Teresa L. Sommerer, 50, California, Mo. died Monday, September 6, 2004 at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility in  Jefferson City, Mo.
She was born on February 22, 1954 in Sedalia, Mo., the daughter of Gene and Dorothy Louise Porter Russell who survive of Aurora, Mo.
She was a Lab Technician 1 for Unilever in  Jefferson City, Mo., for 31 years.
She is survived by two sons, Micky Sommerer and his wife, Tammy of California, Mo. and Derek Sommerer and his wife, Maxine of  Jefferson City, Mo., one daughter, Lorraine Webb and her husband, Jesse of  Jefferson City, Mo., two brothers, Bob Russell and his wife, Denise of California, Mo. and Kenneth Russell and his wife, Rose of Aurora, Mo., and eight grandchildren, Alisha Bland, Hayley Webb Becky Sommerer, Deriyn Webb, Kelly Sommerer, Deven Sommerer, Colby Sommerer and Cailey Sommerer.
Private graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2004. Officiating will be Rev. Greg Morrow. Burial will be in Gamble Cemetery south of California, Mo.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, Mo. from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Community Hospice, 1005 Northeast Dr.,  Jefferson City, MO 65109. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, Mo.

VERMEERSCH
James Leo Vermeersch, 63, of  Jefferson City died Monday, September 6, 2004 at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born June 11, 1941 in East St. Louis, Illinois, a son of Leon James and Marie Leech Vermeersch. He received his degree in finance and a doctorate of law degree from the University of St. Louis. He was married to Maurie Brauch, who survives at the home.
Jim was an attorney licensed to practice law in the state of Missouri, before the Federal Courts and before the U. S. Supreme Court.
He was an agent with the F. B. I. for 28 years, assigned to the Boston and New York City offices, where he investigated bombings, drug cases, top ten fugitive cases, and had several undercover assignments. In 1976 he received a transfer to the St. Louis Division, where he served 15 years as the Chief Legal Counsel to the F. B. I. St. Louis office, and on a national advisory board. In 1986, he assumed the additional responsibility of overall coordination of all F. B. I. training to local law enforcement and supervision of the F. B. I. Physical Fitness Program throughout Eastern Missouri.
In 1991 he was designated as a Special Agent U. S. Attorney to represent the F. B. I. and F. B. I. agents in federal court proceedings. He has provided extensive legal training to the police departments and sheriff departments all across the country. Jim retired from the F. B. I in July 1994, and was elected by the Missouri Sheriffs to be the Executive Director of the Missouri Sheriff's Association and the Missouri Sheriff's Training Academy. He was a member of the National Sheriff's Association, where he served on the Executive Director and President's Committee. He was also president of the Missouri Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation.
He is also survived by one daughter, Colette Bracken and husband Michael of Chicago, Illinois; one son, James Leo Vermeersch Jr., and wife Leslie of Chesterfield; one stepdaughter, Ashley Gould of  Jefferson City; four sisters: Jean Zambruski of Fenton; Joan Jacquot of Warrenton; Joyce Klaas of Chicago, Illinois; Janet Romero of Virginia; and two grandchildren: Michael Bracken Jr., and James Leo Vermeersch III.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors -  Jefferson City Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2004 at Assumption Catholic Church, 4725 Mattis Road, St. Louis. Additional visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Interment will follow in Shepherd Hills Cemetery, St. Louis.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Law Enforcement Survivors Benefit, in care of the Missouri Police Chiefs Association, 1001 E. High St.,  Jefferson City, MO, 65101. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 W. Main, (573) 636-3838.

WEST
Jacob Thunder West, infant son of John West and Melanie Cross, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at Columbia Regional Hospital.
Survivors include: the parents and two sisters, Rain Cross and Alyssa West, all of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; and grandparents, Nancy Belt of Wardsville, Terrence McNally of Nixa, Shawn & Alice Hernandez of  Jefferson City.
There are no services planned at this time.

