SPRICK

Dana Flippin Sprick, 30, California, formerly of Jamestown, died Feb. 14, 2003, at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

She was born Sept. 25, 1972, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Larry Flippin and Gracie Cassil Flippin. Her father survives in Jamestown and her mother survives in California. She was married Sept. 6, 1997, in Jamestown, to Mike Sprick, who survives at the home.

She was a legal secretary at Ann M. Perry's law office for one and a half years, and had 11 years of legal experience. She was a member of Jamestown Assembly of God where she was a Youth Sponsor, Sunday school teacher and Missionette Leader. She was a committee member for CPI; served on the Architectural Survey Study and co-chairman of the Missouri Community Assessment Program; and coached a girl's softball team for the California Summer Recreation Program.

She was a 1990 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, majoring in office administration.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Kylee Michelle Sprick; two brothers, Craig Flippin, Jamestown, and Greg Flippin, Columbia; one sister, Deanna Nilges, California; and a maternal grandmother, Catherine Cassil, Jamestown.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Jamestown High School Gym. The Rev. Steve Foley, the Rev. Van Mitchell and Brother John Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the Jamestown High School Gym.

Memorials are suggested to the Trust Fund for Kylee Sprick, care of Central Bank in California.

VANDIVER

Theodore "Ted" Vandiver, 82, St. Charles, died Feb. 13, 2003, at St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles.

He was born Sept. 30, 1920, in Alice, Texas , a son of Charles and Stella Belle Vandiver. He was married June 6, 1990, in the state of Florida, to Nancy L. Waer Vandiver, who died Oct. 30, 1993.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

He worked as a supply officer for the federal government, St. Louis.

Survivors include: one son, Mason L. Vandiver,  Jefferson City; one step-son, Lee Waer,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Terry Boggs, St. Charles; one sister, Jean Moore, Odem, Texas ; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Theodore L. Vandiver, and one daughter, Wanda Vandiver.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Baue Funeral Home, St. Charles. Inurnment will be in  Jefferson Barracks Cemetery, St. Louis.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

ZIEGELBEIN / ZIEGELBEIN

Vernon and Aleen Rose Ziegelbein, 76 and 71, Concordia, died Feb. 14, 2003, in Johnson County.

He was born April 5, 1926, in rural Concordia, a son of Alvin and Amanda Steffens Ziegelbein.

She was born Sept. 21, 1931, in rural Concordia, a daughter of Walter E. and Lillie C. Graf Evert.

They were married May 21, 1950.

He worked for General Motors, Kansas City.

She worked for Unitog Manufacturing Company.

They were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Concordia, where he served on the finance board and ushered and she served with the Braille Workers.

He was a member of United Auto Workers Union Local 93.

Survivors include: one son, Keith A. Ziegelbein, Lohman; two daughters, Connie Meyer, Springfield, and Brenda Frerking, Concordia; and eight grandchildren.

He is survived by one brother, Wilmer Ziegelbein.

She is survived by: three brothers, Ray Evert, North Kansas City, Jim Evert, Concordia, and Urbandale, Iowa; and one sister, Betty Wright, Odessa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Pastor R. Lee Hagan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Concordia.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. and from 6-7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Paul's Lutheran High School or St. Paul's Lutheran Grade School.

Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, Concordia.

BUEHRLE

Louise Ann Cottrell Buehrle, 63,  Jefferson City, died Feb. 15, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born March 19, 1939, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Sion E. and Hilda Louise Annie Goetz Cottrell. Her stepmother, Ruth Cottrell, survives in  Jefferson City. She was married June 2, 1957, in  Jefferson City, to William Buehrle, who survives at the home.

She was a 1957 graduate of  Jefferson City High School. She attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. and George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., receiving a bachelor's degree in education in 1977. She received a master's degree in education administration in 1981. She was an elementary school teacher for 20 years in the Fairfax County Virginia school system. She was a member of the Northern Virginia Writing Project, instructing teachers to teach writing to children. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa Sorority.

Other survivors include: two half sisters, Barbara Kirsch,  Jefferson City, and Mary Brandt, Linn.

One daughter, Karen Louise Buehrle, died Feb. 15, 1971.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jerome Brownlee will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

Memorials are suggested to the Lou Buehrle Memorial Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church.

CHARLSON

Lyle Marion Charlson, 85, Eldon, died Feb. 16, 2003, in Eldon.

He was born Sept. 7, 1917, in Story City, Iowa, a son of Oscar and Maggie Burke Charlson. He was married Oct. 4, 1947, in Nashua, Iowa, to Ruth Millang Charlson, who survives at the home.

He operated a body shop in Story City. He moved to Webster City, Iowa, and opened a glass shop. He worked for a body shop in Lake City, Minn., before moving to Eldon, where he farmed until he retired. He was a member of Eldon United Methodist Church. He was a member of Eldon VFW Post 2442 and the 11th Airborne Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Cheryl Joy Wood, Versailles; two brothers, Earl Charlson, Webster City, Iowa, and Herbert "Mike" Charlson, St. Ansgaar, Iowa; two sisters, Sylvia Doolittle, Story City, Iowa, and Ethel Lenning, Minnetonka Beach, Minn.; and two grandsons.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eldon United Methodist Church. The Rev. Fred Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to Eldon United Methodist Church or Lake Ozark Area Home Health & Hospice.

TWIST

Services were Sunday for Billie W. "Bill" Twist, 75, Macks Creek, who died Feb. 13, 2003, at Lake Regional Health Systems, Osage Beach.

He was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Audubon County, Iowa, a son of William and Mabel Kopaska Twist. He was married Aug. 31, 1948, in Audubon, Iowa, to Mary Ann Madsen, who survives at the home.

He owned and operated a dairy farm in Iowa for 25 years. In 1973, he moved to Sunrise Beach, where he owned and operated the Shangri-La Resort for 25 years. He retired five years ago to Macks Creek. He was active in New Covenant Church, near Macks Creek.

Other survivors include: one son, Craig Twist, Boston, Mass.; and two grandsons.

Services were at New Covenant Church.

Memorials are suggested to Mrs. B. W. Twist, 3683 Doc. Ridgeway Drive, Macks Creek, Mo. 65786.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.

ACKMAN

Mary Elizabeth Ackman, 94, Ashland, died Feb. 17, 2003, at Ashland Healthcare.

She was born Sept. 2, 1908, in Hartsburg, a daughter of A. D. and Annie Jones White . She was married Feb. 7, 1929, in Columbia, to Herman Ackman, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Hartsburg, where she was in the Lady's Circle. She was a member of Planned Progress in Hartsburg.

Survivors include: one daughter, Marlene Selby, Ashland; one brother, Clifton White , Lexington; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Peace United Church of Christ. The Rev. Bryan Crousore will officiate. Burial will be in Frieden's Cemetery, Hartsburg.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland.

Memorials are suggested to Frieden's Cemetery, in care of Peace United Church of Christ.
