STEIGER
Roberta Marie Steiger, 89, of  Jefferson City died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri.
She was born January 9, 1914 in St. Louis, a daughter of Robert G. and Frieda E. A. Krueger Wheeler. She attended  Jefferson City and St. Louis Public Schools and St. Louis Business College. She was married September 7, 1940 in St. Louis to David M. Steiger, Sr., who preceded her in death in March 1985.
She was a Deputy Clerk for the Missouri Supreme Court for 18 years until her retirement in 1979. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons: David M. Steiger, Jr., of  Jefferson City; Jack W. Steiger of Springfield; two brothers: Col. William J. Wheeler of Savannah, Georgia; Thomas B. Wheeler of Memphis, Tennessee; and five grandchildren: Krista, Sara, Anna, Amy, and Elizabeth.
Friends will be received from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors -  Jefferson City Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors -  Jefferson City Chapel with Rev. David Phelps officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 W. Main, 636-3838.

DAVIS
Helen Irene Davis, 90 of Iberia, died October 4, 2003, at Miller County Care Center.
She was born in the Alder Springs area on September 16, 1913, a daughter of Benjamin and Myrtle (Null) Alexander. On March 6, 1933, in Clayton, she was married to Benjamin Sterling "Pat" Davis, who preceded her in death on November 24, 1992.
She worked at the Lodge of the Four Seasons for 26 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Iberia Church of Christ, the Iberia VFW Post 6167 Ladies Auxiliary, the Iberia Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 537, and the Iberia Community Club.
Survivors include: one son, James B. (Olive) Davis of Osage Beach; one brother, Farris (Dorothy) Alexander of Marthasville; two sisters, Reba Martin of Dixon and Dorothy (Pete) Akery of Tucson, Arizona; one daughter-in-law, Maxine Davis of Leesburg, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Sue Alexander of Dixon; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren. A son and a daughter preceded her in death; Robert L. Davis on July 20, 1997, and Charlotte Davis on September 13, 1973. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Burton Alexander, and four sisters, Thelma Bays, Alice Dorson, Erma Shelton, and DeLois Randolph.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Stan Way officiating. Interment will be in Iberia Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.

GINGERICH
Sharon Lee Gingerich, age 61, of Versailles, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2003 at her home.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Gingerich of the home; one son, Robert William Crain; one daughter, Deborah Lee Washburn; one brother, Donald Reid; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cornerstone Church of Versailles. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the church.

DAWSON
Ann Chappell Dawson, age 82, of Mexico, MO, died Sunday, October 5, 2003 at the Audrain Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 3, 1921 in  Jefferson City, MO to William Noland and Sylvia (Sone) Chappell. She was married to Gene Dawson on July 14, 1945 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1980.
Ann was a homemaker, a member of First Presbyterian Church, Regent of Mexico Chapter of DAR, & United Daughters of Confederacy. She was active with the YMCA. Survivors include one son: Gene Chappell Dawson, Ft. Worth, TX; one daughter: Jane Christine Kennedy, Ft. Worth, TX; five grandchildren: Jennifer Dawson, Gene D. Dawson, John Dawson, Mariann Kennedy, & Jessica Kennedy; niece, Sylvia Leezy Stoll, Webster Groves. A sister, Priscilla Leezy, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 6-8 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home, Mexico, MO. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Terri Kukuk officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in  Jefferson City, MO. Memorials are suggested to the Mexico Chapter of DAR or YMCA Endowment Fund.

