SORENSEN
Jerry Dean Sorensen, 55, Lead Mine, died Feb. 24, 2003, at his home.
He was born Jan. 23, 1948, in Orchard, Neb., a son of LeRoy and Dulcie "Jean" Faith Sorensen. His mother survives in Edwards. He was married Sept. 23, 1978, in Vermillion, S.D., to Shirley Ann Larson, who survives.
He was raised near Sioux City, Iowa, and graduated from Central High School. He attended Western Iowa Tech, earning a degree as an electrician. He moved to the Lead Mine area and lived there for the past 20 years. He worked at Electrovert-Speedline Technologies in Camdenton for seven years. He attended Tunas Christian Church.
Other survivors include: one son, Chad Wiig, Blythsdale; two daughters, Melissa Grover and Brandi Casteel, both of Tunas; two brothers, Dennis Sorensen, Kansas City, and Randy Sorensen, Edwards; two sisters, Wanda Messerlie, Dakota City, Neb., and Judy Bates, South Sioux City, Neb.; and 14 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek. Burial will be in the A B Cemetery, Celt.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
KRAXBERGER
Helen M. Kraxberger, 74, Stover, died Feb. 26, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Wichita, Kan., a daughter of Jess and Susan Lunnam. She was married Jan. 25, 1959, to Eddie Kraxberger, who died March 15, 1992.
She and her husband owned and operated Kraxberger Insurance Agency in Stover for many years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Stover.
Survivors include: one daughter, Janet McQuaig, Stover; one sister, Esther McNeil, Eugene, Ore.; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
One son, Roger Ford, died March 24, 1999.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Kiehl will officiate. Burial will be in Stover Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Capital Region Medical Center PCU Unit.
Arrangements are under the direction of Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover.
DAVIDSON
Helen Pearl Davidson, 85, Fulton, died Feb. 25, 2003, at Callaway Community Hospital, Fulton.
She was born Feb. 3, 1918, in Toledo, Mo., a daughter of Russell G. and Nina Lee Williams Williamson. She was married April 6, 1940, in Mexico, to Wilbur Davidson, who died Oct. 1, 1991.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Methodist Church, Readsville. She was a member of Readsville Community Club.
Survivors include: one son, James "Jim" Davidson, Fulton; three daughters, Marjorie Payne, New Bloomfield, Bonnie Felkner, Fulton, and Marilyn Baker, Springfield; one sister, Catherine Moore, San Jose, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Larry Paris will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

McVEIGH
Minnie Louise McVeigh, 93, Fulton, died Feb. 26, 2003, at Callaway Community Hospital, Fulton.
She was born Feb. 17, 1910, in Fulton, a daughter of Herman and Marie Kester Kaoell. She was married Oct. 9, 1938, in Fulton, to Odie Clinton McVeigh, who died Feb. 7, 1984.
She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, James W. McVeigh, Fulton, John L. McVeigh, Maryland Heights, and Stephen H. McVeigh, Houston, Texas ; two daughters, Mary Lou Phillips and Martha Sue McVeigh, both of Fulton; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Baptist Church. The Rev. Walter Lockhart and Bruce Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.
Memorials are suggested to Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Good Samaritan Fund, c/o Presbyterian Manor.
MENDEL
Shirley L. Foster Mendel, 85, Seattle, died Feb. 23, 2003, in Seattle.
She was born Oct. 20, 1917, in Ashland, a daugter of Otho and Dovey Brown Foster. She was married to Leo Mendel.
A graduate of Ashland High School, she received a bachelor's degree from Millikin University in 1974. She lived in Decatur, Ill., from 1946-1980 and managed a travel agency with her husband. After moving to the Northwest, she retired from the travel industry in 1988.
She was a member of the American Society of Travel Agents; Association of University Women; Seattle Tenants Union and University Unitarian Church.
Survivors include: two sons, David Mendel and Phillip Mendel, Los Angeles; two daughters, Janet Mendel, Spain, and Elaine Mendel-John, New Orleans; one brother, Derwood Foster, Oregon; and three grandchildren.
A family memorial will be at a later date. Burial will be private.

BRAECKEVELDT
Frances Braeckeveldt, 81, Eldon, died Feb. 27, 2003, at her home.
Arrangements are at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.
HAMPY
Ruth Joan Hampy, 89, Sedalia, died Feb. 26, 2003, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born Sept. 20, 1913, in Smithton, a daughter of William and Maude Boucher Cook. She was married Oct. 19, 1938, in Smithton, to Melvin Hampy, who died Jan. 13, 1986.
She lived in Pettis County most of her life.
She was a homemaker and a member of Smithton United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and United Methodist Women.
Survivors include: two sons, William Hampy, Sedalia, and Kenneth Hampy, Hughesville; two daughters, Helen Mahnken, Smithton, and Shirley Oelrichs, Jefferson City; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, Sedalia. The Rev. Gary Smith and Pastor Ray Varnado will officiate. Burial will be in Smithton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday.
