Mrs. Mary L. Haynes, age 83 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, June 24, 2010 at St. Mary's Health Center.
Mary was born April 25, 1927 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She was married to Raymond E. Haynes who preceded her in death. A life long resident of the central Missouri area, Mary was employed as a night auditor with several hotels. Survivors include: one son, Raymond E. Haynes of Eldon, Mo. ; one daughter, Leslie Gentry of Lake Ozark, Mo. ; one brother, Virgil Baker of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis County, Mo.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mrs. Laura A. Walther, age 76 years, of New Bloomfield, Mo. passed away July 16, 2010 at her home.
Laura was born on October 27, 1933, in Morrison, Mo. a daughter of Albert and Nellie Cain Weissenbach, both deceased. She was married on April 27, 1973 in Fulton, Mo. to Raymond John Walther who preceded her in death on March 30, 1999.
A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Laura was the House Keeping Supervisor at St. Mary’s Health Center for twenty-two years retiring in May 1999.
She was a member of Circle 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church, the Red Hatters, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 2693 and the Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003.
She loved making crafts and ceramics along with playing cards and games.
Survivors include: three daughters, Wanda Atterberry of  Jefferson City, Mo., Sharie White and her husband Chet of  Jefferson City, Mo. and Connie Less and her husband Randy of Russellville, Mo. ; two brothers, Albert Weissenbach and his wife Eve of Lancaster, Ca. and Delphus Weissenbach and his wife Gayle of Leavenworth, Ks. ; Five grandchildren, Lea Ann Kruger, Michelle Becker, Joni Lexa, Calleb Lallement and Cameron Lallement. ; Eight great-grandchildren, Ashlea Clark, Sean Lawson, Kaylea Lawson, Jeffery Robinson, Abby Becker, Kyra Becker, Hannah Aggus and Branden Aggus. ; and one great-great-grandchild, Kylea Lawson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Mary V. Haeffner on August 29, 1990.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 am Monday.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, July 19, 2010 in the Freeman Chapel with Reverend John Hobratschk officiating. A private graveside service will be conducted at Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Assn. or the American Diabetes Assn.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mrs. Joyce A. Strong, age 54 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010 at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born September 24, 1955 in Osage County, Mo. the daughter of Loyd A. and Viola C. Baumhoer Cassmeyer. On September 11, 1999 in  Jefferson City, Mo., she married James R. Strong, II.
A lifelong resident of the  Jefferson City area, Joyce was a 1973 graduate of Helias High School. She attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield.
Joyce was employed with the Missouri Division of Family Services and as a legal assistant with several  Jefferson City law firms and the Missouri Supreme Court. For the past twelve years, she was employed as a loan officer with Rural Missouri, Inc.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Immaculata Club, and the Helias Mother’s Club.
Joyce enjoyed spending time with and cooking for her family and friends. She was always involved with her children supporting them at baseball games, project graduations, and many other activities. She was an avid shopper who always loved buying shoes. She also enjoyed reading and traveling.
Survivors include: her husband, James R. Strong, II; one son, Brian Rice of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; one daughter, Kelly Rice and her fiancé, J. Christopher Schneider of Columbia, MO. ; her parents, Loyd and Viola Cassmeyer of  Jefferson City, Mo., three sisters, Darlene Muessig and her husband Matt of  Jefferson City, Mo., Barbara Kliethermes and her husband Greg of  Jefferson City, Mo., and Donna Withouse of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; brother, Carl Cassmeyer and Vicki of Westphalia, Mo. ; one step daughter, Nikki Strong of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; two step sons, Jamie Strong and Stewart Strong, both of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; and one step grandson, Braydon Pemberton.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Cassmeyer, on July 2, 1972 and one brother-in-law, Stacy Withouse, on May 25, 1988.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Monday with a prayer service to be conducted at 3:30 PM in the Freeman Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church with Monsignor David Cox and the Reverend Brendan Doyle concelebrating. Entombment will be held in the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or Helias Catholic High School. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mr. C. M. “Bob” Scrivner, of  Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at his home.
Bob was born in Russellville, Mo. the son of Rado and Iva Boaz Scrivner. He was married on January 15, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Gladys M. Hager.
A life long resident of the central Missouri area, Bob graduated from Russellville High School and the  Jefferson City Junior College.
He served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II.
Bob organized two insurance companies, World Security Life Insurance Company and  Jefferson Life Insurance Company. A licensed real estate broker, he also developed several subdivisions in  Jefferson City and Holts Summit.
He was a member of the Central United Church of Christ; a life member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; the Russellville Lodge No. 90, A. F. & a.m. ; the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Columbia; and the Moolah Temple reception committee, St. Louis, Mo.
Bob was an avid golfer and a charter member of Meadow Lake Acres Country Club.
Survivors include: his wife of sixty years, Gladys Scrivner; one brother, Loren Scrivner of Overland Park, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob donated his remains to the University of Missouri Dept. of Anatomy for educational and scientific research.
