Mrs. Doris Gill Dent, age 98 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at the Adams Street Nursing Center.
Doris was born December 10, 1911 in Dent County, Mo. the daughter of James and Cora Pemberton Gill. She was married on May 20, 1933 in Dent County, Mo. to Arley M. Dent.
The Dents lived in the Gill Community in Dent County, Mo. for many years where they farmed the Merrimac Farms. They lived in the Gill Community until the 1960’s. A homemaker for most of her life, Doris had managed an apartment complex after retiring from the farm in Denver, Colorado.
Doris enjoyed sewing, knitting, canning, baking, gardening, growing flowers and herbs, reading, and in her later years, an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, and golf. The main love of her life in her later years were her great grandchildren, Zach and Hannah.
Survivors include: one granddaughter, Katie Knuth of  Jefferson City, Mo., two great grandchildren, Zach and Hannah Knuth of  Jefferson City, Mo; one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Dent of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; two nephews, Claude Day and his wife Nancy Jo of Columbia, Mo. and Bob Gill of Salem, Mo,; one niece, Marilyn Walker and her husband Bob of Salem, Mo., and many friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, James Dent, one daughter, Joanne, one granddaughter, Christy Dent, one sister, Waunie Gill Jones and one brother, Bernard Gill.
Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the Cedar Grove Cemetery near Salem, Mo. Her friends and families are invited to attend.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Knuth Childrens Educational Fund.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mrs. Mary E. Carney, age 87 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at Heisinger Bluffs.
Mary was born March 18, 1923 in Licking, Mo. the daughter of James Irvin and Juanita Grant Mitchell. She was married on October 31, 1942 in Salem, Mo. to William Dale Carney, who preceded her in death on January 16, 2000.
She graduated from Licking High School and from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. with a degree in education. She also received a masters in Counseling from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
After college Mary taught grade school in several school districts around the state. She moved to  Jefferson City in 1968 where she worked as a grade school guidance counselor with the  Jefferson City Public Schools until her retirement in May, 1985.
Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School classes and enjoyed the Women’s Bible Study group. Survivors include: one son, Jim Carney and his wife Beverly of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; one daughter, Betsy Waegelin and her husband Russ of Rochester, Michigan; five grandchildren, Jenny Goodman and her husband Chris, Bart Carney and his wife Mandee, Jeff Waegelin, Matt Waegelin, and Chris Waegelin; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, June Mitchell.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Friday, November 19, 2010 .
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, November 19, 2010 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager and Chaplain Jim Mueller officiating. Committal services and entombment will be held at the Mausoleum of Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Jerry L. Nelson, age 57 years, of  Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at his home.
He was born on June 1, 1953 in Wray, Colorado the son of Bernard and Sandra Vibber Nelson. He was married on September 3, 1977 in Imperial, Nebraska to Debra J. Hansen, who survives at the home.
Jerry was a 1971 graduate of Chase County High School, Imperial, Nebraska and a 1995 graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a PhD in English.
He served in the United States Navy as a Seabee during the Vietnam Conflict.
A resident of the central Missouri area since 1999, he was employed as Associate Professor and Department Head for English, Foreign Languages, and Journalism at Lincoln University. He was previously employed at Sinte Gleska University in Mission, South Dakota.
He enjoyed woodworking, home remodeling, playing guitar and spending time with family & friends.
Survivors include: his wife of thirty-three years, Debra; his son, Zachary Nelson of Costa Mesa, Ca. ; his daughter, Alyson Nelson of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; his granddaughter, Serenity Ella Ray of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; his parents, Bernard and Sandra Nelson of Benkelman, Nebraska; and two aunts, Betty Deyle of Benkelman, Nebraska and Maxine Reckard of Largo, Florida.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM Monday, November 22, 2010.
A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 22, 2010 in the Freeman Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Jerry Nelson Memorial Fund.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Karen R. Lueckenotte, age 54 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, November 18, 2010 at her home.
Karen was born January 28, 1956 in  Jefferson City, Mo. the daughter of Isidore and Mary Wolken Lueckenotte.
A life long resident of the central Missouri area, Karen was a graduate of Cole County R-1 at Russellville, Mo.
She was employed with the Missouri Division of Economic Development for many years prior to her retirement in 2007.