DEMAND
Lynn Christine Demand, 51, Sedalia, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, at her sister Cheryl's home in Mexico, Missouri.
She was born December 19, 1951, in  Jefferson City, Missouri, daughter of Charles H. and Doris E. Rank Nance. Ms. Demand was baptized and Confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church,  Jefferson City. She worked for Third National Bank, in Sedalia, for 25 years and last held the position of Assistant Vice President and Facility Manager of the Third National Bank South 65 highway facility.
She had lived most of her life in Sedalia. Survivors include a son and his wife, Justin and Tia Demand, Sedalia; two sisters and their husbands, Cheryl and David Hammond, Mexico, Missouri and Susan and Dale Wolchke, Columbia, Missouri; a brother, James Nance,  Jefferson City and her parents, Charles and Doris Nance,  Jefferson City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Charles Nance, in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in  Jefferson City, Missouri, with Rev. Jerome Brownlee and Rev. John Hobrach officiating. Pallbearers will be William Hammond, Dale Wolchko, James Nance, Nick Kastens, Jared LaBille, Matthew Demand and Brandon Meyer. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery,  Jefferson City, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, Sedalia. The family will also receive friends one half hour prior to the service Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in  Jefferson City. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or to the  Jefferson City Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund.

FAIRCHILD
Callie Nicole Fairchild, 13, of California, Missouri, died Friday, October 3, 2003, at her home. She was born November 27, 1989, in  Jefferson City, Missouri, a daughter of Susan Pettus and Ed Fairchild. She attended the Special Learning Center from 1989-1994 and the Kirchner School in  Jefferson City for two years until she was homebound.
Callie liked country music, animals, going places, colorful lights, and enjoyed her three brothers attention.
She is survived by her mother & step-father: Susan and Mike Johnson of California, Missouri; her father: Ed Fairchild of  Jefferson City; three brothers: Zach Fairchild, Seth Fairchild and Jacob Johnson all of California, Missouri; maternal grandparents: Larry & Sally Pettus of Kansas City, Missouri; maternal grandfather: Lonnie Johnson of Centertown, Missouri; paternal grandparents: Pete & Rachel Fairchild of  Jefferson City and paternal great-grandmother: Violet Amend of  Jefferson City.
Friends will be received from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors- Jefferson City Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2003, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors- Jefferson City Chapel. Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Cemetery in California, Missouri.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Special Learning Center; the Kirchner School or the University of Missouri Children's Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. OERLY
Frank T. Oerly, 101, Jamestown, MO passed away Friday, October 3, 2003 at California Care Center in California, MO.
He was born on April 7, 1902 north of Jamestown, MO on the family farm in the Splice Creek area to William and Barbara Schilb Oerly. He married Edna Stevens on February 23, 1927 in Kansas City, and she passed away on October 27, 1961. He then married Eula Stauffer on March 30, 1965, she passed away on October 27, 1992.
Mr. Oerly joined Splice Creek United Methodist Church in 1915 where he was a life long member until its dissolution in 1992. There he served as President of the Board, Treasurer, Trustee, Layleader, and Superintendent of the Sunday School. He then joined the Jamestown United Church of Christ. He served on the Jamestown School Board, was a 4-H leader, President of the Wooldridge Telephone System, and managed a local baseball team.
Mr. Oerly worked as Superintendent of Construction for Massman Construction Co., Kansas City, MO from 1924-1942 where he supervised work on channel improvement and flood control on the Missouri and Kansas Rivers. He farmed from 1942-1963, was farm manager for the Missouri Department of Correction from 1964-1973, and was Associate Judge of Moniteau Court, 1st District from 1975-1978.
Survivors include: one son; Harry Oerly and his wife Carol of Wooldridge, MO, 3 grandchildren; Leisa Hees and her husband Russel of Jamestown, MO, Mark Oerly and his wife Marcy of California, MO, and Stephen Oerly and his wife Barbara of Jamestown, MO, 5 great grandchildren; Lance and Lyndsey Hees, Rachel and Matthew Oerly, and Dalton Oerly, 2 step great grandchildren; Jennifer and Joshua Messerli. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Oerly was preceded in death by 3 brothers; George, William, and Jacob Oerly and 5 sisters; Matilda Hickam, Marie Larimore, Nora Stock, Nettie Miller and Olivia Clay.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 5, 2003 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Jamestown, MO from 4-7 p.m. .
Funeral services will be on Monday, October 6, 2003, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Jamestown, MO at 10 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Chester Marshall. Burial will be California City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's United Church of Christ-Building Fund, Jamestown, MO 65046. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, MO.

