LATHAM

Norma M. Latham, 88, California, died Jan. 22, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 28, 1914, in Lupus, a daughter of Robert G. and Ella Walker Moore. She was married Dec. 25, 1939, in Centertown, to Kenyon S. Latham, who died March 31, 1988.

She graduated in 1933 from Centertown High School and attended Capitol City Business School in  Jefferson City. She was a homemaker and worked in several positions at Latham Hospital. She was a member of the First Christian Church, California, and the Women's Christian Fellowship of the church. She was a founding member of the Twin City Garden Club, assisted with Red Cross blood drives, volunteered at the Wood Place Library and was an election poll worker for many years.

Survivors include: two sons, Kenyon Latham Jr., St. Paul, Minn., and David Latham, New York, N.Y.; one brother, Robert Moore, Ft. Madison, Iowa; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church. The Rev. David Nicholson will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, California.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services.

Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church Memorial Fund, 107 N. Oak St., California, MO 65018.

ROMINE

Austin Lee Romine, infant son of Steve Jr. and Heather McGee Romine, Mt. Sterling, died Jan. 23, 2003, at his home.

He was born Dec. 29, 2002, in  Jefferson City.

Other survivors include: one brother, Jesse Haslag, Taos; paternal grandparents, Steve Sr. and Judy Romine,  Jefferson City; paternal great-grandmother, Frances Kieselbach,  Jefferson City; maternal step grandfather and grandmother, Randy and Wilma Haslag, Taos, maternal grandfather, Bill Wilson, Arizona; and maternal great-grandmother, Wilma McGee, Mt. Sterling.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors,  Jefferson City. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to SIDS research.

ZUMBEHL

Ralph Zumbehl, 91, Middletown, died Jan. 22, 2003, in Wellsville.

He was born Jan. 2, 1912, in St. Charles, a son of Robert and Edna Barklage Zumbehl. He was married Sept. 25, 1937, in St. Charles, to Iona Ida Bruns, who died April 4, 1967. He was married Feb. 6, 1971, in Wellsville, to Gladys Logan, who survives at the home.

A farmer, he was a former member of the St. Charles Farm Bureau. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Charles and served on the Immanuel Lutheran Church School Board. He later attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Wellsville, serving as an elder and Sunday school teacher.

Other survivors include: four sons, Howard Zumbehl, New Bloomfield, Roy Zumbehl, Auxvasse, David Zumbehl,  Jefferson City, and Donnie Zumbehl, Martinsburg; two daughters, Joan Brengle, O'Fallon, and Sharon Bishop, Middletown; one brother, Leighton Zumbehl, St. Charles; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

One granddaughter preceded him in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Charles. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Schlanker Funeral Home, Montgomery City. Visitation will also be from 11-1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Wellsville, Mo., c/o Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Rd., Montgomery City, MO 63361.

PATTON

Jess Patric Patton, 76, Roach, died Jan. 21, 2003, at his home.

He was born April 20, 1926, near Stover, a son of Charles B. and Anna Barbara Knox Patton. He was married March 28, 1947, to Bernice Maxine Burns.

He lived in Climax Springs and owned and operated a saw mill for several years, cut wood, and did carpentry work. He was a member of Living Word Pentecostal Church of God. He was a member of VFW in Climax Springs and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include: six sons, Roger Patric Patton, Climax Springs, Darrell Dean Patton, Osage Beach, Jeff Edward Patton, Camdenton, Mark Carter Patton, Edwards, Delbert Dwayne Patton, Roach, and Anthony Wade Patton, Blue Springs; three daughters, Barbara Ann Fields, Edwards, Paula Lea Johnson, Camdenton, and Jessie Maxine Armstrong, Newburg; two brothers, Charles Patton, Linn Creek, and Warner Patton, Ontario, Canada; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

One son, Marty Allen Patton, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Living Word Pentecostal Church of God. The Rev. Floyd Dake will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in Climax Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Allee Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.

BAUGHMAN

Alpha Baughman, 94, California, died Jan. 22, 2003, at Moniteau Care Center.

She was born Sept. 14, 1908, a daughter of Boone and Susan Hunt Martin. She was married March 28, 1925, to Charles Loyd Baughman, who died in 1994.

She worked as a telephone operator in Clarksburg, for Cargill, Inc., in California and retired from the State of Missouri, where she worked in the clerical field. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Survivors include one grandson, Charles Baughman, Mountain View, Calif.

Two sons, Martin Baughman and Roger Baughman, preceded her in death.

No services are planned. Burial will be at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California.

WELCH

Percy Carlyle Welch, 82, Fortuna, died Jan. 23, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Cedar, Iowa, a son of Frank G. and Edna Belle Black Welch. He was married Aug. 7, 1941, in Cedar, to Dortha Elizabeth Duncan, who died March 20, 1996.

He graduated from high school in Cedar. He taught high school for several years in Iowa prior to moving to the state of California where he worked as an insurance inspector. In 1979 he moved to Fortuna. He attended the Methodist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Larry Welch, Fortuna; one brother, Loyal Curtis Welch, Knoxville, Iowa; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. David G. Howlett will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Tipton.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

CARSON

Robert Lee Carson, 58, Dixon, died Jan. 25, 2003, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, of bone cancer.

He was born Jan. 27 1944, in Denver, a son of Lester and Edna Schubert Carson. He was married Aug. 10, 1963, in Elizabeth City, N.C., to Barbara Ann Vickery, who survives at the home.

He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as an auto mechanic, service technician and manager and later as a taxi driver with Bell Cab Company, St. Robert.

Other survivors include: one son, Jeffery Carson, Dixon; three daughters, Sandy Clubb and Darla Minor, both of Dixon, and Susan Dorrough, Old Monroe; four brothers, Bill Carson, state of Illinois, Ron Carson, Union, Jim Carson, Anniston, Ala., and Kenny Carson, Dixon; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. The Rev. Dennis Nichols will officiate. Burial will be at the Carson Farm, near Dixon.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday.

HUHMAN

Rosa C. Huhman, 91,  Jefferson City, died Jan. 24, 2003, at St. Joseph's Home For the Aged.

She was born June 13, 1911, in Cole County, a daughter of Christian F. and Anna Schnieders Raithel. She was married in June 1934, to Leo Thessen, who died in October 1935. She was married Sept. 27, 1941, in St. Louis, to Herbert A. Huhman, who died Feb. 21, 1992.

A lifelong resident of Central Missouri, she attended school in rural Cole County. A homemaker, she was employed as a beautician at the Raithel Beauty Shop, with the Singer Sewing Machine Company and as a sales clerk at the Purple Shop. She was a member of St. Joseph's Cathedral.

Survivors include: one son, Herbert J. Huhman,  Jefferson City; two daughters, Nina M. Stratman, Vienna, and Patricia A. Taggart,  Jefferson City; three sisters, Florence Ortmeyer, Irma Raithel and Gladys Strope, all of  Jefferson City; four brothers, Herbert Raithel,  Jefferson City, Cornelius Raithel, Versailles, and Elbert Raithel and Alvin Raithel, both of  Jefferson City; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Cathedral. The Rev. Fred Elskamp will officiate. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Mortuary, with a prayer service at 7:15 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.
