McCRORY
Furrell O. McCrory, 89, Iberia, died March 4, 2003, at Richland Care Center, Richland.
He was born June 28, 1913, in Miller County, a son of Franklin and Hester Harper McCrory. He was married April 7, 1936, in Jefferson City, to Lela Arnel, who died June 30, 2000.
Survivors include: two sons, Mike McCrory, Merrillville, Ind., and James McCrory, state of Arizona; two daughters, Barbara Endeman, Springfield, and Roberta Marriott, Eldon; two sisters, Lucille Lawrence and Belle Driskell, both of Richland; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
One son, Furrell McCrory Jr., and one daughter, Lela Irene McCrory, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. Merrell Jefferies will officiate. Burial will be in Sharp Cemetery, near Richland.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today.
McDOWELL
Donald C. "Don" McDowell, 69, Crocker, died March 5, 2003, in Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla.
He was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Brumley, a son of John L. and Ruby R. Rowden McDowell. He was married Aug. 30, 1952, in Richland, to Ruby M. Burkhart, who survives at the home.
He worked as a landscaper for Lodge of the Four Seasons for 22 years, retiring in 1998.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dennis E. McDowell, Barnett, and John A. McDowell, Osage Beach; one daughter, Donna M. Behl, Crocker; three brothers, Robert W. McDowell and Virgil McDowell, both of Iberia, and James Dale "J.D." McDowell, Basehor, Kan.; two sisters, Eula Mae Long and Dorothy C. Lothrop, both of Crocker; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Long Funeral Home, Crocker. Burial will be in Hawkeye Cemetery, Crocker.
Visitation will be from 1-1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Memorials are suggested to the Hawkeye Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
BUTCHER
Donald Lewis Butcher, 69, Fulton, died March 6, 2003, at West Village Manor, Columbia.
He was born Dec. 26, 1933, in New Bloomfield, a son of Milford L. and Opal Bennett Butcher. His father survives in Lakeland, Fla. He was married May 27, 1952, in Garland, Texas , to JoAnn Neff, who survives at the home.
He worked at Fulton State Hospital in the maintenance department. He was a farmer.
Other survivors include: one son, Jerry Allen Butcher, Fulton; two daughters, Debra Kay Holland and Pamela Ann Miller, both of Mokane; one brother, Darrell Butcher, Fulton; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
HANDY
Alexander Gene Handy, 55, Eldon, died March 7, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Nov. 15, 1947, in Linn Creek, a son of Ansel R. and Lydia Isabelle Leffert Handy. His mother, Isabelle Winebrenner, survives in Camdenton. He was married Dec. 28, 1974, in Mt. Pleasant, to Linda Kay Shackelford, who survives at the home.
He worked for Sayers Tool & Die Company, Camdenton, and at Osage Products and Carrousel International, both in Eldon. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Other survivors include: two sons, Darrin G. Handy and Alex R. Handy, both of Eldon; three brothers, Ray Handy, Oregon, Jewell Handy, Columbia, and Warren Handy, Camdenton; one sister, Queenie Wilkey, Camdenton; and two granddaughters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to the Gene Handy Memorial Fund.
HAUCK
Edwin Hauck, 79, Dixon, died March 9, 2003, at his home.
He was born Sept. 21, 1923, in Henryetta, Okla., a son of Frank and Bessie Hale Hauck. He was married Sept. 11, 1946, in Columbus, Kan., to Inez Hoffman, who survives at the home.
He worked for Civil Service at Fort Leonard Wood beginning in 1953. He retired in 1976 in Quartermaster Clothing Issue. He was a member of Hephzibah Holiness Church, Dixon, and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include: two sons, Tony Hauck and Randall Hauck, both of Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter, Judith Hershberger, Wentzville; two brothers, Fred Max Hauck and Egland Hauck, both of Dixon; one sister, Frances Geise McLaughlin, Louisville, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. The Rev. Archie A. Atwell and the Rev. Jeff Ropp will officiate. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to Hephzibah Holiness Camp, Dixon.
HANNINEN
Services were today for Lauri "Sam" Hanninen, 87, Camdenton, who died March 7, 2003, at his home.
He was born Sept. 6, 1915, in New Ipswich, N.H., a son of Otto and Josephine Seppala Hanninen. He was married June 10, 1939, to Burnice Mayne, who died Feb. 20, 1998.
He was raised in Gardner, Mass., and lived in the state of California for 40 years. He worked for Fluid Pack Pump Company, retiring in 1981. He moved to Camdenton in 1995.
Survivors include: one daughter, Donna Moore, of the home; one sister, Irene Osborne, Austin, Texas ; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
One son, Butch Hanninen, preceded him in death.
Services were at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Aubuchon officiated. Burial was in Allee Memorial Gardens.
HOPEN
Anthony Emil "Tony" Hopen, 85, Jefferson City, died March 6, 2003, at Bethesda Meadows, Ellisville.
He was born Sept. 25, 1917, in Jefferson City, a son of Herman J. and Agnes Elizabeth Boeckmann Hopen. He was married in 1943, in the state of California, to Lucille Loethen. He was married Oct. 20, 1951, in Boone County, Ark., to Bonnie Jean Dickson Smith, who died Sept. 19, 1986.
He was a 1938 graduate of St. Peter High School. He worked as a salesman with Simpson Tobacco Company for 10 years and for Dr. Pepper & 7-Up Bottling Company for 25 years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 5, and was a 50-year Golden Eagle member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: one sister, Louise F. Norwood, Ellisville.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Masses.
OLTMANN
Services were today for Terry W. Oltmann, 62, Camdenton, who died March 7, 2003, at his home.
He was born March 16, 1940, in Butler County, Iowa, a son of Tom and Erma Bochman Oltmann. He was married June 19, 1964, in Allison, Iowa, to Diane Hart, who survives at the home.
He graduated from the University of Iowa and worked at First National Bank as vice-president of cashiers and executive officer. He served on various committees in the Bankers Association and was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Camdenton. He had lived in Lebanon.
Other survivors include: one son, Matt Oltmann, Eldon; two brothers, Wendell Oltmann, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Keith Oltmann, Temple, Texas .
Services were at Camdenton United Methodist Church. Burial was in Dale Blaire Cemetery, Camdenton.
Memorials are suggested to Kiwanis Club Scholarship Fund, Camdenton, or the Dogwood Animal Shelter, Camdenton.
