BLANKENSHIP
Frank Blankenship, age 96 years, of  Jefferson City, died Thursday, November 6, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born on February 17, 1907, at Carterville, MO, a son of George Franklin and Hallie Hyancith Jeffers Blankenship.
When he was a baby, the family moved to Lamar, MO, where he grew up. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1925. In 1929, Frank moved to Nevada, MO and worked in the Accounting Department of the Missouri Pacific Railroad Co. until the office was closed in 1931. Frank moved to  Jefferson City in February of 1933 to begin a sixty-eight year career with the State of Missouri. He bagan working in 1933 in the State Auditor's Office. Since that time, he has held the following positions with the State of Missouri: Chief Clerk - Income Tax Division, Supervisor of Income, Inheritance, Intangible and Corporation Franchise Taxes, Assistant State Treasurer, and Executive Secretary of the Board of Fund Commissioners. He retired from state government in December of 2001.
Frank was married January 24, 1932, at Carthage, MO to LaDene F. Bills, who preceded him in death on November 27, 1992. They had one son, Jerome (Jerry) F. Blankenship, who died August 13, 1992.
Frank is survived by a daughter-in-law, Janice Blankenship Hohenstreet of  Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Jerald M. Blankenship of  Jefferson City; Jeanne L. Little of Columbia, Jeffrey F. Blankenship of  Jefferson City, and six great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of  Jefferson City and was a Fifty-year member of the Masons, Scottish Rite, and Shriners. He was also a Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Visitation will be at the Buescher Memorial Home, Saturday, 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of  Jefferson City or to the Charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral services will be held at the Buescher Memorial Home, Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Doyle Sager and Dr. Thomas W. Nelson to officiate. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the BUESCHER MEMORIAL HOME.

SALING
Frances Levene Saling, age 90, of Mokane, died Thursday, October 23, 2003, at the Riverview Nursing Home in Mokane.
She is survived by 2 sons: Wesley Saling and Charles Saling, both of Tooele, Utah; 2 daughters: Dora Weems of Mokane, MO and Darlene Gubler of Salt Lake City; 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 1 sister: Bonnie Maddox of Fulton and 1 brother: Russell Derleth of Mokane.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fulton. Burial will follow in the Mokane Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Debo Funeral Home in Fulton and again on Monday morning at the church from 10-10:45 a.m.

BENZ
Carolyn Ann Bret Benz, 69, of Bonner Springs, KS, died Friday, October 17, 2003 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Merriam, KS.
Carolyn was born May 12, 1934 in Bonnots Mill, MO. She graduated from St. Peter's High School in  Jefferson City, MO and received her Nursing Degree in 1955 from DePaul Nursing School in St. Louis, MO. She then worked at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Louis.
After her children were older she retired to nursing in the Bonner Springs Head Start/Migrant Program where she enjoyed working for 5 years before she went to work as a nurse in the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center & Psychiatric Unit at Providence Hospital in Kansas City, KS for several years.
She was an active member of the Al-Anon Family Group. She touched many lives through her dedication in this program. Carolyn was a devoted and loving wife, mother, & grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ray Benz of the home; 2 sons, Jeff Benz and wife Terri, Josh Benz and wife April, all of Kansas City, MO; 2 daughters, Elaine Fowler and husband Ray of Bonner Springs, KS, Marcy Masters and husband Ted of Evans, Georgia; 11 grandchildren, Julianne, Jennifer, Jacob, Meg, Zach, Kent, Kale, Meridith, Natalie, Liyah, and Tori; 1 sister, Mary Freitag and husband Rudy of York Harbor, Maine.
A funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 20 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shawnee, KS. Burial was held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. Thanks to all those special caregivers who took care of our precious angel. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Parkinson's Foundation of the Heartland, 7800 Foster, Shawnee Mission, KS. Funeral arrangements were provided by Alden-Herrington Funeral Home, (913) 422-4074.

