Mr. Philip D. Roos, age 74 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, August 6, 2010 at St. Mary’s Health Center.
Philip was born April 13, 1936 in Bloemendaal, Holland. He was married on November 17, 1991 in Jefferson City to Erika Schmider.
Philip served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict.
A resident of the Jefferson City area since 1986, he was employed as a statistician with the Missouri Division of Mental Health until his retirement in December, 1999.
Philip founded the Slate Supplement to the University of California catalog and the Berkley Free Press among many political contributions during the 1960’s. For many years in the 1970’s, he was on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota and wrote a paper in the impact of the American Indian Movement on the Pine Ridge Indians.
He was a member and past president of Temple Beth El.
Philip was an avid mushroom hunter and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors: his wife, Erika Roos; one daughter, Caroline Meeks and her husband Scott of Boston, Mass. ; his grandson, Amos Meeks; his beloved step son, Christian Petke of Oakland, California; one brother, David Roos and his wife Sandy of Los Altos Hills California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Amos Roos.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 10:30 AM Sunday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Sunday, August 8, 2010 in the Freeman Chapel with Rabbi Joseph Benson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Temple Beth El.

Mrs. Margie “Lee” Mallicoat, age 86 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Jefferson City Manor Care Center.
Lee was born February 4, 1924 in Kansas City, Mo. the daughter of Charles B. and Alpha Hendricks Holden. She was married on August 27, 1942 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Marion L. Mallicoat who preceded her in death on February 4, 1993.
A life long resident of the central Missouri area, Lee graduated from the School of the Ozarks. A homemaker, she was employed as a cook with the Jefferson City Public Schools for many years until her retirement in April, 1984.
She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley E. Myers of Jefferson City, Mo. and Norma L. Rose and her husband Kent of Jefferson City, Mo; two sons, Michael D. Mallicoat and his wife Kathy of Creve Coeur, Mo, and Mark A. Mallicoat of Warrenton, Mo. ; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Mallicoat of Jefferson City, Mo. ; eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Charles L. Mallicoat, and one sister, Michelle Holden.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Monday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, August 9,, 2010 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend James Wells officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Edward F. Kuhlmann, Jr., age 59 years, of Holts Summit, Mo., died Friday, August 13, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Home.
Ed was born September 3, 1950 in Washington , Mo. the son of Edward F., Sr. and Doris N. Dysart Kuhlmann. He was married on June 5, 1971 in Fenton, Mo. to Rhonda K. Gahr. A life long resident of the central Missouri area, Ed was a 1968 graduate of Washington High School, Washington , Mo., a 1970 graduate of Jefferson Junior College, Hillsboro, MO., and a 1978 graduate of the University of Missouri at Rolla, Mo.
He served in the Missouri Army National Guard from 1970 until 1976.
Ed was employed with the Missouri Dept. of Conservation for twenty-seven years prior to his retirement as a Project Engineer in April, 2006. He was employed as a Civil Engineer at the Callaway Nuclear Plant from January, 2007 until July, 2008.
He was a member and elder at Capital City Christian Church.
Ed enjoyed crappie fishing, bow hunting, deer and turkey hunting. He was involved with the Boy Scouts and mentored many boys in turkey and deer hunts. Ed enjoyed picking blackberries and hunting mushrooms on his farm in Callaway County.
Survivors include: his loving wife of thirty-nine years Rhonda Kuhlmann, one son, Christopher A. Kuhlmann of Columbia, Mo. ; his mother, Doris Kuhlmann of Washington , Mo. ; one brother, David Kuhlmann and his wife Sue of Washington , Mo., three sisters, Linda Davis and her husband Scott of Kanopolis, Kansas, Janet Wilson and her husband Dennis of Washington , Mo., and Shirley Crouse of Thornton, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Jeffrey Kuhlmann on June 24, 2006.
Visitation will be at Capital City Christian Church from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Monday and from 9:00 until 10:00 AM Tuesday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the Capital City Christian Church with the Pastor Gary Baker and Pastor Don Fankhauser officiating. Interment will be at the Middle River Cemetery near Mokane, Mo.