WOOLERY
Steven Ray Woolery, age 54 of Iberia, died Tuesday, September 7, 2004, near Iberia.
He was born in Iberia on March 28, 1950, a son of Theodore Junior and Ruby Alice (McCubbin) Woolery. His father preceded him in death and his mother, Ruby Spearman, survives in Iberia. On November 6, 1968, he married LeaAna Russell, who survives at the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Kerry Woolery; two daughters, Tammy Miller and Angela Vallair; two brothers, James Woolery and William Woolery; two sisters, Patricia Parkins and Judy Malmberg; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Dennis Nichols will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

BURGESS
Elsie D. Everley Burgess, 81, of  Jefferson City died Monday, September 20, 2004 at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born March 25, 1923, in Schram City, Illinois, the daughter of Charles F. Everley and Mary E. Walker Everley. She was married January 1, 1943, to Dr. Ernest E. Burgess, who preceded her in death on March 23, 1995.
She was educated in the schools of Illinois, graduating from Coffeen High School, Coffeen, Illinois. She spent her early married life with her military husband, then assisted him in his veterinary education and became his long career friend and assistant during his 32 years of veterinary practice in  Jefferson City, Missouri, from 1952 to 1984.
She was active in Girl Scouts during her two daughter's school years. She found time to be active in the recordings for the visually handicapped over the years. She spent long hours assisting Dr. Burgess in recordings of retired veterinarians; and his work in helping to establish a Veterinary/Medical Museum in  Jefferson City in 1976.
She was a member of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, the local Alzheimer's Support Group and the Mid-Missouri Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. She was a member of the First Baptist Church,  Jefferson City. In 2001, Elsie founded the Classy Red Hatters, the  Jefferson City chapter of the Red Hat Society, which is a group of ladies over 50 who wear purple with red hats and are dedicated to having fun. She was named "Queen Bee" by the chapter members for her leadership efforts.
She is survived by two daughters: Beverley J. Payne of  Jefferson City and Rebecca L. Burgess of Mountain View, California; two sisters: Ellen Shirley of Greenwood, South Carolina, Blanche Greenwood of Fillmore, Illinois; two grandsons, one step grandson, and one step granddaughter.
Friends will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors -  Jefferson City Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2004 at the Houser Millard Funeral Directors -  Jefferson City Chapel with Rev. Murl Nash officiating. Entombment will follow in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Mid-Missouri Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 W. Main St., (573) 636-3838.

JOHNSON
Mr. Garrett Kenneth Johnson, age 66 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Saturday, September 4, 2004, at the University of Missouri Health Sciences Center, Columbia, Mo. after complications from a fall at his home.
Mr. Johnson was born April 8, 1938, at  Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Kenneth K. and Willa Dean Purdy Johnson. His mother, Mrs. Dean Johnson survives in  Jefferson City, Mo.
Mr. Johnson graduated from  Jefferson City High School in 1956. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and Arts from Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio in 1964. He received a Ph. D. in Inorganic and Physical Chemistry from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1977. He taught at the University of Missouri at Columbia and at a private Montessori School in New York City. During his career as a chemist, he worked for several companies in the eastern United States as a research chemist and program manager.
Garrett's interests included wood sculpture, photography, music and nature. Since moving back to  Jefferson City in 1988, he had exhibited his wood sculptures in several local shows.
Other survivors include: two sisters, Sidney Martin and her husband, James of Kansas City, Mo. and Virginia Johnson of Kansas City, Mo. ; two brothers, Douglas Johnson and his wife, Barbara Sassone of Prescott, Ariz. and Whitman Johnson and his wife, Linda of Santa Fe, N. M. and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth K. Johnson and one brother, Stephen Johnson.
Private graveside services and interment will be conducted at the Campground Cemetery, Sullivan County, Mo.
Friends may call at the Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2004.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Ducks Unlimited, 1 Waterfowl Way, Memphis, TN 38120 or the Samaritan Center in  Jefferson City, Mo. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

