Ms. Roxie O. Amend, age 86 years, of Troy, Illinois, formerly of  Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Highland Healthcare Center in Troy, IL.
She was born on June 10, 1924 in  Jefferson City, Mo. a daughter of Aaron E. and Rosa L. Taggart Amend.
Roxie grew up in  Jefferson City, attended  Jefferson City Public Schools and was employed with the International Shoe Factory for several years. In the early 1960’s, she moved to Granite City, Illinois to be closer to her sister, Marjorie “Irene” Leone. She lived with them in Granite City until 1992 when they moved to Collinsville, Illinois. In 2004 her sister, Irene, passed away and she moved to Troy, Illinois to be closer to her nephew, Anthony Leone. A homemaker for the majority of her life, Roxie loved spending time with her family and taking care of them. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed listening to country music.
Survivors include: five nephews, Anthony Leone and his wife Mary of Troy, IL., Paris Amend and his wife Shirley of West Plains, Mo., Kenneth Amend and his wife Dien of  Jefferson City, Mo., Eugene Amend and his wife Brenda of Farmers Branch, TX. and David Amend and his wife Donna of O’Fallon, Mo. ; two nieces, Judith Heinrich and her husband Earl of  Jefferson City, Mo. and Marjorie Sutter and her husband Marty of Florissant, Mo. ; eighteen great nieces and nephews; and nineteen great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marjorie Irene Leone; six brothers, Obie Amend, Jewil Amend, Cecil Amend, Cortez Amend, Paris Amend and Ralph Amend; and one niece, Rachel Fairchild.
A visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 am Saturday, April 23, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at New Hope Cemetery in Marion, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mr. Joseph P. Collins, Jr., age 85 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Villa Marie Nursing Center.
He was born June 30, 1925 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Joseph P. and Phoebe Maud Farmer Collins. At the age of seven, he and his family moved to a farm south of Camdenton, where he grew up. While in high school, he worked as a tour guide at Ha Ha Tonka.
On June 19, 1955, he was united in marriage in Marceline, Mo., to Wilma Jean Klein who survives at the home.
He graduated as valedictorian of his class from Camdenton High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Missouri at Columbia, a Masters degree in education from Lincoln University of  Jefferson City, and did graduate work in music and secondary education from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He also attended workshops for certification in ABE(Adult Basic Education)
Joe began his career in the Eugene Public School from 1950 until 1952, teaching math, social studies, and music. He began teaching in the  Jefferson City Public Schools in 1953 at Simonsen Junior High School. . In 1959, he was appointed assistant principal at Simonsen, becoming principal in 1970. In 1976, he became principal at  Jefferson Junior High School, retiring in 1987 with thirty-seven years of teaching and administration. For twelve years, he taught math and algebra night classes at the Missouri State Penitentiary. He also taught algebra for one semester at Lincoln University. After retirement, he taught in the ABE program. He served in the United States Army in World War II and the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. He received the commendation ribbon with medal pendant for meritorious service for his service in Korea.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in  Jefferson City, serving on the Worship Committee, the Education Committee, the committee to revise the church constitution, was director of the Youth Choir, and served as a lay minister. He was a member of the Chancel Choir for fifty-one years, served as a deacon and elder, and was elected elder emeritus in 1997.
Joe served as President of the  Jefferson City Community Teachers Association, Vice-President and President of the Central Missouri Teachers Association, member of the Missouri State Teachers Association, the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and the Retired Teachers Association. He was chosen the Retired Teacher of the Year in 2002 by the Cole County unit of the Retired Teachers Association, and as the Retired Educator of the Year from Region Seven of Missouri. He was a member of the AARP and the Gideons International.

He loved music and was a member of many music organizations, including the Oratorio Singers, the  Jefferson City Symphony Choir, the Missouri Men’s Glee Club, the University Singers, and the  Jefferson City Cantorum. He appeared in some of the musical productions of the  Jefferson City Little Theatre.
Survivors include: his wife of fifty-five years, Wilma Collins; one daughter, Cynthia Marie Collins of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Irene Muse, and one brother, Kenneth Wayne Collins.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the First Christian Church with the Reverend Donald Carter officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the music program at the First Christian Church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Carolyn Faye Blagg Carroll, age 78 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 at her home.
