BARNARD

Marie Clark Barnard, 89, of  Jefferson City, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at Capitol Region Medical Center.

She was born on June 2, 1913 in Welcome, Mo., the daughter of Forest and Pearl Nolte Clark. She was married on May 17, 1932 in Tuscumbia, MO to Lloyd Wilton Barnard who died on August 29, 1997.

A homemaker, she was a member of First Baptist Church,  Jefferson City.

Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Marilyn Barnard, New Bloomfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Jane & Milton Burford, Bakersfield, CA; four grandchildren, Stephen Barnard, North Bend, WA; Clayton Barnard, San Antonio, TX; Kristi Bennett, Chico, CA; and Kelly Lapum, Brentwood, CA; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Forest K. Clark,  Jefferson City; and a sister, Zona Helwig,  Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lafe Clark and Carl Clark; and a sister, June Keeney.

Graveside services were 10 a.m. Monday at Riverview Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas W. Nelson officiating.

Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, 3210 N. Ten Mile Drive,  Jefferson City.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, 301 E. Capitol Ave.,  Jefferson City, MO 65101.

CHAPEL

Martha Mae Gross Chapel, 91, Santiquin, Utah and formerly of California, MO, died Thursday, May 1, 2003 in Santiquin, where she was living with her son.

She was born July 24, 1911 in Clarksburg, MO to Mose M. and Dora Farris Gross, who preceded her in death. She was married November 14, 1934 to Ronald Healy Chapel, who preceded her in death in 1966.

She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Clarksburg. She had worked at the California Hotel in California for several years and the Masonic Rest Home in Wichita, KS. Martha loved her family and visiting friends, she had an extended family both in California, MO and Utah. She enjoyed traveling and always wanted to be on the go. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include: her son, Ronald Merle Chapel with his wife, Dena of Santiquin, Utah; two sisters, Lucy Moseley of California, MO and Nannie Schlup of Irvine, CA, one great-grandson, Skylar Chapel and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Farris Gross and Dalton Mose Gross.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, May 8, 2003 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Clarksburg. The Rev. Earl Hoskins, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 P.M., Wednesday evening at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, MO.

Memorials may be made to the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, c/o Paul Cary, 32936 Moreau Bluff Road, California, MO 65018 or the Mt. Moriah Cemetery Association, c/o Larry Ashley, 803 Proctor Drive, California, MO 65018.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, MO.

DOANE

Laura Ruth Doane, 76, Brownsville, TX, formerly of Gravois Mills, died April 30 at Valley Hospital in Brownsville.

She is survived by her husband, George "Bert" Doane of the home; son Randy Doane of Green Ridge; brother and sisters, Talley Myers, Mary Wood and Lorene Rollins, all of Illinois; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

FLOWERS

Paul Delbert Flowers, 79, of Mokane, MO, died Sunday, May 4, 2003 at Capital Region Medical Center,  Jefferson City.

He was born April 6, 1924. He is survived by his wife: Helen Biswell of Macon; 1 son: Roger Flowers of Mokane; 2 grandchildren, Vicki Powell & Craig Flowers; five great grandchildren, 2 brothers; he was preceded in death by 1 son: Ronald Flowers.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, May 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Debo Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton, with Rev. Gary Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Callaway Memorial Gardens.

Memorials are suggested to Dialysis Clinic Inc., 1916 Boggs Creek Road,  Jefferson City.

JONES

Betty L. Jones, 76, of Camdenton, MO, died Monday, May 5, 2003 at Lake Regional Health Systems, Osage Beach.

She is survived by one son: Oscar Jones & wife Fran of Camdenton, MO; two daughters: Patricia Pittman and husband John of Linn Creek, MO and Mary Cyrus and husband Mac of Eldon, MO; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 1 sister: Lucy Hodges of Stoutland.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, at 10 a.m. at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Burns, Rev. Jim Millstead, and Rev. Clifton Hodges officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Decaturville.

JONES

George W. Jones, 75, Camdenton, Mo., died Sunday, May 4, 2003 at his home.

Survivors include: one son, Oscar Jones & wife Fran of Camdenton, MO; two daughters, Patricia Pittman and husband John of Linn Creek, Mo. and Mary Cyrus & husband Mac of Eldon, Mo.; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

MOORE

Judy Elizabeth "Beth" Moore, 50, of  Jefferson City, died Friday, May 2, 2003 at her residence.

She was born July 11, 1952 in Lawton, OK, a daughter of Judson "Bud" Simmons and Ruby Darlene Smith.

