KEMP

Clyde Wallace "Wally" Kemp, 64, Holts Summit, died Feb. 5, 2003, at his home.

He was born Jan. 27, 1939, in Fulton, a son of Francis E. and Ruby Myrtle Frey Kemp. He was married Feb. 11, 1977, in  Jefferson City, to Ruth Ann Spurgeon, who survives at the home.

He was a security aide for Fulton State Hospital, retiring in 1993.

Survivors include: one daughter, Kimberly Kemp, of the home; four brothers, Joe Kemp, Fulton, James C. Kemp, New Bloomfield, David Kemp, Bland, and Richard Wayne Kemp, Montgomery City; six sisters, Velma Durham, Teresa Jett, Renee Harrison and Stephanie Mahnken, all of Fulton, Tammy Ernst, Evans, Ga., and Wilma Wall, Holts Summit.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit. The Rev. Mike Crowson will officiate. Burial will be in Summit Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

MERTZ

Mary A. Strate Mertz, 62, Houston, Texas , died Feb. 4, 2003, in Houston.

She was born May 7, 1940, in Freedom, a daughter of Herbert H. and Lorene L. Niewald Strate. She was married to Richard E. Mertz, who survives.

She graduated from the University of Houston and was a lifetime member of Phi Kappa Phi and the University of Houston Alumni Association.

She supported the Houston Grand Opera and the Houston Symphony. She was a church, civic and political volunteer.

Other survivors include: two sons, Trevor I. Mertz, Austin, Texas , and Jason G. Mertz, Clearlake, Texas ; and one brother, Russell L. Strate,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Lutheran Church, Katy, Texas . The Rev. Melvin Newman will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Houston.

SHARP

Ernest S. "Ernie" Sharp, 73, Laurie, died Feb. 3, 2003, at his home.

Arrangements are at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.

PETCHELL

Theodore C. "Ted" Petchell, 50, Lake Ozark, died Feb. 5, 2003, in Lake Ozark.

He was born Aug. 28, 1952, in Eldon, a son of Theodore C. and Patricia Popkess Petchell.

He attended Northern Missouri State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in physical education. He coached high school basketball for one year in Dixon, for three years in Eldon and for two years at Hermitage. He was in real estate sales and operated several businesses on the Strip at Bagnell Dam. He was a member of Christ's Church, Kaiser.

Survivors include: one daughter, Meagan Ketterlin, Telluride, Colo.; two brothers, Michael R. Petchell, Eldon, and Robert O. Link, Coppell, Texas ; two sisters, M. Patricia Crockett, Eldon, and Jane Mahoney, Chicago.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christ's Church. The Rev. Gary Maher will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Eldon.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to Christ's Church, P.O. Box 66, Kaiser, Mo. 65047.

REINECKE

George Reinecke, 57, Kingsville, died Feb. 5, 2003, in Osage Beach.

He was born May 5, 1945, in Chicago, a son of Gilbert Sr., and Marie Fritsch Reinecke.

He was a furniture refinisher and a past member of the Walk on The Water Church, Osage Beach.

Survivors include: two sons, Randy J. Reinecke, Kingsville, and Todd P. Reinecke, Lake Ozark; one brother, Gilbert Reinecke, Newton, Kan.; one sister, Janalee Hagen, Phoenix; and three grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Walk on the Water Church. Pastor Larry Ollison will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

RYBOLT

Marvin L. Rybolt, 69, Hartsburg, died Feb. 6, 2003, at his home.

He was born Jan. 25, 1934, in Hartsburg, a son of Fredrick and Lillie Sapp Rybolt. He was married Oct. 9, 1954, in the state of New York, to Lois Jeanne Shaffer, who survives.

He had farmed and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia. He moved to St. Louis, where he lived for 21 years. He was president of Berkley Khourey League for three years and received the George Khourey award for outstanding service. He coached and managed soccer and baseball teams in Khourey League. He was politically active in St. Louis and ran for county commission in Boone County. He moved to Hartsburg, where he owned and operated Valley View Orchard. He was president of Farmers Market and served for 17 years on the board of directors of Columbia Farmers Market Association. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0424, Hartsburg, and was an Army veteran.

Other survivors include: one son, Scott Rybolt, Hartsburg; one daughter, Jeanne Carol Fox, Golden Eagle, Ill.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Kevin Kemper will officiate.

Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to Bonds Chapel Cemetery or Hospice, in care of Lois Rybolt, 3604 Christian School Rd., Hartsburg, Mo. 65039.

SCHNIEDERS

Raymond E. Schnieders, 79, Edwards, died Feb. 5, 2003, at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.

He was born Feb. 15, 1923, in  Jefferson City, a son of Otto A. and Josephine Bertha Vanloo Schnieders. He was married Nov. 14, 1996, to Joyce Ann Estes, who survives at the home.

He attended the Dawson County school. He had lived in the Norborn area and moved to Carrollton in 1943. He worked on river barges and many other jobs in the area and was a self-employed carpenter for many years. In 1986, he moved to the Edwards area.

He was member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. He was a volunteer fireman and helped build the FF-65 Fire Station near Edwards.

Other survivors include: one stepdaughter, Sharon Dugan,  Oklahoma City; one brother, Albert Joe Schnieders, Bogard; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Beeler, Bosworth, Helen Marie Sandy, Missouri City, and Grace V. Bachtel, Edwards.

Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the FF-65 Fire Station.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.

SMITH

Stella R. Smith, 96, Macks Creek, died Feb. 6, 2003, at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.

She was born Dec. 20, 1906, in Henderson, Neb., a daughter of Abraham and Anna Petker Buller. She was married to Daniel H. Smith, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

One son, Lloyd Smith, and two daughters, Verona Turner and Grace Radcliff, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 8 p.m. Saturday at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek. Burial will be Tuesday in Greenwood Cemetery, York, Neb.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday.