SCHAD
Nora Broox Schad, age 21, of Holts Summit, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2003, in  Jefferson City, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born January 20, 1982, in Columbia, Missouri, the daughter of Avery Kent and Rosella Lorine Knipp Schad.
She graduated from  Jefferson City High School in 2000 and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia for two years, and was a member of the MU Marching Band Color Guard both years. She was presently a student at The Institute of Beauty and Wellness in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and member of St. Peters Catholic Church in  Jefferson City.
Survivors include her parents: Avery Kent and Rosella Lorine Schad of the home; two sisters: Martha Rosa Schad of Troy, New York and Brianne Elizabeth Schad of the home; one brother: Dane Avery Schad of Columbia; paternal grandmother: Virginia Schad of Barnett; maternal grandparents: Harold and Carmelita Knipp of Tipton; her Godparents: Barbara Meyer and Vincent Knipp; several aunts, uncles, cousins, great aunts and uncles; great-great aunt Nora Embry of Tipton; great-great uncle: Louis Wolf and wife Anna Wolf of Conyers, Georgia; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather: Johnnie Schad; a cousin: Brian Schad; and a uncle: Ronald Knipp.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2003, at the Slater-Millard Funeral Home in Holts Summit, where the Rosary will be prayed at 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, at St. Peter Catholic Church in  Jefferson City, with Father Donald W. Lammers officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery near Barnett.
The family suggests memorials to St. Peters Grade School Renovation Fund in  Jefferson City, or the  Jefferson City Public Schools Foundation, Performing Arts Center in  Jefferson City. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

LUEBBERING
Agatha Mary Luebbering, 97 of St. Thomas, died November 7, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born in Osage County on August 8, 1906, a daughter of Christopher and Anna (Ortbals) Strope. On January 21, 1930, in St. Thomas, she was married to Herman Paul Luebbering who preceded her in death on August 12, 1994.
She was employed in her early days as childcare and homemaker in  Jefferson City for many years for Dr. Rueben Rhodes. She was a homemaker and lifelong member of the St. Thomas community. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the St. Ann's Sodality.
Survivors include: four sons and their wives, Ray and Lorraine Luebbering, Bob and Betty Ann Luebbering, and Norman and Shirley Luebbering all of St. Thomas, and Reuben and Rita Luebbering of Westphalia; three daughters, Mary Jane Bexten and husband, Ralph of Rich Fountain, Dolores Holterman and husband, Robert of Westphalia, and Rose Ann "Rosie" Schaefer of  Jefferson City; one sister, Christine Luebbering of  Jefferson City; 35 grandchildren, including two nuns, and 60 great-grandchildren.
A son, Donald Luebbering, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Schaefer, three brothers, Otto, Ed, and Tom Strope, and one sister, Rose Luebbering.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, November 10, at the St. Thomas Knights of Columbus Hall in St. Thomas with a Senior Citizens Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Porterfield officiating. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Thomas the Apostle School or St. Thomas Knights of Columbus.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.

SULLENS
Clara V. Sullens, age 81, of  Jefferson City, died Wednesday, November, 12, 2003, at her home.
She was born Feb. 4, 1922, near Brazito, a daughter of Herman and Maggie Viessman Jungmeyer. She was united in marriage to Robert W. Sullens on December 14, 1952, in  Jefferson City, and he survives at their home.
She worked at Tweedies Shoe Company in  Jefferson City and was a homemaker. She enjoyed tending her flower garden, being outside on the farm and taking care of animals.
Survivors also include daughter: June Sullens of  Jefferson City; son and daughter-in-law: Robert and Lila Sullens of Lohman; son-in-law: Ron Gonzagowski of  Jefferson City; brothers and sister-in-law: John A. Jungmeyer and Martin and Mary Jane Jungmeyer, all of  Jefferson City; and granddaughters: Nicole Hoskins and husband, Travis and Shawna Gonzagowski. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter: Barbara Gonzagowski.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until time of service on Friday, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2003, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near  Jefferson City.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

DUNN
Mrs. Dorothy L. Dunn, age 89 years, of Holts Summit, MO, died Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the St. Josephs Home for the Aged.
Mrs. Dunn was born January 29, 1914 at Sciota, Illinois, the daughter of C. A. and Elva A. Bartlow Wood, both deceased. She was married on March 29, 1941 at St. Louis, MO to Richard M. Dunn, who survives at the home.
Mrs. Dunn was a 1932 graduate of  Jefferson City High School and received at teaching certificate from Warrensburg State Teachers College. She taught school in Boone County for four years. She was employed with the Missouri Attorney General's Office under Attorney Generals Roy McKittrick, J. C. Taylor, and John M. Dalton. Later, she was the receptionist in Governor John Daltons office. Mrs. Dunn retired from the Missouri Secretary of State's office, where she assisted in the publication of the Blue Book.
She attended the Union Hill Baptist Church, Holts Summit, MO, a past president of the Callaway County Democratic Club; a chairman of the ninth district of the Womens Democratic Club; a member of the Holts Summit Civic Assn., a State Vice-President of the Young Democratic Club of Missouri, and a member of the  Jefferson City Womens Club. Mrs. Dunn was co-chairman of the Bicentennial celebration for Callaway County.
Other survivors include: three cousins; Bonnie Chapin and Marilyn White of LA Harp, Illinois and Doris Lusk of Macomb, Illinois.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2003 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend G. Dale Norfolk officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to The Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders Assn. or the Callaway County Humane Society. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

