SLAYTON

John R. "Grizzly" Slayton, passed away on Sun., June 1, 2003.

Tragically taken from us; beloved husband of Rita P. Slayton (nee Summey) and the late Arlene P. Slayton (nee Strutman); dearest father of Vickie Slayton and Jonette (J.P.) McGuire; dear grandfather of Brandi; dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Mr. Slayton retired from Union Pacific Railroad, a member of IWJG, NAWCC, RMEF and Missouri Conservation. Mr. Slayton belonged to many charitable organizations and supported them for many years of which some of the following are  Jefferson City YMCA, Ozark Coast Kiwanis, Lake Regional Hospital, Christmas is for Kids helping hundreds of children over the years, Muscular Dystrophy Assn., the Dream Factory and Salvation Army.

Funeral at the KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. (at Butler Hill), Tuesday, June 10 at 10 a.m. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation Monday, 5-9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cardiac Care Rehabilitation Unit, Lake Regional Hospital Foundation, 54 Hospital Dr., Osage Beach, MO 65065 or the granddaughter's college education trust fund, c/o John R. Slayton Trust, Central Bank, KK Branch, P.O. Box 207, Osage Beach, Mo 65065, which would be appreciated.

STIEGMAN

Duane E. Stiegman, age 62, of Camdenton, Mo., passed away Wednesday morning, June 4, 2003 at Ozark Care Center in Osage Beach, Mo.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Stiegman, of the home; one daughter, Pamela Price, Lake Ozark, Mo.; one son, Eric Stiegman, Collins, Mo.; his mother, Edith Stiegman; two brothers; two sisters, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Sunrise Beach, Mo. Burial will be in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery in Laurie, Mo.

Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie, Mo.

GREENE

Mrs. Thomasina Talley Greene, age 89 years, of  Jefferson City, MO, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at the Villa Marie Nursing Center.

Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Greene under the direction of Freeman Mortuary will be announced at a later time.

DUNNAWAY

Virginia Dunnaway, age 92, of Laurie, Mo., passed away Friday, June 6, at the Laurie Care Center.

She is survived by one son, Gary Dunnaway of Laurie; two daughters, Marilyn Uptegrove, Leeton, and Marjorie Holst, Kansas City, KS; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

RYERSON

Earl Raymond Ryerson, 73, of Vienna, Mo., died on Thursday, June 5, 2003.

He was married on October 30, 1948, in Maries County, to Mildred Viola Maxine Reeves.

He was a member of Christian Life Assembly Church, Vienna and he was employed at ABB for many years, retiring in 1995.

He is survived by four daughters: Joyce Crider, Lois McCabe, Donna Byington and Paula Davis; two brothers; two sisters; thirteen grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2003, and from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2003, in the Christian Life Assembly Church.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2003, in the Christian Life Assembly Church with Pastor Don Kelley officiating.

DISTLER

Darlene D. Distler, 63, of  Jefferson City died Friday, June 6, 2003 at her home.

She was born September 10, 1939 in Belle, a daughter of Arley G. and Lois L. Pointer Quinn. She attended Belle High School. She was married November 14, 1959 in  Jefferson City to Walter "Butch" Distler, who survives at the home.

She worked for Ramada Inn in  Jefferson City from 1963 to 1973, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the North Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed garage sales and the ministry.

She is also survived by two daughters: Debra Ann Ash of California, Missouri; Cindy Sneed of Fulton; three sons: Jeffery Distler of McGirk; Gregory Distler of  Jefferson City; Rick Freeman of Centertown; her father, Arley G. Quinn of Ashland; two brothers: Jack Quinn of Hartsburg; Mike Quinn of Hartsburg; one sister, Billie Jean Garrett of Ashland; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her mother, Lois L. Quinn preceded her in death on January 3, 2000.

Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors  Jefferson City Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003 at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors  Jefferson City Chapel with Vic Sapp officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses or to Missouri River Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, 2613 W. Main, 636-3838.

KIRCHNER

Goldie Marie Kirchner, 87, of  Jefferson City died Friday, June 6, 2003 at  Jefferson City Manor.

She was born August 8, 1915 in Cedar City, a daughter of John Henry and Polly Ann Coots Fletcher. She was married November 4, 1935 in Columbia to Cortez Henry Kirchner, who preceded her in death on February 2, 1999.

She was a Southern Baptist, and was a full time mother and homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Ray V. Kirchner of Russellville; one daughter, Shirley Bernskoetter of Wardsville; one sister, Hazel Kirchner of  Jefferson City; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Harley Gene Kirchner in 1956.

Friends will be received from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors  Jefferson City Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003 at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors  Jefferson City Chapel with Rev. Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Concord Baptist Church or Trinity Lutheran School. Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, 2613 W. Main, 636-3838.

KLIETHERMES

Mrs. Bernadine Kliethermes, 86, of Loose Creek, MO, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at the Westphalia Retirement Center.

She was born March 20, 1917 in Linn, MO, the daughter of Lawrence and Lena (Niekamp) Mertens, both deceased. She was married April 26, 1944 in Linn, MO to Elmer J. Kliethermes, who preceded her in death April 20, 1985.

A lifelong resident of Osage County, MO, Mrs. Kliethermes was a homemaker. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek, MO and was a member of St. Ann's Sodality.

Survivors include: 4 sons: Larry Kliethermes of Westphalia, MO, Irvin Kliethermes of Corbin, KY, Wayne Kliethermes & James Kliethermes, both of Loose Creek, MO; 1 bother: Nelson Mertens of Linn, MO; and 1 sister: Marie Mertens of Linn, MO; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 brother, Andrew Mertens.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek, MO with the Rev. Father Greg Meystrik officiating. Interment will follow at the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Morton Funeral Home, Linn, MO. A prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donors choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Funeral Home, Linn, MO.