Survivors include: one son, Christopher Lueckenotte and his wife Lesley of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; three grandchildren, Blake Lueckenotte, Collin Lueckenotte, and Spencer Lampe; three sisters, Joan Whittle and her husband Bill of Centertown, Mo., Betty Farris and her special friend Dale Nivens, and Agnes Brenneke and her husband Ken of Wentzville, Mo. ; five brothers, Bernard Lueckenotte of  Jefferson City, Mo., Fred Lueckenotte and his wife Maxine of St. Louis, Mo., Joseph Lueckenotte and his wife Susie of  Jefferson City, Mo., Bill Lueckenotte and his wife Diana of California, Mo., and Stanley Lueckenotte of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; thirteen nieces and nephews and thirteen great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother in infancy, John Lueckenotte.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday, November 21, 2010.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Cole County Residential Services.

Miss Clara C. Brocksieck, age 106 years, of Holts Summit, Mo., died Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Summit Villa Assisted Living Center, Holts Summit, Mo.
Clara was born October 1, 1904 in  Jefferson City, Mo. the daughter of August W. and Cora Hiedenbreider Brocksieck. A life long resident of the  Jefferson City area, Clara was a 1923 graduate of  Jefferson City High School.
She was employed as a secretary at the Tweedie Footwear Factory for many years.
Clara was a member of the Central United Church of Christ, the Prime Time Club, and the Bazarr Circle at Central United Church of Christ. Survivors include: one great nephew, Mike Sims of Denver, Colorado; three great nieces, Cindy Sims of Thornton, Colorado, Jill Bullock of Thornton, Colorado, and Sandy Cwach of Yankton, South Dakota
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edward Brocksieck and Curtis Brocksieck; and her sister, Myrtle Brocksieck.
Visitation will be at Central United Church of Christ from 9:30 until 10:00 AM Monday, December 6, 2010.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Monday, December 6, 2010 at the Central United Church of Christ with the Reverend Dr. Stephen Buchholz officiating. Private graveside services and interment will be conducted at the evangelical section of the California City Cemetery, California, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Elenor Circle at Central United Church of Christ or the Summit Villa Assisted Living Center, 229 Karen Dr., Holts Summit, Mo. 65043.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mrs. Mary Virginia “Blackie” Bright, age 92 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, November 26, 2010 at St. Mary’s Health Center.
Mary Virginia was born April 15, 1918 in  Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of George W. and Anna Mary Melcher Surface. She was married on June 14, 1942 in St. Charles, Mo. to John E. Bright who preceded her in death on November 27, 1979.
A life long resident of the  Jefferson City area, Mary Virginia attended  Jefferson City Public Schools.
A homemaker, she had been employed with the Tweedie Footwear Factory for several years.
She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mary Virginia enjoyed listening to her son’s music and spending time with family.
Survivors include: one son, Johnnie Dale Bright of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; one daughter, Beverly Sue Hedrick of  Jefferson City, Mo; two grandsons, Travis Bright Hedrick and Tyler James Hedrick, both of Kearney, Mo. ; and two great granddaughters, Kambrie Jean Hedrick and Samantha Dawn Hedrick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six sisters, Ada Gates, Goldie Surface, Gladys Houchin, Frances Phelps, Hazel Vache, and Anna Ruth Wiggins; and five brothers, Arthur Surface, Chester Surface, George Surface, Howard Surface, and Russell Surface.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Monday, November 29, 2010.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Shane Crum officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at Riverview Cemetery. The family requests cut flowers to be placed on her grave after the service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mr. George Leon Alber, age 77 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, November 28, 2010 at St. Marys Health Center.
Leon was born June 22, 1933 in Edina, Mo., the son of Louis A. and M. Thelma Luke Alber. He was married on May 7, 1955 in  Jefferson City, Mo. to Leona G. Schmidt who preceded him in death on October 12, 1990.
A life long resident of the Central Missouri area, Leon graduated from Edina High School, Edina, Mo.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and later served in the Missouri Army National Guard.
Leon was a car salesman with Riley Chevrolet for many years. He also owned and operated the Ecco Lounge and the Cove Restaurant and Bar on Sunset Lake for several years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church; a member of the Knights of Columbus; the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 2693; and a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5.
