Joyce Pitts, 71, of Hancock, died at 1:58 A.M., Sunday, June 15, 2003, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield.
She was born November 23, 1931 at Kaufman, TX, a daughter of James and Lula Armstrong Wallis. She was married May 20, 1952, in Quinlan, TX, to Charles Leon Pitts.
Survivors include: her husband, two sons, Charles W. Pitts, Moberly, MO and Ralph Pitts, Lebanon, MO, three daughters, Charlotte Metzger, Colorado Springs, CO, Rebecca Scrivner, Rolla, MO and Laura Pitts, Hancock, MO; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, in Freedom Church of Christ, Montreal, MO.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., and 1:00-2:00 p.m., Wednesday, in the Freedom Church of Christ, Montreal, MO.
PREWETT
Virgil Richard Prewett, 95, of Dixon, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehab, Dixon.
He was born June 8, 1920 in Pulaski County, a son of Moses Boyd and Sophia Smith Prewett. He was married December 3, 1971 at Dixon to Juanita King.
He had been a farmer for all his working life.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 17 from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, June 18 from 12-1 p.m. in the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 in the funeral home with Bro. Harold Withers officiating. Interment will be in the Pisgah Cemetery, Dixon.
TRACY
Myrtle Maud Tracy, 89, Eldon, MO, died Saturday, June 14, 2003 in Eldon, MO.
She was born January 13, 1914 in Eldon, MO, the daughter of Charles Dwight Gouge & Clyda Silvey (Vernon) Gouge. She was married June 21, 1930 in Eldon, MO to Clarence A. Tracy, who preceded her in death in 1965.
She was a member of the Aurora Springs Baptist Church in Eldon, MO and worked at International Shoe Company and at Max Allen's Zoological Gardens and retired at age eighty-two from the Paint Pot.
Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Gary Carroll, Eldon, MO, Carrol & Dennis Beanland, Branson, MO; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Anita Graham, Pueblo, CO. She was preceded in death by one son, Donald A. Tracy, Sr., in 1986.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at the Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, MO with Rev. Bob Stevenson & Rev. Ernie Buscher, officiating. Interment will be in the Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett, MO.
Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials suggested to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
URTON
Beverly Ann Urton, 71, of Camdenton, MO died Monday, June 16, at her home.
She was a retired RN. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 18 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Camdenton, MO. Interment will be at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton, MO.
BUEHRLEN
Victoria Lynn Buehrlen, 36, of Barnett, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She is survived by one daughter, Shanna Buehrlen of St. Louis; two sons: Michael Buehrlen of Barnett, and Joseph Earl Buehrlen of Eldon; her mother: Jessica Vanderlinden of Meta; one grandchild expected soon, many other relatives and friends.
Her remains were cremated. Graveside services will be Friday, June 20, 2003, in Columbia, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
HAVERKORT
Alma Louise "Joy" Haverkort, 86, of San Francisco, California, died May 27, 2003 in San Francisco.
She was born on January 19, 1917 in Jefferson City, the daughter of Christian and Wilhelmina Veltrop Haverkort.
She attended St. Peter Catholic School and was employed for many years with the federal government in housing and home finance in San Francisco. She was happiest being active in social, business, and religious groups.
Survivors include a sister, Jean Germano, San Francisco, and numerous nieces and nephews in Jefferson City and San Francisco. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Burgi, Mary Frances Davis, and Martha Pratt.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2003, at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Deacon Robert J. Rackers will officiate.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on July 21st at St. Marys Cathedral, San Fancisco.
Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
HAWKEN
Carl Joseph Hawken, 88, of Tuscumbia, died June 16, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born in Tuscumbia on July 22, 1914, a son of William Carroll and Fannie Cinderella (Edwards) Hawken. On June 10, 1956, in Copper Center, Alaska, he was married to Margaret J. Holtmeyer, who preceded him in death on July 31, 1998.
Survivors include: two sons, Larry Hawken of Las Vegas, Nevada, and William Hawken of Tuscumbia; one stepdaughter, Judy deKanter of Eldon; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A son, John Henry Hawken, preceded him in death.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Christian faith.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Interment will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery.
LAWSON
Jim Lawson, 55, California, MO, died Sunday, June 15, 2003 at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, MO. He was an underwriter for 32 years for Shelter Insurance Company at the Columbia, MO office.
Survivors include, his wife Lana Barry Lawson at the home, two sons, Jason Lawson with his wife, Stephanie of Raytown, MO, and Bryan Lawson with his wife, Becky of Warrensburg and one daughter, Jennifer Lawson at the home in California; his father, Raymond Lawson of California, two brothers, Mike Lawson with his wife, Maggie of California, MO, and Steve Lawson with his wife, Liz of Bloomington, IL.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 4:00-8:00 P.M., at the First Baptist Church-Life Center, California.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in California. Officiating will be Rev. Ron Baker and burial will be in the California City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the California High School, Girls & Boys Golf Teams. Services are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, MO.
LIENEKE
Beulah E. Lieneke, 91, of Chamois, MO, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Green Meadows Skilled Care Facility, Linn, MO.
She was born August 29, 1911, in Otterville, MO, the daughter of George and Blanch (Evans) Burford, both deceased. She was married August 28, 1941, to Ernst A. Lieneke who preceded her in death March 2, 1987.
She attended school in Otterville, MO, and had been a longtime resident of the Chamois Community. She was employed as a switchboard operator with the telephone company in Chamois for many years. She was a member of the Womens Fellowship of the St. Johns United Church of Christ, Chamois, MO.
Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother: John C. Buford.
Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2003, at the St. Johns United Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2003, at the St. Johns United Church of Christ, Chamois, MO, with the Rev. Deborah Pope officiating.

Grace B. Viviano, 87, of Osage Beach, MO, died on June 17, 2003 at Osage Beach Healthcare, Osage Beach, MO.
She was a retired beautician.
