SAMPSON
Raymond Gerald Sampson, 83 of Des Moines, Iowa, died Sunday, June 20, 2004. Raymond was born July 22, 1920, in Consol, Iowa, the son of Edward and Esther (Anderson) Sampson. He served our country in the Army during WWII, and was a paratrooper with the #507th Company E at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. He was awarded two Purple Hearts. He retired from Fruehauf Trailer Co. of Des Moines after 35 years service. Raymond enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Senior Owls League.
Surviving are his children Stephen (Pat) Sampson of  Jefferson, City, Mo. ; Richard (Penny) Sampson of Omaha, Nebraska; Sandra Sampson and Karole (Ron) Dyer both of Des Moines; and Gerald (Ann) of Altoona, Iowa; siblings Verna Davis of Helen, Georgia; Alvin Sampson of Los Gatos, Calif. and Veora Fahnstock of Iowa City, Iowa; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma in 1994.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery, in Des Moines. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Raymond's name to the Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA 50310.

STEINHAUSER
Mrs. Inez L. Steinhauser, age 101 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died June 20, 2004, at  Jefferson City Manor Care Center.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete under the direction of the Buescher Memorial Home.

BURRIS
James Burris, 81, of St. Robert, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, in the Life Care Center, Waynesville.
Survivors include: two daughters, Julie Toreroon of Illinois and Diana Burris of Indiana; four brothers, Clarence Burris & Merrill Burris, both of Texas , Charles Burris of Illinois, and George Burris of St. Robert, Mo.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, in the Antioch Cemetery, Crocker.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, in the Antioch Cemetery, Crocker, with Bro. Billy Claiborn, Hilltop Christian Union Church, Crocker, officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of the Long Funeral Home, Crocker.

HOFFMAN
James Ray Hoffman, age 58, of Rocky Mount, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at his home.
He was born August 20, 1945, in  Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of Isaac Newton and Dora Gladys McMillian Hoffman.
James was a U. S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by one son, Toby Hoffman of Lake Ozark; three daughters, Jody Hoffman of Lake Ozark, Tina Hoffman of Rocky Mount, and April Hoffman of  Jefferson City; one brother, Buddy Hudson of Columbia, five grandchildren, two aunts, two uncles, and several close cousins.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 24, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the AMVETS Post 108 in Rocky Mount. Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

BERTUCCI
Frank Bertucci, age 90, of Russellville, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at St. Marys Health Center in  Jefferson City.
He was born April 13, 1914, in Chicago, Illinois to Joe and Mary Galle Bertucci. He married Mary Alice Stamper in Chicago and she survives at their home.
He worked as a pressman in Chicago for 59 years.
Survivors also include one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Juanita Bertucci, Russellville; three sisters, Angie Szatkowski, Rosemary Renda and Theresa Crisanti, and one brother and sister-in-law, Bruno and Marge Bertucci, all of Chicago; two grandchildren, Bobby Bertucci and wife Crystal, and Susan Henson and husband Stan Jr., all of Russellville; four grandsons, Brandon and Anthony Bertucci, Derek and Cole Henson.
Christian burial services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 16, at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville with Father Rob Fields presiding. Interment will follow in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Enloe Cemetery or St. Michael's Catholic Church.

BOEHM
Joan Boehm, 48, of  Jefferson City, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at the University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2004, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors -  Jefferson City Chapel.
Additional arrangements will be published in the Friday edition of the News Tribune. Arrangements are under the direction of the HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors -  Jefferson City Chapel, 2613 West Main Street; 636-3838.

EYNARD
David William Eynard, 56, of  Jefferson City, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at his residence.
He was born on August 7, 1947, in Fulton, Mo., the son of Jerome Alfred and Ethel Margaret Cranston Eynard. His mother survives in  Jefferson City.
He was a 1965 graduate of Helias High School, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969 from Lincoln University. Mr. Eynard was associated with several Montgomery-Ward stores in earlier years, and most recently as assistant manager of the Pueblo, Colorado, Montgomery-Ward store. He later returned to  Jefferson City and was associated with Wal-Mart Super Store in the produce department.
He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid jig-saw puzzle enthusiast, and followed the NASCAR racing circuit.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Stephanie Manley, Houston, Texas ; one brother, Stephen L. Eynard and his wife, Sylvia, Norfolk, Nebraska; two nieces, Tara Eynard, Omaha, Nebraska and Amy O'Connor, Ottawa, Canada; and one great-niece, Cailynn O'Connor. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Alfred Eynard on April 2, 2004.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004, at St. Joseph Cathedral with the Rev. Thomas E. McGrath officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2004, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, 3210 N. Ten Mile Drive,  Jefferson City, MO 65109 (893-5251) with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Eynard Family Scholarship Fund at Helias High School, 1305 Swifts Highway,  Jefferson City, MO 65109.

