SCHOENFELD
Harriett Ann Schoenfeld, 89, Holts Summit, died July 31, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born
Jan. 17, 1910, in Holts Summit, a daughter of August F. and Sarah Ann Tillery Sundermeyer. She was married
Nov. 1, 1950, in Hardy, Ark., to William Hugh Schoenfeld, who died July 2, 1988.
She attended Halifax School, Holts Summit. A homemaker, she was employed by Tweedies Footwear Corp. for 29 years until her retirement.
Survivors include: one son, Samuel Hugh Schoenfeld, Holts Summit; two brothers, Harold Sundermeyer and August Sundermeyer, both of Holts Summit; four sisters, Ruby M. Nichols, Emma L. Smith and Agnes P. Kieselbach, all of Holts Summit, and Bessie L. Lutz, McGirk; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Buescher Memorial Home. John Culver and Leslie Olsen will officiate. Burial will be in Hart Hill Cemetery, Callaway County.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
BOCK
Regina C. Bock, 86, Rich Fountain, died July 31, 1999, at Green Meadows Health Care Center, Linn.
She was born
Sept. 4, 1912, in Osage County, a daughter of Herman and Regina Weibberg Luebbert. She was married
Nov. 8, 1933, in Rich Fountain, to Henry Bock, who died March 2, 1980.
A lifelong area resident, she was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Rich Fountain, and the Ladies Sodality.
She was a homemaker and worked as a cook at Sacred Heart School and St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.
Survivors include: three daughters, Elsie Grellner, Bonnots Mill, Evelyn Weider, Centertown, and Catherine Ruder, Alberta, Ala.; one brother, Lawrence Luebbert, Rich Fountain; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
One son, Henry Bock, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Patrick Quinn will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation also will be from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Church.
GIBBLE
The Rev. William T. Gibble, 84, Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Jefferson City, died July 30, 1999, in Jacksonville.
He was born
March 4, 1915, in Enid, Okla., a son of the Rev. and Mrs. J.N. Gibble. He was married
June 12, 1949, in Denver, to Wilma Jeane Meyers, who survives at the home.
He served as senior minister at First Christian Church for 11 years. In 1960 he moved to Austin, Texas, where he was senior minister at University Christian Church. He then moved to Springfield, where he served as senior minister at South Street Christian Church.
He was president of the Christian Church National Benevolent Association in St. Louis from 1971 until his retirement in 1982. In 1994, he received Diplomatic Award from National City Christian Church, Washington, D.C.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Linda Hammelman and Paula Gibble, both of St. Louis, and Denise Esselburn, Washington, D.C.; one sister, Neda Lee Oldefest, Littleton, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Riverside Avenue Christian Church, Jacksonville. Services also will be at a later date at National City Christian Church. Inurnment will be in the columbarium at National City Christian Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Christian Church National Benevolent Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of At Peace Cremation Service, Jacksonville.
GOSSETT
Alfie Marie Gossett, 82, Ashland, died July 31, 1999, at Ashland Healthcare.
She was born
Feb. 7, 1917, in Decatur County, Iowa, a daughter of Frank and Maggie Watkins Jackson. She was married
in July 1936 in Lewiston, Ill., to Clyde Bouchez, who survives in Hartsburg. She was married
to Lee Gossett, who preceded her in death.
She worked in the snack bar at Pershing Hall, Columbia.
Survivors include: three daughters, Marie Crump, Ashland, Dorothy Dobbs, Columbia, and Arlene Davis, Harrisburg; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Two daughters preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Jim Smith will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Ashland.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
KING
Laure D. "Lolette" King, 92, Jefferson City, died July 31, 1999, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born
Dec. 30, 1906, in Gabbes, Tunisia, a daughter of Albert and Julie Cohen Galula. She was married
March 8, 1947, in Farmington, to Edward R. King, who died June 2, 1980.
A Jefferson City resident since 1987, she was a member of Temple Beth El.
She co-owned and co-operated King's Package Store in Desloge from 1947 until her retirement in 1984.
She is survived by two sisters, Esther Varaud, Montreal, Canada, and Madeline Galula, Paris, France.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Freeman Mortuary. Rabbi Yossi Feintuch will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to Temple Beth El.
WILLIAMS
John McKibbin Williams, 48, Jefferson City, died July 30, 1999, at Carondelet Manor, Kansas City.
He was born
Nov. 14, 1950, in St. Louis, a son of J. Russell and June M. Williams. His parents survive in Atlanta.
A graduate of Jefferson City High School and Lincoln University, he was a certified public accountant. He worked at the Missouri State Auditor's Office for most of his career.
He was a member of the Jefferson City Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 513, where he served as trustee and PER.
He also is survived by one brother, James R. Williams, Atlanta.
Services will be at a later date. His remains were donated to the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kansas City Funeral Directors, Kansas City, Kan.
CARPENTER
Rachel Carpenter, 79, Jefferson City, died Aug. 3, 1999, at her residence.
She was born
March 31, 1920, in Ahoskie, N.C., a daughter of Moses and Mary Lasgiter Francis. She was married
April 29, 1952, in Elizabeth City, N.C., to Lloyd Allen Carpenter Sr., who died Oct. 12, 1981.
A former Vienna resident, she was a homemaker. She attended Vienna Assembly of God Church and was employed in hotel housekeeping.
Survivors include: two sons, Allen Carpenter Jr., Jefferson City, and Mark Carpenter, Vienna; one daughter, Rachel Carpenter, Jefferson City; and one brother, Otis Francis, Ahoskie, N.C.
One daughter, Bessie Alberta Carpenter, died in 1959.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Burial will be in Vienna Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to Vienna Public Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund and American Cancer Society.
PRATER
Ida Pearl Prater, 90, Sullivan, formerly of Meta, died Aug. 3, 1999, at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis.
She was born
Dec. 20, 1908, in Meta, a daughter of William and Eva Barnhart Champlain. She was married
Jan. 26, 1928, in Vienna, to Leonard Francis Prater, who died Dec. 26, 1988.
She was a member of Meta Christian Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Darwin Prater, Sullivan, and Robert Prater, Tulsa, Okla.; three brothers, Roe Champlain, Pond, Leonard Champlain, Meta, and Harold Champlain, Villa Ridge; one sister, Geneva Crane, Jefferson City; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Doris P. Stuckenschneider, died Dec. 19, 1984.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rekus Funeral Home, Meta. The Rev. Manuel Seaton will officiate. Burial will be in Stokes Cemetery, near Meta.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