PAULSMEYER
Robert Louis (Bob) Paulsmeyer, 46, of Chamois, died Monday, September 20, 2004, on the family farm near Chamois.
He was born September 27, 1957, in  Jefferson City, the son of Arthur Junior and Eileen Mertens Paulsmeyer. He was married on August 31, 1985, at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chamois to Joyce Ann Lamb, who survives at the home.
A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Chamois High School in 1976, and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia. After college, he joined the family farm corporation. He was President of Paulsmeyer Farms Inc. and the A-1 Levee District. He was secretary of the Chamois-Morrison MFA Board of Directors. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Chamois. He loved sports and had coached his childrenís basketball, softball, and baseball teams for more than 8 years. Bob loved to hunt and fish. One of his greatest joys was catching big catfish and hosting fish fries for his family and friends.
He is also survived by four children: Alex, Benjamin, Jacquelyn, and Elijah; his mother, Eileen Paulsmeyer of Chamois; two brothers: Duane Paulsmeyer and wife Sabra and Roger Paulsmeyer and wife Sherry, all of Chamois; one sister, Jane Berger of Des Moines, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Josephine Lamb of Chamois; 28 nieces and nephews and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father and one infant son, Samuel.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Johnís United Church of Christ, Chamois.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2004, at the St. Johnís United Church of Christ with Rev. Deborah Pope officiating. Interment will follow in the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery, Chamois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Robert Paulsmeyer Childrenís Educational Trust Fund, c/o United Bank of Chamois. Arrangements are under the direction of MEYER-HILKE- MILLARD Funeral Home, Chamois, (573) 763-5658.

PETREE
Ivan E. Petree, 89, Latham, Mo., passed away Monday, September 20, 2004 at Capital Region Medical Center in  Jefferson City, Mo.
He was born November 7, 1914 in Excelsior, Mo., the son of Othor and Jessie Bechtel Petree who preceded him in death. He was married July 29, 1939 in Tipton, Mo., to Edith Fletcher who survives at the home.
He was a service manager for Heinen Garage, Tipton, Mo. ; a mechanic at Todd-Hogge, California, Mo., and did body work at Lehman's Body Shop, California, Mo. He was a member of Latham Christian Church, Latham, Mo. and was a life member of DAV. He attended Coale Banks School in Excelsior. He served in the U. S. Army in the Engineer Division during World War II and was a Purple Heart Recipient.
Other survivors include one brother, Ray L. Petree of Tipton, Mo. and two sisters, Maxine Yarnell, Clarksburg, Mo. and Cecile Allee with her husband, Gene, Boonville, Mo. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mae Schkart, Vera Watring, Rose Dunigan and an infant sister, Alice Petree and two brothers, Charles and Leo Petree.
Services will be held at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Randall. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery, north of Latham, Mo. with military honors.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 22, 2004, 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Green Grove Cemetery Fund, c/o Anita McDonald, 68004 Moser Road, Latham, MO 65050. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, Mo.

PUE
Eva Marie Pue, 77, of Sunrise Beach, died Monday, September 20, 2004 at home.
She was born April 28, 1927 at Glasco, Kansas, the daughter of Glenn Edward and Nellie Elizabeth Duvall Buckland.
She was a business owner and real estate broker/developer.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie Pue; one son, Randy Pue and wife Terri of Camdenton; four grandchildren; one brother, Gary Buckland; one sister, Betty Guipre and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 23, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. Interment will be in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery in Laurie.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

SPRADLIN
Lavenia Joyce "Meador" Spradlin, 70, Fulton, Missouri passed away Sunday September 19, 2004 at the Callaway Community Hospital in Fulton, Missouri.
She was born July 27, 1934 in Fulton, Missouri the daughter of the late Emmett and Mattie (Kettle) Meador. On July 13, 1952 she was united in marriage to James T. Spradlin. Mr. Spradlin preceded her in death on July 25, 2001.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son: James L. Spradlin and his wife Karin of  Jefferson City, Missouri; two sisters, Gene Meador of Fulton, Missouri, Kay Renfro and her husband Jerry of Laurie, Missouri; two grandchildren, Emmett and Laura Spradlin of  Jefferson City, Missouri, other relatives and many dear friends. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son Richard Allen Spradlin.
Mrs. Spradlin worked as a bus driver for the Fulton School District for many years. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church and enjoyed bowling and her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2004 at The Unity Baptist Church in Toledo, Missouri with Rev. James Preston and Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Interment will be in the Unity Cemetery in Toledo, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at the Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton, Missouri.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Unity Baptist Church or Unity Cemetery Fund c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd., Fulton, Missouri 65251.