Survivors include: two daughters, Christine Finch and her husband Greg of San Diego, California and Leanne M. Pecher of Holts Summit, Mo. ; one son, Louis M. Alber and his wife Darla of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; one brother, Charles Alber and his wife Peggy of Kahoka, Missouri; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one son, Kent Alber.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 30, 2010 with a prayer service to be conducted at 3:30 PM in the Freeman Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church with Monsignor David Cox and the Reverend Thomas Alber concelebrating. Graveside services and entombment with military honors will be conducted at the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Mr. Richard W. Brauner, age 71 years, of St Martins, Mo. passed away November 29, 2010, at the  Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Brauner was born February 21, 1939, in  Jefferson City, the son of Chris and Emma Gangwish Brauner. Richard was first married on April 21, 1960 in St. Martins, Mo. to Ruth Philomena Kroll for 29 years. She preceded him in death on January 30, 1989. Richard remarried on June 22, 1991 in St. Martins, Mo. to Bonnie Dwight.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Richard attended Immaculate Conception School.
Richard started his career with Great Central Lumber Company as a truck driver while a member of the Missouri Army National Guard. From 1965 to 2001, he worked and retired after 36 years from Von Hoffman Press of  Jefferson City as third shift supervisor and also worked part time as a bricklayer.
He was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 2693, and a former member of the St. Martins Knights of Columbus #7194. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, shooting pool, golfing, dancing, traveling, camping, and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and he will be truly missed.
Survivors include: his wife of 19 years, Bonnie Brauner; his son, Richard J. “Rick” Brauner of St. Martins, Mo. ; his daughter, Rhonda H. (Brauner) Wood and her husband Ray of Lohman, Mo. ; three brothers, James Brauner and his wife Judi, Robert Brauner and his wife Sharon all of  Jefferson City, and Donald Brauner and his wife Viola of Portland, Texas ; two sisters, Pauline (Brauner) Herman of Centertown, Mo. and Frances Ann (Brauner) Giboney and her husband Lonnie of Fulton, Mo. ; two grandchildren, Rusty Wood and his wife Alisha of St. Louis, Mo. and Richelle (Wood) Wright and her husband Willie of Tuscumbia, Mo. ; and three great-grandchildren, Kelsie Wright, Koda Wright and Brayden Wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruth Brauner; one son, Russell Brauner; and two daughters, Rayma Brauner and Mary Brauner.
A visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 pm Wednesday, December 1, 2010 with a prayer service to be conducted at 3:30 pm in the Freeman Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12:00 noon Thursday, December 2, 2010 at St. Martins Catholic Church in St. Martins, Mo. with the Reverend Edwin Schmidt and the Reverend Francis Doyle officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Assn.

Mrs. Helen Irene Bunting, age 94 years, of Tebbetts, Mo. passed away Monday, November 29, 2010 at Capital Region Medical Center. .
She was born on August 21, 1916 in an adobe house on the western prairies of Nebraska, the daughter of John Henry and Mary Ellen Lee Jackson. She was married on May 25, 1951 in Reno, Nevada to Carl T. Bunting, who preceded her in death on December 31, 1983.
She was the youngest of her brothers and sisters. Helen was always a tomboy who could ride a horse before she started school and enjoyed helping her brothers trap beaver and muskrat. She went to college in Greely Colorado and later moved to California where she worked as a pipefitter and welder in the shipyards during World War II. She was the only women to do this for the duration of the war. She had an open mind to new ideas and what was fair. She was always brave in doing what she thought was right. Her first and number one interest was her children and family and always encouraged them to be the best that they could be.
A resident of the central Missouri area since 1951, she was employed with the Fulton State Hospital for twenty years prior to her retirement in October, 1978.
Helen was a member of the Tebbetts United Methodist Church and the Fulton Singles Club in Fulton, Mo.
Helen’s passions were crocheting, sewing, and other crafts, gardening, canning and loving her many pets. She also enjoyed spending time with family and working on her genealogy. Survivors include: one daughter, Delores Carlos and her husband Gary of Tebbetts; three sons, Herbert LaVern Hill of St. Louis, Mo., Charles Bunting and his wife Connie of  Jefferson City, Mo. and Bill Bunting of Fulton, Mo. ; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and fifteen great great grandchildren. She is also survived by a foster daughter, Naomi Lloyd and by twenty other foster children that she and Carl helped raise.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Ron Bunting; and four brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Friday, December 3, 2010.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Beth Duckworth officiating. Interment will be at the Riverview Cemetery near Tebbetts, Mo.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Tebbetts United Methodist Church, Tebbetts, Mo.
