DAVES

Betty Daves (nee Walka), 57, Highgate, MO, died Sunday, June 27, 2003.

Survivors include: her husband, Herschel L. Daves; one sister, Sarah Hicks; two brothers, Lawrence Walka Jr. and Phillip Walka.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the SCHRADER Funeral Home, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery.

FISHER

Paul Richard Fisher, 69, of Henley, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born on June 8, 1934, in  Jefferson City, the son of Paul William Fisher and Vernettie Ellen Bryan Fisher. He was married on October 20, 1960, in  Jefferson City to Doris May "Dody" Bastean Elledge who died on May 19, 2002.

Mr. Fisher owned and operated Dody's Convenience Store in  Jefferson City for twenty years until retiring in 1984. He attended Spring Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons: Kenneth W. Fisher, Russellville, David Fisher, Henley, P.R. James Fisher and Leroy Joseph Fisher, both of  Jefferson City; four daughters: Marcia L. Matthews, Tuscumbia, Mary K. Rains, Henley and Paula L. Massman and Cindy S. Fisher, both of  Jefferson City; twenty-eight grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; five brothers: George Fisher and Ricky Fisher, both of Henley, Eugene Fisher,  Jefferson City, Tom Fisher, Wichita, Kansas and Raymond Fisher, Arkansas; and one sister: Bertha Goff, California, MO. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Doris "Sissy" Fry; two brothers: Korles Fisher and James Fisher; and one sister, Betty Spence.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with the Rev. Cyrus Crum officiating.

Burial will be in Hickory Hill Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601. Those wishing to email condolenses to the family may do so at www.dulletrimble.com.

GRAHAM

John L. Graham, 76, Eldon, MO, died Saturday, July 26, 2003 in Eldon, MO.

He was born November 15, 1926 in Arkansas, the son of William Henry Graham and Mary (Pope) Graham. He was married October 26, 1946 in Arkansas to Merl (Tolliver) Graham, who survives.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Ann LaDonn Morris, Key West, FL; one son, Jim L. Graham, Montgomery City, MO; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, MO. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Greenmore Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Barnett, MO. Burial will be at the Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett, MO.

KITCHENS

Mrs. Frances K. Kitchens, age 88 years, of  Jefferson City, MO, died Sunday, July 27, 2003 at the  Jefferson City Manor Nursing Center.

Mrs. Kitchens was born April 15, 1915 at  Jefferson City, MO, the daughter of George and Alpha Ousley Ernest. Her mother, Alpha Holliday preceded her in death in 1975. She was married on March 10, 1934 at  Jefferson City, MO to Fred Kitchens who preceded her in death on July 14, 1989.

A lifelong resident of the  Jefferson City area, Mrs. Kitchens graduated from  Jefferson City High School. Mr. and Mrs. Kitchens managed the food services at the  Jefferson City Country Club for many years. Later, they owned and operated Kitchens Catering Service for several years.

She was a member of the Salvation Army and The Women of the Moose. Survivors include: two sisters, Betty Knatcal of  Jefferson City, MO and Margaret Blackowski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other dear friends. One daughter, Evelyn Kitchens Johnson preceded her in death on October 19, 1996. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003 in the Freeman Chapel with Major Ben Stillwell officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to The Salvation Army. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

MATTERN

Rena Adair Mattern, 78, of Holts Summit, MO, died July 27, 2003, at the Miller County Care Center.

She was born May 18, 1925, to the late Ambrose Martin and Laura (Bernoudy) Thompson. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Mattern, who she married Feb. 6, 1945. Loving mother of Jolene and Ernie Woods, Paula Southerlin and the late Gene Southerlin, Barry and Debbie Mattern, Theda and Leroy Burgess, Tina and Steven Kelsey, and Tim and Suzie Mattern; dearest grandmother and great grandmother and dear sister.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 27, at 9:30 a.m. at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in  Jefferson City, MO, with the Rev. Roger Obermeier officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to the New Bloomfield Christian Church.

MONNIG

Raymond "Ray" G. Monnig, age 87, of Camdenton, MO, died Friday, July 25, 2003 in Windsor Estates Care Center, Osage Beach, MO.

Visitation will be today, Monday, July 28, from 6-8 p.m. in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2003, in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Camdenton, with Father Raphael Keyes officiating.

Burial will be in the Allee Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Anthony Catholic Church & may be left at the funeral home.

PEARSON

Larry D. 'Streaker' Pearson, 46, Tipton, MO died Saturday, July 26, 2003, Tipton, MO.

He was born June 21, 1957 in  Jefferson City, MO the son of George Raymond and Ruby Howard Pearson. His father preceded him in death and his mother, Ruby Allee with his step-father, Carl Allee, survive at Tipton, MO.

