STAHL
Grover Clyde Stahl, 85, Clarksburg, died Feb. 5, 2003, at California Care Center.
He was born June 20, 1917, in California, a son of William C. and Cordelia Woods Stahl. He was married Nov. 22, 1939, in Otterville, to Opal Eugenia Homan, who survives at the home.
He lived most of his life in the Tipton area and was a charter member of Tipton Community Baptist Church, where he served as deacon since 1951. He was also a Sunday school superintendent and a teacher. He was a member of Gideons and the Moniteau County Farm Bureau.
Other survivors include: one son, William Stahl, Clarksburg; two daughters, Ellen Hopkins, Otterville, and Mary Pace, Clarksburg; two brothers, George Stahl, Mexico, and Norman Stahl, Marshall; one sister, Melva Gehlken, Sedalia; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Two great-granddaughters preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Tipton Community Baptist Church. The Rev. Randall DeVille will officiate. Burial will be in Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton.
Memorials are suggested to Tipton Community Baptist Church or Gideons.
THOMPSON
Jerry Lee Thompson, 62, Gravois Mills, died Feb. 3, 2003, at his home.
He was born May 27, 1940, in San Diego, a son of R.J. and LaVerne Kitterman Thompson. His mother survives in Riverside, Calif.
He worked for the Kansas City Fire Department in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was also a plumber and a roofer.
Other survivors include: three children, Jessie Andrews, Oceanside, Calif., Robert Thompson, Kansas City, and Richard Harden, Raytown; one brother, Neal Thompson, Layton, Utah; and one sister, Judy Updegraff, Moreno Valley, Calif.
The remains were cremated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
BROWN
Minnie E. Brown, 86, Columbia, died Feb. 2, 2003, in Clarkston, Wash.
She was born Aug. 11, 1916, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Melvin C. and Nancy Ida Kehr Boltz. She was married in 1933 to Richard O. Dickerson. She was married Feb. 25, 1948, to Richard B. Brown, who died in 1989.
She lived in Jefferson City and Columbia for most of her life, also living in California and Kansas City for several years. She worked in a garment factory for several years and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Methodist church. She was involved in civic affairs and was active on political committees. She served as president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 202 and was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 280.
Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy Ann Dickerson McGlothlen, Clarkston; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia. The Rev. Michael Keith will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday.
CREDILLE
Lynn D. Credille, 78, Jefferson City, died Feb. 6, 2003, at Capitol Region Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 20, 1924, in Lancaster, Texas , a son of Albert R. and Lucy Jane Dulworth Credille. He was married to Willa Dean Anders, who died Nov. 19, 1999.
He was a longtime resident of Bolivar and was of the Baptist faith. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: three sons, John Credille, Bolivar, David Credille, Cedar Hill, Texas , and Brian Credille, Jefferson City; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Pitts Chapel, Bolivar. The Rev. Bill Tatum and G. H. Surrette will officiate.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Jefferson City.
Memorials are suggested to the Lynn and Dean Credille Scholarship Fund at Southwest Baptist University.
EDWARDS
Mary Edith Edwards, 97, Fulton, died Feb. 6, 2003, at Fulton Manor Care Center.
She was born Nov. 5, 1905, in Mexico, a daughter of David C. and Ada Westrope Hollopeter. She was married Aug. 21, 1926, to Luke R. Edwards, who died July 7, 1974.
She was an organist. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Fulton, and the Amoma Sunday school class.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Elmwood Cemetery, Mexico. Bruce Williamson will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.
SHELTON
Matilda Mary "Sis" Shelton, 85, Jefferson City, died Feb. 7, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Feb. 5, 1918, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Frank Joseph Rackers and Henrietta Bemboom Rackers. She was married Dec. 15, 1934, in Jefferson City, to Harold Clarence Shelton, who died Sept. 3, 1974.
She worked for 22 years with International Shoe Company and with the Missouri Department of Revenue for 19 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, St. Ann's Sodality, Immaculata Club, St. Marys Health Center Auxiliary and the Legion of Mary.
Survivors include: one son, Harold C. Shelton Jr., Mt. Vernon, Texas ; one sister, Dorothy Rackers, Jefferson City; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy Fennewald, and one grandson.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas L. Alber and Rev. Mr. Robert J. Rackers will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Dulle Trimble Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1206 E. McCarty St., Jefferson City, Mo., 65101; or masses.
COOSE
Dee Gordon Coose, 82, Creve Coeur, formerly of Jefferson City, died Feb. 8, 2003, at Surrey Place Retirement Home, Chesterfield.
She was born Sept. 1, 1920, in Callaway County, a daughter of Samuel Jefferson and Erna Marie Bugbee Gordon. She was married to Clyde (Ty) L. Coose, who died on Nov. 9, 1988.
She was a 1938 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She worked as an administrative assistant for Sverdrup Corp., St. Louis, from 1967 until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of PEO and several bridge clubs. She was a member of Bonhomme Presbyterian Church, and she belonged to the Bonhomme Senior Group and Ladies Circle.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Sydney Weber, Creve Coeur; one sister, Marie Landrum, Jefferson City; and one grandson.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City Chapel. The Rev. Wendell Stoneburner will officiate. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2-3 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
FERNANDEZ
David Lee Fernandez, 61, Fortuna, died Feb. 7, 2003, at his home.
He was born July 31, 1941, in St. Louis, a son of Angelo and Mabel McKenzie Fernandez. His mother survives in Mexico. He was married Oct. 26, 1987, in Eloy, Ariz., to Mary L. Cook, who survives at the home.
He worked as an electrician in the state of California and in Arizona.
Other survivors include: two sons, Angelo Fernandez, La Puente, Calif., and David Fernandez II, Chino, Calif.; three stepsons, John Hurley, Versailles, Bill Hurley, Fontana, Calif., and Robert Hurley, the state of Alabama; two brothers, Joseph Fernandez, Dellwood, and Ned Fernandez, Wellsville; one sister, Nona E. Salas, Florissant; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Eileen.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. Fr. David Veit will officiate. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
