MERKLIN

Zella O. Merklin, 97, of Eldon, died June 12, 2003, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.

She was born in Miller County on June 6, 1906, a daughter of Edmon Clinton and Pearl May (Armstrong) Davenport.

Survivors include: one daughter, Erma Jean Dale of Bellevue, Nebraska; one son, Kenneth Dale Matheis of Costa Mesa, California; three sisters, Clara Enloe, Iris Young, and Nadine Hachler all of Eldon; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Overton.

She attended school in Miller County and worked for Howard Hughes Aircraft Manufacturing in California until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of Eldon First Baptist Church, the Eldon Friendly Neighbors Club, and the Mt. Pleasant Quilting Club.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, June 16, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Bob Buster will officiate. Interment will be in Tol Wood Cemetery near Eldon.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Eldon First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.

THOMPSON

Ambrose Thompson, 76, of Mexico, formerly of Vienna, died June 12, in the Missouri Veteran's Home, Mexico.

He was born Dec. 26, 1926 a son of Lemuel and Mary Wendley Thompson who preceded him in death.

Survivors include 3 sisters: Frances Barton, Lula Reeves, and Susie Reeves. Other deceased family members include 2 brothers, Fred Thompson and Henry Thompson; and one sister, Dora Sinden.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 14, from 1-3 p.m. in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, in the funeral home with interment in Little Flock Cemetery, Vienna.

COFFMAN

Ernest "Ernie" E. Coffman, 75, Linn Creek, died June 12, 2003, in his home.

Survivors include: his wife, Jean Coffman, of the home; one son, Ernie T. Coffman, Linn Creek; one sister, Freda Bacon, Sullivan; and a half-brother, Jr. Bobbitt, Sullivan.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens in Barnett.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross Tornado Relief Fund and may be left at the funeral home.

BERNARD SCHROER

Sister Joseph Bernard Schroer, 92, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2003, at the Incarnate Word Retirement Community in San Antonio, Texas .

Sister Joseph Bernard was born Helen Margaret to John Bernard and Josephine Lackamp Schroer on February 15, 1911, in Centertown, Missouri.

She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in October 1941, professing first vows in 1944 and perpetual vows in 1949. Sister Joseph Bernard was best known for her selfless dedication to providing for the comfort of others. She was the epitome of a homemaker, ensuring her Sisters and guests were well fed and well cared for at all times. During her religious calling as a Sister, she worked in Orphanages and Retirement Homes in St. Louis, Missouri and San Antonio, Texas .

She is mourned be her sister, Mildred Utrecht and her brother, Joseph H. Schroer both of  Jefferson City, numerous nieces and nephews as well as her Sisters in Christ.

She was laid to rest on Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at the Convent Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas .

A Memorial Mass will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at the St. Joseph Home for the Aged, with Msgr. Charles H. Patterson officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Incarnate Word Retirement Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors Ð  Jefferson City Chapel, 2613 West Main Street; 636-3838.

HASELROTH

Genevieve L. Haselroth, 78, Hermann, MO, died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at Boone Hospital, Columbia, MO.

She was born November 6, 1924, Case, MO, the daughter of Edmund and Mamie Nolte (Nee Hodges), who preceded her in death.

She was married in 1947 to Leslie Haselroth, who survives her.

She is also survived by daughters; Melba and husband, Gerald Engemann, Hermann, MO, Debbie & husband, Jeff Stewart, House Springs, MO, daughter, Brenda & husband, Roger Kempker, Fulton, MO; sisters, Helen Mueth, Wentzville, MO, Mary Hoffner, Delanco, New Jersey; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Margaret Nolte and Elizabeth Wilding and two brothers, Edmund and John Nolte.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 16, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at St. George Church, Hermann, MO with Father Bill Debo officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, June 15, 2003, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, Missouri with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Case, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the St. George Church or Hermann Hospital.

STAHL

John William Stahl, 95, of Otterville, passed away June 13, 2003 at Rest Haven Convalescent Home, Sedalia.

He was born on June 27, 1907 near Syracuse, the son of Blum Emrett and Lera Edith Thomas Stahl. On March 8, 1930, he was married to Hylda Neimeyer in Bunceton, MO.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., June 18, 2003 at Syracuse Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Nicks & Rev. Gary Payne officiating.