He was married June 2, 1979 in Tipton, MO to Mary Catherine Bestgen, who survives in Tipton, MO. He was a truck driver for Kenny Petree and worked for his step-grandparents Loy & Erma Allee on their farm. He also drove trucks for MFA, Schaffter Equipment, Loganbill farms, Duane Huhman, Bob Schuster and was an owner-operator for himself.

He was a 1975 graduate of Tipton High School and graduated in 1977 from State Fair Community College in Sedalia, MO with a degree in Agricultural Business and a dream of being a Truck Driver. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Tipton and the Knights of Columbus Council #1360 and a former member of the First Baptist Church all in Tipton, MO. He was a former member of the 4-H and FFA and played football while in High School.

Survivors also include: one son, George Pearson of Tipton; 3 daughters, Abby Pearson with her companion, Lonnie Fields of Barnett, Bridget and April Pearson of Tipton, MO; 2 grandchildren, Austin and Rebecka Fields; grandparents, Loy & Erma Allee of Tipton, MO; one brother, Curtie Allee of Columbia, MO and two sisters, Shelbie Schatzer with her husband, Bobby of Latham, MO and Lisa Brown with her husband, Lyle of Tipton, MO; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Kay Pearson, May 27, 1987; a niece, Sarah Marie Schatzer; his maternal and paternal grandparents; a great nephew and a sister-in-law.

Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church in Tipton, 4:00-8:00 P.M., Monday evening, July 28, 2003 with a Rosary at 8:00 P.M. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Tipton, MO with Father Dave Veit, officiating.

Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery, near Latham, MO. Memorials are suggested to the Children of Larry D. Pearson, care of Tipton-Latham Bank, Tipton, MO 65081. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, MO. Pallbearers are Mitchell Lutz, Kenny Petree, Duane Huhmann, Don Basinger, Harold Meyer, and Dan Oligschlaeger.

WOODARD

Winston Woodard, Jr., 70, of Memphis, TN, died Sunday, July 13, 2003 at his home.

He was born January 9, 1933, in Calhoun City, MS, the son of the Winston and Essie Jones Woodard Sr. who preceded him in death. He was married to Flossie M. Campbell in 1961; and he married Mary Ann Branch in 1995.

He attended Booker T. Washington High School, Memphis, TN, and S.A. Owen Junior College, Memphis, TN. He was a welder for International Harvester/Navistar Corp., in Melrose Park, IL; he retired after 30 years of service.

He was a member of Martin Temple Memorial C.M.E. Church, the L.A. Story Progressive Club, a member of United Auto Workers, a Prince Hall Mason, an Army veteran and a recipient of the Korean Service Medal, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

He is survived by six daughters, Evelyn M. Townes- Washington of Blue Island, IL, Winderlyn Y. Woodard of  Jefferson City, MO, Rosa J. Miller of Chicago, IL, Donna Echie of Memphis, and Teresa Woodard and Jacqueline Hamilton, both of St. Louis, MO; two sons, Winston Woodard, III of Evergreen Park IL, and Matthew Woodard of St. Louis, MO; two sisters, Sybil W. Harris of Memphis, TN and Itelle Spencer of Hammond, IN, nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, at Martin Temple Memorial C.M.E. Church, Memphis, TN. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrison's Funeral Home Orange Mound Chapel.

DICKEY

Vera Ruth Dickey, 100, died Sunday, July 27, 2003 at the Masonic Wing of the NHC Healthcare Home in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

She was born May 14, 1903 in Montgomery City, Missouri to Charles Leonard Rogers and Anna Dobson Rogers. On June 24, 1925, she was united in marriage to Harris B. Dickey of Montgomery City.

Mr. and Mrs. Dickey owned and operated a Film Craft Photo Service in  Jefferson City, Missouri from 1935 to 1960. She was later employed by Schell and Ward's store. Mrs. Dickey was a member of the Methodist Church in New Bloomfield and the Order of Eastern Star for more than fifty years. Mrs. Dickey resided with many of her friends at the Hamilton Senior Citizen Building for nineteen years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harris Dickey; and son Leslie Dickey. Mrs. Dickey is survived by one son, Harris B. Dickey Jr. and wife, Union, Missouri; Seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at the Montgomery City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to the Hamilton Nutrition Center,  Jefferson City, Missouri. The Dickey Family is being served by Midlawn Funeral Home, Union, Missouri.

TOCZEK

Clara L. Toczek, age 75, of Stover, died Saturday July 26, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center in  Jefferson City.

She is survived by one son, three daughters, eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.

Memorials are suggested to the Ivy Bend First Responders.

MOORE

Zelma I. "Chink" Moore, age 83, of Gravois Mills, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at her home.

She is survived by two sons, two daughters, one sister, six grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2003 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Missouri River Hospice.

LITTLE

Mr. Charles R. Little, Jr., age 62 years, of  Jefferson City, MO., died Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at his home.

Funeral arrangements for Mr. Little under the direction of Freeman Mortuary are incomplete and will be announced at a later time.