She attended Lubbock High School in Lubbock, TX. She currently was employed with Missouri Alliance for Children and Families as Office Coordinator. She previously worked John's Manville Inc. as a Cost Estimator in Kansas City. She was a member of the Missouri Blues Association. She loved nature, music and her true passion was to cook for everyone she loved. The most important thing in her life was her grandchildren.

She is survived by her father: Judson "Bud" Simmons of Alberque, NM; one daughter: Carrie Malone of Independence; one brother: Lonnie Simmons of Russellville; two grandchildren: Aiden and Jena of Independence; one nephew: Justin Simmons of Russellville and her favorite person in this world was her Aunt Jean Dawes of  Oklahoma City, OK. She was preceded in death by one niece Angela Simmons.

Friends will be received from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors -  Jefferson City Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors -  Jefferson City Chapel with Rev. Bob Kelly officiating.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Beth Moore Trust Fund to benefit her grandchildren c/o Rhonda Tevik, 724 Heisinger Road,  Jefferson City, MO 65109.

SCRIVNER

Donald Lee Scrivner, 72, of Winchester, Kansas, died Friday, May 2, 2003 at the  Jefferson County Geriatric Center in Winchester, KS. after a long illness.

He was born November 9, 1930 at Russellville, Missouri, the son of George Adolph and Vinti Mac Fahrni Scrivner. He had lived in Winchester for 37 years. Mr. Scrivner retired in 1984 after 20 years as a Correctional Officer at the Leavenworth Federal Prison in Leavenworth. He also worked as an officer at the Missouri Sate Prison in  Jefferson City, MO for seven years.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean war, serving from 1948 to 1952. He was a member of the Davis-Gibson American Legion Post #387 of Winchester. He was a member of the Easton United Methodist Church in Easton, KS and was a life Member of the Federal Prison Retirees Club in Leavenworth. He was a 1948 graduate of Russellville, MO High School and attended Criminology classes at the University of Kansas and at Lincoln University in  Jefferson City, MO.

He was married to Jeannine Marie Amos on January 31, 1953 at Russellville, MO., who survives at the home. Survivors include: four sons, Greg Scrivner, Winchester, KS., Neil Scrivner, Auburn, KS, Paul Scrivner, Ardmore, OK and Wayne Scrivner, Lawrence, KS., one brother, Leo Scrivner, New Bloomfield, MO., three sisters, Ruby Petree,  Jefferson City, MO., Cleo Taylor, Waldorf, MD., and Amy Jones, Russellville, MO, and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Scrivner and a sister, Guylda Decker.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 6 at the Easton, KS United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Bailey officiating.

A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the services at the church. Russellville services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville, MO., with Pastor Shane Crum officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the Services at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Enloe Cemetery, Russellville, MO.

Memorials may be made to the Easton, KS. United Methodist Church or to the  Jefferson County Memorial Hospital and Geriatric Center in care of the Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa, KS. 66066 or to the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, 5414 Simpson St., Russellville, MO 65074.

TALKEN

Leo J. Talken, 47, of Taos, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at his home.

Arrangements are with the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors - Taos Chapel, Route M at Helias Road; 636-3838.

BRANSON

Odelia F. Branson, age 71, of Linn, MO, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at the St. Marys Health Center,  Jefferson City, MO.

She was born September 22, 1931 at St. Elizabeth, MO, the daughter of Henry & Johanna (Luebert) Steinman, both deceased.

A lifelong area resident, she graduated from St. Elizabeth High School. She was a homemaker and had also been employed with Sylvester Backes Poultry, and she had worked at the Charles E. Still Hospital. Her lifelong passion was children, for whom she cared and provided for her entire life.

Survivors include: 4 daughters, Joyce Harrison of Newport News, VA, Fran Haslag of Loose Creek, MO, Judy Peters of Linn, MO, and Sheila Karpowecz of California, MO; 2 sons: Paul Branson of Argyle, MO, Gregg Branson of St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by one son: Gary Branson. She is also survived by 4 sisters: Regina Massman of St. Elizabeth, MO, Ann Schulte of Barnett, MO, Viola Wolfe of  Jefferson City, MO, Sylvia Steinman of St. Louis, MO; 2 brothers: Vincent Steinman of St. Louis, MO & Anthony Steinman of Rochester, MN; 18 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Morton Funeral Home, Linn, MO.

Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2003 at the St. George Church, Linn, MO with the Rev. Father Greg Meystrik officiating. Interment will follow at the St. George Cemetery, Linn, MO.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