Visitation will be at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton, on Tuesday, June 17, 2003 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Bunceton Masonic Cemetery.

THOMAS

Shirley Louis Thomas, 48, Hartsburg, MO, died Saturday, June 14, 2003 at her home in Hartsburg, MO.

She was born September 18, 1954 in Columbia, MO, the daughter of Harold Lloyd O'Neal and Maudie Genevieve Crane O'Neal. She was married June 18, 1977 in Hartsburg, MO to John William Thomas, who survives at the home.

She was a member of the Hartsburg Baptist Church, the Hartsburg Extension Club, The International Association of Administrative Professionals, a leader of the Hartsburg Clover Kids and Hartsburg Happy Friends 4-H Club. She worked in the medical field as an Executive Staff Assistant for the University Hospital & Clinics, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia, MO.

Other survivors include: one son, Jason William Thomas, Springfield, MO; one daughter, Jennifer Kay Thomas, Columbia, MO; her mother, Maudie Genevieve O'Neal, Hartsburg, MO; one sister, Elizabeth Ann Cross, Columbia, MO. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Lloyd O'Neal.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at the Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland, MO. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 P.M., Monday, June 16, 2003 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are to the Children's Education Trust Fund, First National Bank & Trust Co.

WHITWORTH

Delmer (Del) E. Whitworth, 85, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at his home in  Jefferson City, Missouri.

He was born February 5, 1918, in Briscoe, Missouri, the son of Thomas and Lillian Strothers Whitworth.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Hazelwood, Missouri for 33 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the AMVETS Post 113 in Farmington, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5896 in Farmington, the American Legion Post 129 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida and the National Association of Letter Carriers.

He is survived by one son: Ray Whitworth of Warrenton, Missouri; one daughter: Laura Conley of  Jefferson City, Missouri; seven brothers: Russell Whitworth of Glen Carbon, Illinois; James Whitworth of Rosebud, Missouri; Harry Whitworth of Manchester, New Jersey; Richard Whitworth of Bridgeton, Missouri; William Whitworth of Ferguson, Missouri; Sidney (Gale) Whitworth of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Howard Whitworth of Warrenton, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son: Roger Whitworth; an infant sister; one brother: Atholl Whitworth and one grandson. He will be missed by his son-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2003, at Grace Episcopal Church, 217 Adams St.,  Jefferson City, Missouri. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association. ACTON

Deloris Elverie Acton, age 75, of Fulton, died Friday, June 13, 2003 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

She was born July 12, 1927 in Campoint, IL to the late John Jackson and Ruby Alberta (Stidham) Knight. She married Clyde Stanley Acton on March 17, 1947 in Columbia, MO. He survives of the home.

Mrs. Acton was a homemaker and a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Fulton.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Debo Funeral Chapel, Fulton.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at the Nashville Baptist Church, Rt. N Nashville Church Road, Ashland with Rev. Aubrey Grindstaff, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Nashville Baptist Church cemetery.

FAULKNER

Harold C. Faulkner, 82, of Gravois Mills, passed away Monday, June 16, 2003, at his home.

Mr. Faulkner was retired from Chrysler Corporation. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Faulkner of the home; daughter: Carolyn Sue Carver; one step son: William Nitzsche; one step daughter: Carolyn Bronec; 5 grandsons and 4 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery in Laurie. Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

MUSTAIN

Phillip D. Mustain, 43, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Camdenton, MO died Saturday, in his home.

He is survived by his daughter Natalie Mustain, of Camdenton; his mother Rita Mustain, of Camdenton; five brothers, Lloyd B. Mustain, Jr. of Camdenton, John Robert Mustain of Peculiar, MO, Ronald Dean Mustain of Camdenton, MO, Martin Allen Mustain of Lee's Summit, MO, Kenneth Homer Mustain of Greenview, MO; three sisters, Oliva Lee Kennedy of Lebanon, MO, Tracy Kubicki of Gladstone, MO and Anna Marie Mustain of Camdenton.

Visitation service will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17 with a rosary service at 7 p.m. in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home Chapel.