CLARK
Everett Elton Clark, 68, of  Jefferson City died Friday, September 26, 2003 at his home. He was born October 26, 1934 in Bluffton, Missouri, a son of Rudolph and Lola Maude Steele Clark. He attended Hermann High School. He was married June 14, 1958 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Rosebud to Barbara Winthorst, who survives at the home.
He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, serving in Italy. He owned and operated his own auto repair shop from 1957 to 1965. He worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation from 1965 until his retirement in 1996 as Chief of the Operations Division. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
He is also survived by two daughters: Nancy Rollins and husband Steven of  Jefferson City; Karen Boeger and husband Michael of  Jefferson City; and one granddaughter, Caroline Boeger. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Clark, and two brothers: Kenneth Clark and Loren Clark.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors- Jefferson City Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Tony Alter and Rev. Alvin Lange officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Faith Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 W. Main, 636-3838.

FRANKEN
Lorine Marie Franken, 88, of  Jefferson City, died Thursday, September 25, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born on March 3, 1915 in Castle Rock, MO, the daughter of Albert A. Schepers and Christina Toebben Schepers.
She was married on November 23, 1939 in Wardsville to Paul Theodore Franken who died on July 21, 1983.
A homemaker, Mrs. Franken had been employed in earlier years with Oberman Manufacturing Company, and with the Missouri Department of Revenue Division of Reciprocity for thirteen years.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where she was active with the Perpetual Adoration, Prayer Line, and Parish Council. She was a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella; a member of the Fourth Degree Assembly, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary; Ladies Sodality; St. Marys Health Center Auxiliary; Senior Bowling League; Central Bank Classic Club; various card clubs; and the Monday night weekly neighborhood block Rosary.
Mrs. Franken is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Marilyn & Bob Bock, St. Charles, MO; Jane and Fred Szabados,  Jefferson City; and Gaiola M. Sochinski,  Jefferson City; a daughter-in-law, Betty Jean Franken,  Jefferson City; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Levi Schepers, Wardsville; and two sisters, Edna Franken, St. Louis; and Dolores Thruston,  Jefferson City.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Paul Franken; a grandson, Jeffrey L. Franken; five brothers, John Schepers, Clarence Schepers, Vincent Schepers, Norbert Schepers, and Wilfred Schepers; a sister, Clara Prenger; and an infant sister, Dorothea Schepers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. James M. Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, 3210 N. Ten Mile Drive,  Jefferson City, MO 65109, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Helias Foundation, 1305 Swifts Highway,  Jefferson City, MO 65101; or Samaritan Center, 1310 E. McCarty Street,  Jefferson City, MO 65101.

FRANKLIN
Calvin Kelly Franklin, 77 of Eldon, died September 26, 2003, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia. He was born in Olean on December 1, 1925, a son of Rueben Alton and Odessa Lola (Thompson) Franklin. In 1946 he was married to Etta L. McDaniel who preceded him in death on June 5, 1979. On June 25, 1980, in Aurora Springs, he was married to Dorothy Grace Brown McDaniel who survives at the home.
He was a graduate of Olean High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater in the 104th Timber Wolf Infantry Division. He lived in Rolla from 1954-1985 and then in Chicago for a short time returning to Eldon in 1989. He was a member of the Miller County VFW Post 2442 in Eldon and Ridgeview Christian Church in Rolla.
Other survivors include: one son, Carl R. Franklin of Rolla; one daughter, Rita Franklin Crain of Rolla; one brother, Carl W. Franklin of Rolla; two sisters, Maxine Shaw of Eldon and Darlene Wilson of  Jefferson City; two grandchildren, Brent A. Radcliff and Kelly Elizabeth Franklin and one great-granddaughter, Kylee Lynne Radcliff.
Two sisters, Bernadyne Backhaus and Chlorene Whitson, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, September 29, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Ernie Buscher officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens near Barnett.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
