BURNS

Deborah Diane Burns, 51, Dixon, died Feb. 24, 2003, at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood.

She was born March 21, 1951, in Dixon, a daughter of Wayne and Dorothy Shelton Burns. Her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Jack Wood, survive in Springfield.

A 1969 graduate of Dixon R-1 High School, she worked at Brown Shoe Company, Dixon. She was a self-employed housekeeper. She attended First Church of God, Dixon.

Other survivors include: one son, Rex Pennybaker, Dixon; two daughters, Apple Barnhart, Springfield, and Pepper Pemberton, Richland; one brother, Brent Barnhart, Jackson, Miss.; two sisters, Sherrie Montaruli, Nixa, and Robin Fox, Ozark; and maternal grandmother Roberta Shelton, Dixon.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. The Rev. Wilbur Warman will officiate. The remains will be cremated. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Dixon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the Deborah Burns Memorial Fund, c/o Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, Mo. 65459.

COTHRAN

Barbara A. Cothran, 89, Iberia, died March 2, 2003, at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.

She was born July 29, 1913, in Iberia, a daughter of Ernest E. and Cora Mace Benage. She was married Oct. 17, 1936, in Carlinsville, Ill., to Dudley Cothran, who died Jan. 31, 1987.

She was a graduate of Iberia Academy and Washington University's School of Nursing at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. She retired from Swift and Company in St. Louis before returning to Iberia.

Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Onstott, Iberia, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. William Knudson will officiate. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Washington University School of Nursing.

CROWE

Rosalie Elaine Crowe, 66, Wentzville, died March 2, 2003, at her home.

She was born Dec. 13, 1936, in East St. Louis, Ill., a daughter of Willard L. and Irene Edith Butler Deppe. She was married to William Crowe, who preceded her in death.

She was a cashier for Dollar General when she retired.

Survivors include: two sons, Michael Crowe,  Jefferson City, and David Crowe, Wright City; two daughters, Mary Thompson, Elsberry, and Lisa Martin, Troy; two sisters, Bonnie Kaffer, Belleville, Ill., and Gloria Seibel, Columbia, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

One son, Stanley Crowe, and one grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. The Rev. Robert Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

ELLISON

Eugene Monroe Ellison, 83, Clarksburg, died March 3, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born April 9, 1919, in Bunceton, a son of William and Frances Lee "Fanny" Callihan Ellison. He was married Nov. 18, 1939, in Boonville, to Alberta Dick, who died in March 1999.

He attended school in Bunceton. He was a self employed convenience store operator, an electrician and retired from Cooper County as a heavy equipment operator. He was a Methodist and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include: one son, Frank Ellison, Clarksburg; two daughters, Hazel Fethke, Versailles, and Laura Pugh, Nixa; one brother, Leonard Ellison, state of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

One infant son preceded him in death. Another son, Dennis Ray Ellison, died in 1975. One daughter, Bonnie Crider, died in 1995.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery, Tipton.

Memorials are suggested to St. Andrew's Cemetery, c/o Norman Koerkenmeier, 73313 Koerkenmeier Rd., Tipton, Mo. 65081.

Arrangements are under the direction of Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California.

GENTRY

John Edgar Gentry, 75, Camdenton, died March 1, 2003, at Windsor Estates Center, Camdenton.

He was born July 13, 1927, in Kansas City, a son of Daniel B. and Mabel Mary Mabie Gentry. He was married to Verda Jean Gentry, who surives in Kansas City. He was married Nov. 20, 1976, in Climax Springs, to Sondra Gould Busick, who survives at the home.

He earned an electrical engineering degree from Electrical Technical School in 1947. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 124 in Kansas City for 58 years.

He owned and operated a machine shop in Kansas City before moving to the Lake area in 1963. He founded Spartan Steel Products in Climax Springs and built the first steel and Styrofoam boat docks at the Lake, retiring in 1976.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and of Heartland Worship Center in Camdenton. He was a firefighter with the Mid-County Fire Protection District. He was named Fireman of the Year in the late 1980s. He invented and constructed a portable helicopter landing light system and donated it to the department.

Other survivors include: two sons, David Harley Gentry, state of Arizona, and Ronald Lee Gentry, Camdenton; one stepdaughter, Marilyn Kay Gentry, Macks Creek; four stepsons, David W. Busick and Jerry Daniel Busick, both of Warsaw, Chris Delyle Busick, Climax Springs, and Larry Dean Busick, Columbia; one brother, Robert N. Gentry, Grain Valley; two sisters, Doris Fay Orlando, Federal Way, Wash., and Norma Jean Barrett, Everett, Wash.; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Ovington will officiate. Burial will be in Climax Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

HAGAN

Services were Feb. 26 for Raycel Shirley Hagan, 91, Mercer, who died Feb. 22, 2003, in Trenton.

He was born Dec. 17, 1911, in Mercer County, a son of Ross N. and Ethel Pearl "Shirley" Hagan. He was married Dec. 10, 1938, to Ruby Lorene Brown, who survives at the home.

He was a farmer and raised registered Hereford cattle. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and the Bethel Cemetery board of directors. He was a member of the American Hereford Association, past president of Northwest Missouri Hereford Association and was a past member of the Mercer County fair board.

Other survivors include: seven sons, Elvin Hale Hagan, Milan, Denny Zale Hagan and Garen Gale Hagan, both of Mercer, Lyman Dale Hagan, Phoenix, Ariz., Merlin Raycel Hagan, Savannah, Leroy Lance Hagan, St. Joseph, and Lathe Allen Hagan, Osceola, Iowa; four daughters, Myrna Rae Booth, Cainsville, Argel Vee Miller, Wagoner, Okla., Garnet Glee Gilmore, Mena, Ark., and Marilyn Maycel Livesay, Ridgeway; two brothers, Albert Hagan, Columbia, and Raymond Hagan,  Jefferson City; one sister, Reva Cornett, Columbia; 27 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

One son, Marlin Grayson Hagan, and one daughter, Marcel Faye Brady, preceded him in death.

Services were at Bethel United Methodist Church. The Rev. Max Carmichael and the Rev. Jennie Vertrees officiated.

Arrangements were under the direction of Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service, Princeton, Mo.

HAWKEY

Quenton J. Hawkey, 94, Lake Ozark, died March 1, 2003, in Osage Beach.

He was born March 30, 1908, near Farina, Ill., a son of Henry and Sophia Bauman Hawkey. He was married June 3, 1931, to Edith F. Reichert, who survives.

He retired from Sunshine Dairy, Decatur, Ill., in 1973, after 44 years. He was a member of Macon United Methodist Church, Macon, Ill., for 53 years. He moved to Altamont, Ill., in 1996 and to Lake Ozark in 2002.

Other survivors include: two sons, Lynn J. Hawkey and Loyd G. Hawkey, both of Linn Creek; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Camdenton United Methodist Church.

Family and friends will meet in Fellowship Hall after the service.

Memorials are suggested to Camdenton United Methodist Church or the Altamont Lutheran Care Center, Altamont, Ill.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.