Mrs. Julia R. Finley, age 71 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Capital Region Medical Center.
Mrs. Finley was born on January 3, 1939 in Divernon, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur T. and Mary E. Albright Sexton. She was married on May 28, 1960 in Chatham, Illinois to David E. Finley, who survives at the home.
Julia graduated from Glenwood High School, Chatham, Illinois in 1957. She attended the Institute of Business Techniques.
She worked as a secretary for various businesses: Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company in Springfield, Illinois from 1957 until 1960; Western Illinois University at Macomb, Illinois from 1960 until 1963; and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 1963 until 1967. From 1967 until 1979, Julie was a homemaker, serving many years volunteering in her daughters’ classrooms as room mother at West School, Brownie Troop Leader and on the West School P. T. A. Before her service at West School, she volunteered her time for the Goshorn Center in Jefferson City. She reentered the workforce full time in Jefferson City as an office assistant at several area businesses: Motor Carriers Service Tariff Bureau, Inc. from 1979 until 1993; the office of R. G. Palmer, O. D. from 1994 until 1997; and Harmon Document Retrieval Service from 1997 until her retirement in 2000.
She also found time for several hobbies including bowling, oil painting, reading, and flower gardening. She enjoyed doing puzzles and playing games of all kinds with her daughters and grandchildren. Survivors include: her loving husband of 50 years, David Finley; two daughters and their families: Dava-Leigh Brush and her husband Steve and son Benjamin of Arnold, Mo. and Kelli Reed and her husband Aaron and children, Neil and Eve of Jefferson City, Mo. ; four brothers and well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 5:00 pm Thursday, August 19, 2010.
A funeral service will be conducted at 5:00 pm Thursday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Brian Kirk officiating. A private graveside service and entombment will be conducted at Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Capital Region Medical Center Cardiac Rehabilitation Dept., or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Mr. Paul Roger Hickey, age 65 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, August 16, 2010 at the Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Roger was born August 14, 1945 in Henley, Mo. the son of George O. and Gladys P. Hoskins Hickey. He was married in November, 1966 in Kansas City, Mo. to Jody Dowden and was later married to Debbie McDowell. A life long resident of the Jefferson City area, Roger was a 1963 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He attended the University of Arizona at Tempe, Arizona and the University of Missouri at Columbia, Missouri. He graduated from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri with a degree in accounting.
Roger was a Certified Public Accountant with Cooper and Lybrand for five years in St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Phoenix. He operated P. Roger Hickey, C. P. A in Jefferson City from 1973 until his retirement in June, 2009. Roger was also a restaurant businessman for several years and operated two Captain D’s restaurants and a Backyard Burger restaurant.
He was a member of the Jefferson City Country Club. Roger played baseball with the American Legion team and Ban Johnson teams. He could often be found on the golf course, boating on Lake Ozark, at a St. Louis Cardinal game or barbequing for friends and family.
Survivors include: his daughter, Wendy Michelle Hickey of Breckenridge, Colorado; two sisters, Alice Marie Etter of Raytown, Mo. and Doris Carolyn Marlotte and her husband Mike of Shawnee, Kansas; ten nieces and nephews and their spouses Kelly and Chris Dollar of Nixa, Mo., Michelle and Jody Jones of Stockton, Mo., Kim Scott of Shawnee Mission, Ks., Cash Etter of Raytown, Mo., Lance and Joanna Etter of Leawood, Ks., Shelley Hickey of McKinney, Tx., Amy and James Copeland of McKinney, Tx., Kristi and Dave Depperman of Jacksonville, Fla., Megan and Marty Young of Gilmer, Tx., Bradley and Janelle Hickey of Japan; and 22 grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:30 AM Thursday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 AM Thursday, August 19, 2010 in the Freeman Chapel. Interment will be at the Hickory Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Leola E. Tynes, age 88 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., formerly of Linn, Mo., died Monday, August 16, 2010 at the Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born May 10, 1922 in Linn, Mo. the daughter of Leslie D. and Joycie Paschal Jett. She was married on June 3, 1939 in Linn, Mo. to Russell E. Tynes who preceded her in death on May 22, 1975.