A private family service will be conducted at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Central United Church of Christ or the Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Louis, Mo.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mrs. Janice M. Bakewell, age 55 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Boone Hospital Center, Columbia, Mo after a three year struggle with breast cancer.
She was born July 23, 1954 in St. Louis, Mo. the daughter of John and Anna Belle Ramsey Breitenstein. She had been married to John Randolph Bakewell, who resides in  Jefferson City. Janice was employed by the Missouri Dept. of Health and Senior Services for thirty-one years, primarily in the areas of birth defects surveillance and maternal and child health statistics.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in  Jefferson City and found great love within the Grace Church family. She was also extremely grateful for the love and support of her DHSS coworkers. The love and support of family members and so many friends within and without  Jefferson City was deeply important to her.
Survivors: she was the proud mother of two wonderful children, Laura Caroline Bakewell, a senior at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia and Johnny Morgan Bakewell, a sophomore at  Jefferson City High School; her mother, Anna Belle Breitenstein of St. Charles, Mo. ; three sisters, Annette Fehrenbach and her husband Peter of Seattle, Washington , their daughters, Julia and Annie, Colleen Breitenstein of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Laurie Breitenstein of Chicago, Illinois, and her sons, Jack and Joe. She is also survived by an aunt, Edna Riehl of Kansas City, Mo., and uncle, James Ramsey and his wife Loretta of St. Louis, Mo. Other survivors include Thomas and Julie Bakewell of St. Louis and their children, Catherine and Myles, and Randy’s aunt Nancy Ryan Macklin.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Breitenstein in 2003.
Visitation will be at Grace Episcopal Church from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 13, 2010
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Grace Episcopal Church. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Smile Train organization, which repairs oral-facial clefts throughout the world. Information of Smile Train will be available at the visitation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Ms. Etta M. Jobe, age 82 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born October 24, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of Henry L. and Marie Graham Jobe. A resident of the  Jefferson City area for most of her life, Etta attended St. Peter School.
Etta was employed as a nurse’s aide at several hospital in Kansas City, St. Louis, and Nashville, Tennessee.
She was a very caring person and had a heart of gold.
Survivors include: one niece, Beverly Manegold of Fortland, MO. ; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Othella Jobe.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 10:30 AM Monday, July 12, 2010.
Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday at Longview Cemetery in  Jefferson City, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Immaculate Conception Church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mr. Lawrence H. “Bernie” Burnett, Jr., age 69 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Villa Marie Nursing Facility.
Mr. Burnett was born on November 8, 1940 in  Jefferson City, Mo. the son of Lawrence H., Sr. and Lucy A. Swim Burnett. A life long resident of the Central Missouri area, Bernie graduated from  Jefferson City High School.
He was employed with the State of Missouri for over 32 years with the Department of Revenue, the Highway Patrol, and the Department of Corrections as a corrections officer at the Church Farm until his retirement in 1994.
Bernie attended Community Christian Church in Blue Eye, Missouri for ten years while he was living with his sister after retirement.
He was an avid fisherman and also loved watching football, especially his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Survivors include: two sisters, Ollie Frances of Blue Eye, Missouri and Lyn Williams and her husband Dan of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; one brother, Norman Clarke and his wife Bonnie of Boonville, Mo. ; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and numerous brothers, sisters, half brothers, half sisters, and nephews.
Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10:00 am Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mr. Harold D. Turner, age 86 years, of Tebbetts, Mo., died Wednesday, June 30, 2010He was born October 2, 1923 in Tebbetts, Mo., the son of Elmer W. and Leona E. Huebler Turner. He was married on March 9, 1946 in Fulton, Mo. to Becky Hord who preceded him in death on November 4, 2005.
A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Harold attended  Jefferson City Public Schools where he played on the Jay Football Team. As a young man, he enjoyed playing baseball and was the catcher for the Tebbetts Baseball Team.
He served in the United States Army during World War II in Germany.
An avid truck driver, he was co-owner of Turner Brothers Enterprises for over fifty years and later owned Harold Turner Farm, L. L. C.
He was a member of the Tebbetts United Methodist Church in Tebbetts. Harold was a lifelong Jay Football Booster and rarely missed a game.
Survivors: two sons, B. Kent Turner and his friend Shane Gasser of San Diego, California and Sam Turner and his wife Kelli of Montgomery City, Mo. ; two daughters, Jackie Rose and her husband Rich of  Jefferson City, Mo. and Jan Fabick of Hermann, MO. ; five grandchildren, Chris, Cory, Tyler, Casey, Austin, and Dakota; three great-grandchildren, Tayler, Caleb, and Logan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother, Chester R. Turner.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Friday.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 3, 2010 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Brandon Stephens officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at the Riverview Cemetery near Tebbetts, Mo.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Tebbetts United Methodist Church or the Riverview Cemetery Assn.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
