MARTIN
Ruby L. Martin, 79, Jefferson City, died Feb. 17, 2003.
Arrangements are at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit.
WATERMAN
Grace Owen Waterman, 94, Fulton, died Feb. 19, 2003, at Fulton Nursing and Rehab.
She was born Dec. 18, 1908, in Fulton, a daughter of William L. and Mary Alma Smart Owen.
She graduated from Fulton High School and Synodical College. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri in 1929. She taught Spanish in high schools in Missouri, Iowa and New Mexico. She taught at Ellsworth College, Iowa Falls, Iowa. She contributed to the Christian Service Center in St. Louis, a ghetto mission, for 10 years. She attended Mt. Carmel Methodist Church.
Survivors include: three nephews, Francis McVeigh, William C. "Bill" Owen, and Richard Owen, all of Fulton.
One son, Logan T. "Buddy" Waterman, died in 1977.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. Bruce Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1- 2 p.m. Saturday.
Memorials are suggested to Christian Service Center.
STEVENS
Lena Inez Stevens, 94, Versailles, died Feb. 20, 2003, at Good Shepherd Care Center.
She was born April 7, 1908, in Camden County, a daughter of John and Lucinda Crane. She was married Aug. 8, 1928, to George Calvin "Cal" Stevens, who died Jan. 4, 1999.
She taught in public schools for more than 30 years, mostly at the junior high level. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Versailles, where she was church secretary for 10 years and taught Sunday school. She served as president of the local PJA's and the 4-H Club.
Survivors include: one son, J.C. Stevens, Versailles; two sisters, Icel Kidwell, Columbia, and Lela Ayres, Bolivar; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Diane Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
WEBB
Lottie Webb, 86, Ivy Bend, died Feb. 19, 2003, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.
She was born April 19, 1916, in Duffer Hollow, now Ivy Bend, a daughter of William E. and Rose Ann Davenport Duffer. She was married Sept. 8, 1931, in Versailles, to Erbert Wray Webb, who died Aug. 25, 1975.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: three sons, Erbert Edward "Sonny" Webb and Wray Eugene Webb, both of Stover, and Jimmy Webb, Versailles; one daughter, Della Cline, Sedalia; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Dinzel Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Kipp Memorial Cemetery, Stover.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Ivy Bend Baptist Church.
KERNS
Services were Saturday for Ferdie C. Kerns, 81, Camdenton, who died Feb. 19, 2003, at Lake Regional Health Systems, Osage Beach.
He was born Aug. 5, 1921, in Scott City, Kan., a son of Solomon and Della Mae Green Kerns. He was married June 25, 1952, in Clayton, N.M., to Ada Mackley, who survives at the home.
He was a house painter.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Patty Wiley, Hutchinson, Kan., Loretta Beecham, Valley Falls, Kan., and Loretta Mae Kerns, state of North Dakota; four sons, Ferdi D. Kerns, Donald C. Kerns, Acie L. Kerns and Christopher O. Kerns, all of Camdenton; one brother, Donald O. Kerns, Camdenton; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Teresa Kerns, and one son, Orville Kerns, preceded him in death.
Services were at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bob Aubuchon officiated.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
RICE
Bruce Douglas Rice, 63, Jefferson City, died Feb. 21, 2003, at his home.
He was born Oct. 27, 1939, in Jefferson City, a son of Lester Henry and Dollie Lee Milburn Rice. He was married June 20, 1962, in Jefferson City to Phyllis Kramer, who survives at the home.
He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and graduated from Lincoln University with a master's degree in business management.
He retired from the Missouri State Division of Employment Security in 1991 and also had worked for the Missouri State Personnel Department.
He was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Angela L. Rice and Cynthia L. Branch, both of Jefferson City; three sisters, Juanita Belcas, Pace, Fla., Alice Beers, Columbus, Ga., and Jacqueline Payne, Bellevue, Neb.; one brother, Lester Henry Rice, Jr. of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors -- Jefferson City Chapel. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
WOLKEN
Margaret Caroline Wolken, 88, Osage Bend, died Feb. 21, 2003, at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.
She was born March 12, 1914, in Taos, a daughter of John J. and Margaret (Maggie) Louise Forck. She was married Oct. 3, 1939, in Taos to Anton "Tony" Herman Wolken, who died Aug. 28, 2002.
She attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, Taos. She was a member of the St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Osage Bend, and the Ladies' Organization of St. Margaret's Catholic Church.
She was a homemaker and had been employed at the Tweedie Show Factory.
Survivors include: two sons, Robert L. Wolken and Harold Joseph Wolken, both of Jefferson City; three daughters, Janet Mary Koetting and Marilyn Margaret Daledovich, both of Jefferson City, and Linda Katherine Limbach, Eugene; 29 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Herman Wolken Dec. 18, 1977, and a grandchild.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church. The Rev. Dan Lueckenotte, the Rev. Lou Dorn and Deacon Bob Smerek will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Margaret's Parish Cemetery, Osage Bend.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Buescher Memorial Home and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church.
Prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Buescher Memorial Home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Margaret's Parish Cemetery Fund, St. Joseph's Home for the Aged, or to Community Hospice of America.
HUNTER
Alice Rodeman Hunter, 86, Birmingham, Ala., died Feb. 20, 2003, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Birmingham.
She was born June 19, 1916, in Jefferson City, a daughter of John H. and Clara Oncken Rodeman. She was married in 1943, in Jefferson City, to James Ottway Hunter, who died in 1978.
She attended St. Peter Catholic School.
She was a homemaker, a hospital volunteer in Birmingham and a pianist for several nursing homes.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Birmingham.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marilyn Hunter Wisely, Birmingham; two sons, Greg J. Hunter, Dallas, Texas , and Robert J. Hunter, Atlanta; and five grandchildren.
Services were today at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Resurrection Cemetery, Jefferson City.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, 2 Xavier Circle, Birmingham, Ala., 35213.
