hamaker Jr., who preceded her in death.
She was a Lake resident for 25 years and worked with a local law firm and was assistant manager for a local restaurant.
Survivors include: two daughters, Candice Hamaker and Kathleen Olauson, both of Lake Ozark; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at a later date in Columbus, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.
Memorials are suggested to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
BARKLEY
Ann C. Barkley, 89, Sunrise Beach, died Jan. 21, 2003, in Sunrise Beach.
Arrangements are at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.
CUNDIFF
Robert Lee Cundiff, 66, Centertown, died Jan. 21, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born June 30, 1936, in Guthrie, a son of Clellie J. and Mary Lee Spencer Cundiff. His stepmother, Beulah Cundiff, survives in Holts Summit. He was married Oct. 21, 1972, in Russellville, to Sandra Shoults, who survives at the home.
He was a security guard for the National Guard and was an Army veteran.
Other survivors include: one son, Fred Cundiff, Fulton; one daughter, Linda Gilpin, Columbia; three stepsons, Roger Abbott, Terry Abbott and Bo Abbott; three stepdaughters, Doris Abbott, Betty Volmert and Jeannette Abbott; two brothers, Curt Cundiff and Jim Cundiff, both of Holts Summit; four sisters, Dorothy Fox, Jefferson City, and Edna Barrett, Betty Lou Ousley and Linda Hale, all of Holts Summit; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Centertown Baptist Church. The Rev. John Gorham will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. Additional visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family, American Diabetes Association or American Lung Association.
PETERSON
John R. Peterson, 84, Farmington, died Jan. 16, 2003, at Camelot Nursing Home.
He was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Everest, Kan., a son of Torkel and Hilda Ross Peterson. He was married to Peggy Jackson, who survives.
He worked as a lineman for the Union Electric Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Whiting, Kan., the Royal Arch Masons, Eldon, and was a life-time member of VFW.
Other survivors include: three sons, Sam Stimpson, Blytheville, Ark., Stanley Stimpson, state of New Jersey, and Steve Stimpson, Burkburnett, Texas ; two daughters, Theora Peterson, Eldon, and Judy Peterson, Kansas City; one sister, Margaret Niehaus, Rockford, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at a later date in Eldon.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cozean Memorial Chapel, Farmington.
SCHMITZ

LATHAM
Norma M. Latham, 88, California, died Jan. 22, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 28, 1914, in Lupus, a daughter of Robert G. and Ella Walker Moore. She was married Dec. 25, 1939, in Centertown, to Kenyon S. Latham, who died March 31, 1988.
She graduated in 1933 from Centertown High School and attended Capitol City Business School in Jefferson City. She was a homemaker and worked in several positions at Latham Hospital. She was a member of the First Christian Church, California, and the Women's Christian Fellowship of the church. She was a founding member of the Twin City Garden Club, assisted with Red Cross blood drives, volunteered at the Wood Place Library and was an election poll worker for many years.
Survivors include: two sons, Kenyon Latham Jr., St. Paul, Minn., and David Latham, New York, N.Y.; one brother, Robert Moore, Ft. Madison, Iowa; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church. The Rev. David Nicholson will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, California.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services.