LEE
William R. "Bill" Lee, 55, Eldon, died Oct. 3, 2003, in Eldon.
He was born May 26, 1948, in Marion, Ind., a son of E. Fred and Irene Louise (Davis) Lee, who survive in Eldon. He was married June 8, 2001, in Eureka Springs, Ark., to Kathryn E. (Hall) Lee, who survives at the home.
He graduated from Eldon High School in 1967. Bill worked in maintenance on the Katy Trail for the Department of Natural Resources of Missouri for sixteen years in the Columbia and  Jefferson City area. He was co-owner of the This Bud's For You Florist and Gifts of Eldon.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Angela Bashore, Eldon, Missouri; one step-daughter, Tawnya Albertson, of the home; two grandsons, Alex and Austin Bashore, both of Eldon, Missouri; one brother, David Lee, Springfield, Missouri; and three sisters, Sherry Koger, Apple Valley, Minnesota, Shirley Cunningham, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, and Sharon Golden, Hammond, Indiana. She was preceded in death by his step-son, Troy Albertson, and a sister, Naomi "Lee" Luttrell.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2003, at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, Missouri. Rev. Gene Edwards and Rev. Randall Bunch will officiate. Burial will be in the Eldon City Cemetery, Eldon, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2003, at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, Missouri.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

BARROWS
Fern Adell Barrows, age 101, of Versailles, passed away Friday afternoon, October 3, 2003 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
She is survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery near Versailles.
Eastern Star Services will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, at the funeral home followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

BARNARD
Emma L. Volkart Barnard, 95, California, MO passed away Friday, October 3, 2003 at her home in California, MO.
She was born on March 20, 1908 in rural Moniteau County, Missouri the daughter of Rudolph Johnson and Louise Wahl Folkerts who preceded her in death. She was married on September 1, 1927 to Alfred "Kotch" Volkart who passed away on June 4, 1953. She then married Edwin Chester Barnard on June 6, 1971 who passed away on January 30, 1989.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include 3 sons; Rex Volkart, Jim Volkart, of California, MO and Alan Volkart of Columbia, MO, 3 daughters, Arline Funkhouser of Pleasant Hill, MO, Judy Leithauser of Russellville, MO, Anita McDonald of Latham, MO, 2 step-daughters; Patsy Greenway of Eldon, MO and Joann Holliday of  Jefferson City, MO, 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild. Other survivors include her brother Richard Folkert of Pharr, TX and her sister Margaret Frascona of Charlotte, NC. Emma was preceded in death by an infant son; Lex Volkart, 2 stepchildren; Bobby Barnard and Bonnie Kempker, great grandson; Anthony Murphy and 7 brothers and 4 sisters.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 5, 2003 from 4-7 p.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 6, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Dr. Rev. Peter Kurowski. Burial will be in Defoe Cemetery, Russellville, MO.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Radio Ministry, 207 N. Owen, California, MO 65018 or Defoe Cemetery, c/o Rex Volkart, 502 Morgan, California, MO 65018. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, MO.

CARTER
Huey Ondue Carter, 78 of St. Elizabeth, died October 3, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Care Center.
He was born in Weleetka,  Oklahoma, on October 7, 1924. On October 9, 1943, in Marked Tree, Arkansas, he was married to Julia Josephine Whitman, who survives at the home.
Other survivors include: 4 daughters; 1 son; 1 brother; 4 sisters, 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, at Rekus Funeral Home in St. Elizabeth.
Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Capps Cemetery near St. Elizabeth.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Elizabeth Care Center.

SOMMERER
Chad Sommerer, 17, of Wardsville, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, due to injuries sustained in an ATV Four Wheeler accident in Callaway County.
Arrangements are pending with the HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors- Jefferson City Chapel, 2613 West Main Street; 636-3838.