She was born January 15, 1933, in Liberty, Mo. the daughter of Walter and Faye Cravens Blagg. She grew up in Kansas City, and graduated from Southwest High School. Following graduation, she went West to attend the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
In January of her freshman year at college, she was introduced on a blind date to Robert Calvin Carroll of Clarksville, Mo., who was stationed in the Army in Albuquerque. She married him two months later, on March 8, 1952.
Carolyn was an active volunteer until she suffered a stroke in 2006. She volunteered weekly at Capital Region Medical Center and delivered Meals on Wheels. While living in Hannibal, she was a member of King's Daughters.
She was a member of First Christian Church since moving to  Jefferson City more than 44 years ago, where she was in Mary's Circle.
Carolyn loved traveling with Bob. In addition to the many trips they took as part of his job, they also took numerous trips with good friends. Among her favorite trips were annual pre-Christmas visits to New York City. Prior to each trip, Carolyn researched the newest and trendiest hotels and restaurants to experience. Other favorite trips made with friends included those to Greece and Alaska.
Survivors include: her husband of 59 years, Robert “Bob” Carroll; four children, Christina Oliver, Nanci Gonder and her husband Gary, and Rob Carroll and his wife Erica, all of  Jefferson City, and Julie Weinstock and her husband Ken of Sonoma, Ca. ; four grandchildren, Evan Carroll Harrelson and his fiancee Kim Foulger of Napa, Ca., Logan Reed Oliver, Georgia Faye Gonder and Cameron Robert Carroll, all of  Jefferson City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Junior Blagg.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 6:00 pm Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the First Christian Church with the Reverend Donald Carter officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery.
Carolyn loved her pets, and adopted several cats from Callaway Hills Animal Shelter. For this reason, her family would suggest any memorial contributions to this animal shelter.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Ruth Eleanor Arnold Rosser, age 92 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at the Westphalia Hills Nursing Center.
She was born April 6, 1919, in West Unity, Ohio, the daughter of Frank L. and Ruth L. Money Arnold. She was married on October 4, 1942, in West Unity, Ohio to Duane Gordon “Dutch” Rosser.
She graduated from Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio with a degree in business.
Eleanor and Dutch lived in Lexington, Kentucky from 1948 – 2005 when they moved to  Jefferson City, Missouri. Eleanor taught business courses for one year after graduation, then worked for Willy’s Jeep during World War II. She was the school Secretary at Julia R. Ewan school from 1960-1962 and then taught junior high mathematics at Leestown Junior High School until 1971. She was then Financial Secretary for Southern Hills United Methodist Church until 1981. In her retirement she served as a pink lady at Good Samaritan Hospital. Survivors include: one brother, Robert Arnold of Virginia; one son, Jim Rosser and his wife Zelma King of Red Valley, Arizona; one daughter, Marilyn Hofmann and her husband Jim of  Jefferson City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Tasha Blackburn and her husband Philip, Daren Hofmann and his wife Sarah, Ezra Rosser and his wife Elvia, and Saul Rosser; and five great-grandchildren, Calum and Alena Blackburn, James and Amelia Hofmann, and Mateo Rosser Castro.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 68 years; one brother, Ted Arnold; and one granddaughter, Rachel Rosser.
A service of thanksgiving for her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Southern Hills United Methodist Church in Lexington, Kentucky, with a visitation from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of  Jefferson City, Southern Hills United Methodist Church in Lexington, or the American Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mrs. Ruby Mae Warren, age 95 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., formerly of Springfield, Mo., passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at  Jefferson City Manor Care.
Mrs. Warren was born on June 5, 1915 in Springfield, Mo. the daughter of Curtis and LaUna White Goff. She was married on July 9, 1936 in Springfield, Mo. to Henry Barton Warren, who preceded her in death on February 27, 1998.
A lifelong resident of Springfield area, Ruby was a 1933 graduate of Central High School in Springfield.
She was a homemaker for the majority of her life and loved spending time with her family and taking care of them.
Survivors include: one son, Jon Warren and his wife Jeanne of New Bloomfield, Mo. ; three grandchildren, Sheri Morgan and her husband Josh, Scott Zeller, and Meghan Warren; and two great grandchildren, Kaylee Morgan and Taylor Morgan.
Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, May 2, 2011, at the Eastlawn Cemetery in Springfield, Mo. with the Reverend Dr. Jon Warren officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s and Related Disease Association.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Ms. Shana Roseann Woodall, age 43 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Womens and Childrens Hospital in Columbia, Mo.
Shana was born on January 7, 1968 in Kansas City, Mo. a daughter of Penny Tyler and William C. Woodall, Jr.
She was a 1985 graduate of Havana High School in Havana, Illinois and a 1991 graduate of Dakota County School of Nursing in Rosemount, Minnesota.
Shana was a senior care nurse for over twenty years in Minneapolis, Minnesota before moving to  Jefferson City in August 2010 to be closer to her family. While living in  Jefferson City, she was a server with Colton’s Steakhouse.
She enjoyed music, reading and walking, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include: her mother, Penny Tyler-Papendick of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; one son, Kristopher Woodall of Minneapolis, Mn. ; one daughter, Khadeeja Abdurrab of the home; one granddaughter, Amerie Woodall; one brother, William Woodall and his wife Veronica of Scottsboro, Al. ; her maternal grandparents, Mona and Daniel Ballah of Sedalia, Mo. ; a niece, a nephew, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Woodall Jr.
A celebration of Shana’s Life will be held in the chapel of Hawthorn Memorial Gardens from 10:00 until 11:00 am Monday, May 2, 2011. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Donald C. LaCkore, age 77 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Adams Street Place.
Don was born at home on March 31, 1934 in Breed, Wisconsin, a son of Harold and Gladys Flynn LaCkore. On April 19, 1990 in California, Mo. he married Kathryn Van Landuyt.
A resident of the central Missouri area since 1985, Don graduated from Libertyville High School in Illinois. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952. While in service, he graduated with honors from the noncommissioned officers training school in 1961; he received an academic achievement award, a speech award, and besides stateside duty, he served in Alaska, Korea and Japan.
He was employed with Pan American World Airways from 1963 until 1979. He then worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections as a Programming and Analysts Supervisor to the Office of the Director, until his retirement in 1996.
Don was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as scout leader for 25 years. He was awarded the District Award of Merit 1971-1972 and the Silver Beaver Award in 1972. He was a past member of the Mid Mo Old Car Club, the Military Vehicle Preservation Assc., the Parkinson’s Support Group, and the Four Lakes Golf Club in Florida. Don enjoyed spending his winters in Winter Haven, Florida; writing hundreds of songs over his lifetime, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include: his wife, Katie LaCkore of  Jefferson City; five children, Kip LaCkore, Kristi LaCkore, Kelly Fraser and husband Tom, Kurt LaCkore and wife Tara, and Kerry Llorens and husband Robert; one brother, Jack LaCkore and wife Madeleine; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Duade Hatch.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at his home, 3930 Greenbriar Drive,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65109, from 2:00 until 4:00 pm Saturday, May 7, 2011 and all neighbors, coworkers, and friends are invited to attend. Graveside services and interment will be held at Willow Lawn Cemetery in Vernon Hills, Illinois at a later time.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mrs. Pearl Lee Session, age 57 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at her home.
Pearl was born on June 14, 1953 in Sumner, Mississippi a daughter of Buddy Holmes and Elnora Clark. A resident of the Central Missouri area for the past fourteen years, Pearl attended Solid Rock Family Church and Central Baptist Church. A homemaker, she was always giving and put her family and friends before her. Survivors include: four daughters, Yolanda Ann Session, Aretha Ann Session, Molly Colleen Session and Leeann Session; two brothers, Howard Sallis and Charles Dean Sallis; one sister, Katie Norfolk; three nephews, Tobias, Tokias and Fox; one niece, Ty’ira; six great-nieces; and thirteen grandchildren, Nichole, Demetrius, Jeremiah, Unique, Angel, Josiah, Carliyah, Diamond, Isaiah, Marina, Damisha, Arianna and Micah.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; two brothers, William Thomas Sallis and George Sallis.
A Celebration of Pearl’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Solid Rock Family Church with the Reverend Joe Skiles officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church.
Pearl had a strong faith in the Lord, and devoted her time in serving Him.