JACKSON
Elmer Louie Jackson, 93, of Fulton, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Fulton Presbyterian Manor.
He was born on March 17, 1911 in Jewett, Missouri, the son of Granville Clifford and Laverine Pinkney Jackson. He was married to Alice Walker on August 4, 1951 and she preceded him in death on May 17, 1978. He then married Cecile Gallop on May 27, 1987 and she preceded him in death on September 17, 1993.
He was retired from Central Food Services at the University of Missouri in March 1973.
He is survived by two stepdaughters, Rose Watson of Lakewood, Colo. and Selma Kelle of Blue Springs, Mo; one stepson, Bob Bentley of Fulton; one sister, Pauline Halley of East Alton, Ill. ; nine step grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren and two step great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.
Celebration Services will be held Saturday, July 17, at 11 a.m. in the Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Mr. Lewis Baumgartner. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery in Marion, Missouri with Mr. Bruce Williamson.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

RIESEL
Hugo Arnold Riesel Jr., age 65, of Gravois Mills, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo.
Survivors include: his wife, Donna L. Riesel, of the home; two daughters, Robin Naeger of Ste. Genevieve, Mo. and Penny Wilkinson of Gravois Mills, Mo. ; five step-children; five brothers; two sisters; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Pailiative Care Unit, c/o Boone Hospital Care Center.

SHIPLEY
Orvil Lee Shipley, age 82, of Eldon, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 11, 2004 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
He was born July 29, 1921 in Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah; one son, Roy Gene Shipley; one daughter, Maxine Agnes Helm; and a stepson, Bernal Jeffries. He is survived by nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 16, at the Versailles Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

SMITH
Mr. Jeffrey Lee Smith, age 33 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at the University of Missouri Health Sciences Center, Columbia, Mo., after an automobile accident.
Jeffrey was born February 12, 1971, at  Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Linda Lou Chalfant Smith. His mother survives in  Jefferson City, Mo.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Jeffrey was a 1989 graduate of Cole County R-5 High School, Eugene, Mo. He served in the Operation Desert Storm in Iraq with the Missouri Army National Guard. He was employed as a network security administrator with the Missouri State Public Defenders office. His greatest joy was being a father of three children. His laughter and love will forever be remembered.
Other survivors include: his fiancee, Rachelle Woods of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; one son, Aiden Jeffrey Smith of the home; two daughters, Ashley and Caitlyn of the home; one sister, Stacy Rush and her husband, Jason of Eldon, Mo. ; maternal grandparents, Ken and Margaret Wilson of  Jefferson City, Mo.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004, at the Hickory Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Jason McNaughten and the Reverend Shane Crum officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at the Hickory Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Aiden Jeffrey Smith Educational Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

TABER
Clarence J. Taber, age 100, of Dixon, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, in Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla.
He was born July 9, 1904, in the State of  Oklahoma, a son of Cleave and Nanna Taber.
Mr. Taber was a U. S. Army World War I Veteran, having served in the Horse Calvary.
Survivors include one brother: Floyd W. Taber, Green Valley, Ariz. ; one niece: Raydine Taber, St. Louis, Mo. ; devoted friend: Eva Barnett, Dixon, Mo.
Graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2004, in the Pisgah Cemetery, Dixon. Arrangements are under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home.

HOWARD
Bobbie Jean Howard, 45, of  Jefferson City, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Capital Region Medical Center in  Jefferson City.
She was born January 21, 1959, in Maryville, Missouri, a daughter of Bob L. and Norma Jean Evers Duncan. Bobbie was a 1977 graduate of  Jefferson City High School and went on to earn her degree in Public Relations from Central Missouri State University in 1981. She was married July 11, 1981 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in  Jefferson City to Dr. James P. Howard. He survives her at the home.
Bobbie was the office manager at Howard Veterinary Hospital for over 20 years. She had previously worked at the Missouri Bankers Association and First National Bank and Trust Company. She was a member of P. E. O. -Chapter HM, Sigma Kappa Sorority, Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), and the Cathedral of St. Joseph.
She served as treasurer for the Lady Jays Tennis Boosters, President of the Thomas  Jefferson Middle School P. T. A. and was a Past-President of the South School P. T. A., the  Jefferson City Figure Skating Club and the  Jefferson City High School Alumni Association. Bobbie enjoyed life to the fullest, with her favorite role being the consummate mother to her two children.
She is survived by a daughter: Jennifer Gayle Howard of the home; a son: Bradley James Howard of the home; her mother: Norma Jean Duncan of  Jefferson City, Missouri; two sisters: Mary Esta Chapman of Columbia, Missouri; Catherine Louise Coil of  Jefferson City, Missouri; two brothers: Michael Dean Duncan (wife Debbie) of  Jefferson City, Missouri; Patrick Lester Duncan (wife Jennifer) of  Jefferson City, Missouri; and numerous extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father: Bob L. Duncan.
Friends will be received from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2004, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors -  Jefferson City Chapel, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with Fr. David Buescher officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the  Jefferson City Public Schools Foundation, P. O. Box 2152,  Jefferson City, MO 65102. Arrangements are under the direction of the HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors -  Jefferson City Chapel, 2613 West Main Street; 636-3838.
