BISHOP
Dale Eugene Bishop, 78, St. Francis, Kan., formerly of New Bloomfield, died Jan. 30, 2003, at his home.
He was born April 13, 1924, in Dodge City, Kan., a son of Clarence R. and Bertha Mae Zimbelman Bishop. He was married in 1950, in New Bloomfield, to Bonnie Lou Gray, who survives at the home.
He worked for A P Green Brick Plant in Mexico and worked on a cattle ranch in Colorado. He worked for the Colorado State Highway Department, retiring in 1988. He was an Army veteran.
Other survivors include: three sons, Leroy Bishop, Lawrence Bishop and Len Bishop, all of St. Francis, Kan.; one daughter, Linda Cox, Sterling, Colo.; one brother, Douglas Bishop, Bozeman, Mont.; two sisters, Wanda Churchwell, Denver, and Bonnie Schuman, Cocoa, Fla.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Two grandsons preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in New Prospect Cemetery, New Bloomfield.
Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.
KOENIGSFELD
Laverne Regina Koenigsfeld, 64, Jefferson City, died Jan. 30, 2003, in Jefferson City.
She was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Miller County, a daughter of Steve W. and Mathilda Louise Leven Kempker.
She attended schools in Miller County. She worked with Shopsmith in Jefferson City and was a homemaker.
Survivors include: two sons, David Koenigsfeld, High Point, and Doug Koenigsfeld, Jefferson City; one daughter, Lisa Turner, Jefferson City; two brothers, Herman Kempker and Larry Kempker, both of Jefferson City; four sisters, Ermine Dusheke, Dolores Kelsey, Betty Kliethermes, and Barb Hammond, all of Jefferson City; and five grandchildren.
One son, Dennis Koenigsfeld, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, Mary's Home. The Rev. Clarence Wiederholt will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Mary's Home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
LINK
Roy Smith Link, 93, Guthrie, died Jan. 31, 2003, at the Villa Marie Nursing Center, Jefferson City.
He was born Sept. 24, 1909, in Wainwright, a son of Joseph Rawleigh and Emma Jane (Dickson) Link. He was married Oct. 17, 1943, in Eldon, to Helen Lucille Hahn, who survives at the home.
He was a cattle farmer. He was active in 4-H and the National Hereford Association. He was a member of the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
Other survivors include: one son, Dr. Robert Link, Columbia; one daughter, Carla Sue Grant, Macon; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church in New Bloomfield. The Rev. Brad Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in the Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the Debo Funeral Chapel, Fulton.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church Building Fund.
BERRY
Virginia Ruth Berry, 93, Fulton, died Feb. 1, 2003, at the Fulton Manor Care Center.
She was born may 25, 1909, in Hatton, a daughter of Spotswood H. "Speck" and Maude E. Bates Huddleston. She was married March 15, 1936, in Eldon to William V. "Bill" Berry, who died Dec. 15, 1980.
She was a nurse's aid at the Fulton State Hospital.
She was a member of the Court Street United Methodist Church, Fulton, the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and served as chairman of Easter Seals Charity.
Survivors include: one son, William S.H. Berry, St. Louis; three daughters, Ruth Long, Waynesville, Trudy Dysart, Fulton, and Glendia Walker, Columbia; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
BROWN
Frances J. "Fran" Brown, 80, Columbia, formerly of Tipton, died Jan. 30, 2003, at Columbia Manor.
She was born Oct. 31, 1922, in St. Louis, a daughter of Jack and Edna Weisie Foster. She was married Nov. 22, 1941, to James Brown, who died Dec. 15, 1991.
She was a seamstress at Dala's Bridal Boutique, Tipton.
She attended St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Tipton.
Survivors include: one son, James E. Brown, Simi Valley, Calif.; one daughter, Jeanette C. Brown, Portland, Ore.; one brother, Charles Foster, Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Doris Grimm, Battle Creek, Mich.; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. The Rev. David Veit will officiate. Burial will be in the Hickman Cemetery, near Clarksburg.
Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Monday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the Guillain-Barre Syndrome Foundation or St. Andrew's Church Mass Book Fund.
FRITCHEY
Gladys L. Fritchey, 82, Dixon, died Jan. 31, 2003, in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis.
She was born Oct. 1, 1920, in Argyle, a daughter of William A. and Lula C. Dearduff Thompson. She was married Dec. 21, 1939, in Iberia, to Edward Fritchey, who died Jan. 31, 1997.
She worked for the Brown Shoe Company until she retired in 1978. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Dixon.
Survivors include: two sons, Ralph Fritchey, St. Louis, and Burton Fritchey, Dixon; one daughter, Louise Nelson, Dixon; two brothers, Kemsey Thompson, Arlington, Texas , and James Thompson, Dixon; two sisters, Dessie Helton, Potosi, and Agnes Wieder, Vienna; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Two daughters, Jessie Gilbert and Bessie Mings, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon. The Rev. Phillip Tanner will officiate. Burial will be in the Seaton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today and from 9-10 a.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Association.
LEE
Shirley "Shirl" Lee, 66, Belton, died Jan. 31, 2003, at her home.
She was born Oct. 18, 1936, in Jefferson City, a daughter of John and Mary Harlan Thornberry. She was married in 1955, in Jefferson City, to Everett Lee, who survives at the home.
She was a graduate of Jefferson City High School. She was a member of South Haven Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: four sons; Rick Lee, Belton, Rocky Lee, Peculiar, Randy Lee, Grandview, and Rance Lee, Kansas City; two daughters, Cheryl Bestvater, Belton, and Dayna Masters, Peculiar; one sister, Mary Jane Armour, Jefferson City; and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore. Burial will be in Peculiar Cemetery
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to KU Midwest Cancer Institute.
McFARLAND
Fay M. McFarland, 86, Versailles, died Jan. 31, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 9, 1916, in Pine, a daughter of Ira J. and Barbara Price Cullison. She was married to Charles Pierce, who died in 1946. She was later married to Alfred L. McFarland, who died in 1986.
She was a licensed practical nurse, retiring from the Valley Hope Treatment Center in Cushing, Oklahoma. She had lived in Cushing before moving to Versailles to be near her family. She was a Catholic, and enjoyed traveling and antiquing, and had an extensive collection of antique coal lamps.
Survivors include: One daughter, Barbara Henderson of Versailles; two sons, Ronald Pierce of Independence, Iowa, and Jerry McFarland of Pleasant Dale, Neb.; one sister, Iva Farley of Cushing; nine grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles Cemetery, with Rev. C.D. Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home.