A life long resident of the central Missouri area, Leola graduated from Linn High School. Leola was employed with the State of Missouri for many years retiring from the Missouri Dept. of Agriculture in 1987.
She was a member of the Capital City Christian Church and enjoyed crafts, painting, and embroidering. Survivors include: two daughters, Faye Schmitz of Jefferson City, Mo. and Fern Bunch and her husband Jerry of Linn, Mo. ; one son, Roger Tynes and his wife Nancy of Uniontown, Ohio; one sister, Phyllis Angell of Corpus Christi, Texas ; one brother, Robert Jett and his wife Betty of Springfield, Mo. ; one daughter-in-law, Judy Tynes of Nashville, Tennessee; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Russell Eugene Tynes; and four sisters, Neva Bryan, Lela Joy Koenig, Lois Niewald, and Virginia Jett.
Visitation will be at the Capital City Christian Church from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday, August 19, 2010.

Mr. George D. Coffman, age 82 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Saturday, August 21, 2010 at his home.
George was born May 20, 1928 in Ethel, Mo., the son of Albert and Rachel Seney Coffman. He was married on March 25, 1949 in Moberly, Mo. to Virginia D. Holbrook who preceded him in death on August 5, 1989. On June 15, 1990, in Jefferson City, Mo., he married Charlotte F. Hopkins. A life long resident of the Central Missouri area, George attended school in Moberly, Mo.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
George was employed with Milo H. Walz and later owned and operated Coffman Appliance Sales and Service. He was employed for many years as a salesman at Sears until his retirement in December, 1989. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2693.
Survivors include: his wife Charlotte Coffman; one son, Coby Coffman and his wife Jane of Jefferson City, Mo. ; two daughters, Lisa Ittner and her husband Tom of Jefferson City, Mo. and Maribeth Neidert and her husband Kim of Jefferson City, Mo., one step daughter, Tammy Lindsay-Howell and her husband Albert of Chattanooga, Tennessee; three sisters, Martha Million of Bloomington, Illinois, Dorothy Switzer of Ozark, Mo. and Dora Hoppe of Rio Rancho, California; eight grandchildren, Chad Ittner, Julie Chappell and her husband John, Nancy Coffman, Kelly Hays and her husband Brian, Lindsey Coffman, Justin Hopkins, Quinton Lindsay, and Olivia Lindsay; two great granddaughters, Avery Chappell and Briley Hays.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Virginia, one grandson, Cory Coffman, one step-son, Timothy Hopkins and five brothers and sisters, Orville Coffman, Alberta Lorton, Vivian Brandow, Edith Coffman, and Velma Pouliot.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 24, 2010.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with the Reverend Scott Musselman officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Evelyn B. Frye, age 93 years, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Villa Marie Nursing Center.
Mrs. Frye was born on September 10, 1916 in Jefferson City, Mo. a daughter of Oat and Stella Owens Taggart. She was married on December 1, 1940 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Raymond F. Frye, who preceded her in death on September 9, 1988.
Evelyn was employed as a bookkeeper with Ford Ideal Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Kansas City, Mo. for the majority of her life. After retirement, she returned to the Jefferson City area to be closer to her family.
She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and loved the church, especially attending the Sunday School class. Evelyn quilted and embroidered many beautiful quilts and she always enjoyed going to quilt shows. She loved spending time and sharing with her family and traveling with her husband and sister.
Survivors include: one sister, Wanda Wickell of Fulton, Mo. ; one niece, Joyce Wesseldine of Columbia, Mo. ; five nephews, Gale Wickell and his wife Debbie of Springfield, Mo., Michael Wickell and his wife Claire of Fulton, Mo., Gary Taggart and his wife Shirley of Jefferson City, Mo., Kenny Taggart of Columbia, Mo., and Ronnie Taggart of Jefferson City, Mo. ; and several cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Marion O. Taggart and Kenneth G. Taggart.
Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Riverview Cemetery with the Reverend Shane Crum officiating.
