BAX
Loretta Bax, 88, Vienna, died July 18, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born
Oct. 25, 1910, in Brinktown, a daughter of Joseph and Nora Helton Brandel. She was married
July 11, 1933, in St. Louis, to Adolph Bax, who died April 1, 1985.
She was a member of Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna, and the ladies sodality and quilting club of the church. She was a practical nurse and a doctor's assistant for 20 years.
Survivors include: one daughter, Vivian Sagehorn, Ballwin; two sisters, Rose Puetz, Union, and Regina Woody, St. Charles; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
One son, Bob Bax, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Visitation Catholic Church. The Rev. John Schmitz will officiate. Burial will be in Visitation Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
Memorials are suggested to Visitation Church and School Memorial Fund, Vienna.
BOROUGHF
Benjamin Boroughf, 25, Brentwood, died July 17, 1999, at St. Mary's Health Center, Richmond Heights.
He was born
Sept. 23, 1973, in St. Louis, a son of Holmes and Carolyn Jennings Boroughf, who survive in Brentwood.
After being hit by a car in 1983, he spent 15 years as a quadriplegic on a ventilator. He was 20 when he obtained his diploma from Brentwood High School with the help of a special school district home teacher.
Other survivors include: one sister, Heather Boroughf, Brentwood; and maternal grandmother, Martha Jennings, Dixon.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Kenner Cemetery, Dixon. The Rev. Paul Smith will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to Kenner Church of God Building Fund and Kenner Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, Dixon.
Arrangements are under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
GAMPHER
Larry O. Gampher, 58, Eldon, died July 19, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born
Sept. 30, 1940, in Eldon, a son of Loyd and Bertha Colvin Gampher. His mother, Bertha Campbell, survives in Eldon.
He graduated from Eldon High School in 1958. A graduate of Moulder Barber College, Kansas City, he was a barber in Mexico and Columbia before opening his own barber shop in Jefferson City, retiring in 1994.
He had trained and showed horses and was active in rodeo for many years.
Other survivors include: one son, Cary Jay Gampher, Jefferson City; two sisters, Sandra Dillard, Grapeland, Texas, and Margaret Ann Wadley, Jefferson City; three brothers, Loyd "Dick" Gampher, Porter, Texas, Ermol Gampher, Kansas City, and Pat Gampher, Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Fred Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
HOSKINS
Ethel Hoskins, 85, Jefferson City, died July 18, 1999.
She was born
Jan. 3, 1914, in Henley, a daughter of Roy and Lucy Robinett Long. She was married
May 20, 1933, in Henley, to Estel H. Hoskins, who died July 4, 1985.
She was a lifelong resident of Central Missouri and attended school in Henley. She was a homemaker and a member of Hickory Hill Baptist Church and Country Neighbors Club of Henley. She wrote articles for the Eldon Advertiser and the Miller County newspapers.
Survivors include: two sons, Gail E. Hoskins, Holts Summit, and Dr. Leon L. Hoskins, Columbia; one daughter, Trellis O. Call, Jefferson City; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hickory Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Shane Crum will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Garden Cemetery, near Eugene.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Freeman Mortuary and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at Hickory Hill Baptist Church.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders Association.
DALEDOVICH
Mildred Susan Daledovich, 74, Jefferson City, died July 19, 1999, at Capital Healthcare Center.
She was born
May 14, 1925, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Clem W. and Leona Katherine Derkum Bruemmer.
She was a graduate of St. Peter High School and a former member of the parish.
Survivors include: one son, Anthony Daledovich, Lewisville, Texas; one daughter, Barbara Daledovich, Columbia; one sister, Frances A. Mueller, Jefferson City; one brother, Clemens A. Bruemmer, Rolla; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. R. William Peckman will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.
Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic School.
HESS
Hadley Gene Hess, 69, Hartsburg, died July 20, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born
July 13, 1930, in Hartsburg, a son of Hadley and Nana Green Hess. His mother survives in Hartsburg.
A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a graduate of Jefferson City High School and Jefferson City Junior College. He was employed at Tweedies Footwear Corp., American Optical Co. and Missouri Power and Light Co. until his retirement.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, VFW Post 1003 and American Legion Post 5.
Other survivors include: one son, Kevin Gene Hess, Jefferson City; one daughter, Tara Lynn Quisenberry, Columbia; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Dennis Maxwell will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church.
HOPPE
Ralph William Hoppe, 70, Barnett, died July 19, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born
March 16, 1929, near Fontana, Kan., a son of Frank A. and Myrtle Collins Hoppe. He was married
Oct. 23, 1953, to Pauline Walker, who died in November 1995. He was married
in December 1996 to Pauline Rayl Spaid, who survives at the home.
He was a retired correctional officer at United States Prison, Denver, Colo. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Other survivors include: one son, Eric William Hoppe, Richland, Wash.; two daughters, Jill Hannah, state of Hawaii, and Joy Lagerberg, Wheat Ridge, Colo.; one sister, Doris Davis, Osawatomie, Kan.; five grandchildren and three step grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. Burial, with military honors, will be in Versailles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
MASHBURN
Archie L. "Lee" Mashburn, 74, Iberia, died July 20, 1999, at Miller County Nursing Home, Tuscumbia.
He was born
Aug. 12, 1924, in Pulaski County, a son of Frank and Ruby Harrison Mashburn. He was married
April 7, 1950, in Waynesville, to Wanda Long, who survives at the home.
He was a member of Concord Christian Church, near Crocker.
Other survivors include: two sons, Ernie Mashburn, Iberia, and Roy Dale Mashburn, Richland; two daughters, Joyce Plemmons and Elizabeth Lathrop, both of Iberia; one sister, Eula Lawrence, Crocker; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Lee Todd will officiate. Burial will be in Madden Cemetery, near Iberia.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
SIMCOE
Mildred May Simcoe, 83, Calwood, died July 19, 1999, at Callaway Community Hospital.
She was born
Feb. 12, 1916, in Callaway County, a daughter of Roy L. and Myrtle Bruner Harris. She was married
Aug. 9, 1941, in Fulton, to "Doc" Simcoe, who survives at the home.
She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: three sons, Donald Simcoe and Wayne Simcoe, both of Calwood, and Sidney Simcoe, Fulton; one daughter, Becky Jamena, Columbia; two sisters, Caroline Davis and Fay Bell, both of Fulton; two brothers, Wallace Harris and Gene Harris, both of Fulton; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Lewis Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Lung Association.
SMITH
Elbert Leo Smith, 83, Ashland, died July 20, 1999, in Ashland.
He was born
Dec. 31, 1915, in Wilton, a son of Elbert T. and Lorna E. Nichols Smith. He was married
Oct. 18, 1948, in Salem, Ark., to Frances Keeling, who survives at the home.
He was a truck driver for Orscheln Supply and a member of Trucking Teamsters Union Local 833. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He attended the Baptist church.
Other survivors include: two sons, William Ravenscraft, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Danny J. Smith, Ashland; one daughter, Retha Basinger, Ashland; one brother, Joseph Smith, Ashland; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Jim Smith will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
