Mr. Robert R. “Bob” Pratt, age 82 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011.
He was born November 8, 1928 in Blytheville, Arkansas the son of L. B. and Ola Ward Pratt. He was married on July 24, 1976 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Eva M. Meredith Ordway.
A nearly lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Bob graduated from Jefferson City High School and the Jefferson City Junior College where he played on the Bears Basketball Team.
Bob was employed with the Public Finance Company in Sedalia and Springfield, Mo. for several years. In 1969, he founded Robert R. Pratt Real Estate Company that he operated for over forty years. From 1972 until 1980, he served as Cole County Public Administrator. In 1980, he branched out into the real estate appraisal business; at that time, he became the Chief Appraiser for Cole County during the time of property reassessment. Bob was the principal of Pratt Appraisal Inc. until he sold the company in 1997 and continued to work for the firm for several more years.
He was one of the longest tenured members of the Jefferson City Board of Realtors and was honored as Outstanding Realtor of the year in 1974. Bob was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a past member of Jefferson City Rotary West, the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers, and the Jefferson Democrat Club. He was selected as the Heart Star of the 2002 Heart Ball/Heart Walk for the American Heart Assn. and has supported other charities and local organizations. Bob moved to Rocky Mount, Mo in 2005 where he continued working in the real estate business. He enjoyed the Lake of the Ozarks area and had planned to eventually retire there. Bob enjoyed going to auctions, restoring homes, and loved dogs. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include: his wife, Eva Pratt; four sons, David Pratt and his wife Louise Saucier of Marys Home, Mo., Dr. Douglas Pratt and his wife Ele Ibarra-Pratt of Kensington, Maryland, William Pratt and his wife Karen King of Columbia, Mo., and Dennis Pratt and his wife Cindy of Rowlett, Texas ; one daughter, Amy Bernskoetter and her husband, Ron of Jefferson City, Mo. ; four step sons, Frederick Ordway and his wife Nancy Ellis-Ordway, of Jefferson City, Mo. Greg Ordway and his wife Linda of Columbia, Mo., Jeffrey Ordway and his wife Connie of Harbor City, California, and Shawn Ordway and his wife Nancy of Jefferson City, Mo., two step daughters, Jean Weidmaier and her husband Rob of Platte City, Mo and Charlene Wolf and her husband James of El Paso, Texas ; thirty-seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Frances Rose Pratt Goodlin in 2007; and one brother, Bill Pratt.
A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 until 4:00 PM, Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Truman Hotel, 1510 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, Mo. Private graveside services and interment will be conducted at Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Assn. or the American Cancer Society.

Pastor Walter B. Price, age 94 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Adams Street Nursing Center.
Walter was born December 22, 1916 in Greenville, Mississippi a son of Andrew J. and Alta Bourne Price. He was married on December 9, 1945 in Longmont, Colorado to Lois M. Baker who preceded him in death on November 15, 1989.
Walter received a Masters in Divinity from the Colgate Rochester School of Divinity in Rochester, New York.
He was employed as the Executive Director with the Berrien County Council of Church in St. Joseph, Michigan from 1950 until 1964. From 1965 until 1977, he was the Executive Director of the Missouri Council of Church in Jefferson City. He also served as an interim pastor for many churches in the Central Missouri area.
He was a member of the Central United Church of Christ. Walter enjoy gardening, camping, traveling and the outdoors.
Survivors include: two daughters, Candace Lee Cheung and her husband Chi of Jefferson City, Mo. and Rebecca Epen Farley and her husband Terrance of Jefferson City, Mo. ; and three grandchildren, Erica Farley, Jeremy Cheung and Andrea Cheung.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be held at the Central United Church of Christ from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Saturday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Central United Church of Christ with the Reverend Dr. Stephen Buchholz officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Central United Church of Christ.

Mr. Paul Marvin Pack, age 73 years, a former Jefferson City resident, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Four Seasons Nursing Center, Sedalia, Mo.
Marvin was born July 1, 1937 in Chamois, Mo. the son of Paul Henry and Virginia Thompson Pack.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Marvin was employed with the Tweedie Footwear Factory, with the Fausell Cleaners, and later with Tergin Cleaners.
Marvin attended Solid Rock Church. He enjoyed playing the piano and organ and collecting kerosene lamps.
Survivors include: three sisters, Geneva Sontag of Morrison, Mo., Viola Sanders of Stockbridge, Georgia, and Myrna Smith and her husband Leonard of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one brother, Elston Pack and his wife Gloria of Parkville, Mo; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, LaVerne Rice and Helen Rippstein.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Friday, May 27, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, May 27, 2011 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Lowell Perkins officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Edward M. Shock, age 89 years, of California, Mo., died Monday, May 30, 2011 at his home.
Edward was born July 9, 1921 on a farm three miles south of Hinton, Mo. the son of Frank Lee and Alma N. Samuels Shock. He was married in the home of Rev. J. Bryson in Columbia, Mo. on November 27, 1942 to Geneva Bishop.
Edward served in the United States Army during World War II. He served in General George C. Patton’s Ghost Corp, a special unit of Forward Observers. He saw action in Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and the Ardennes for which his company earned five bronze stars in those campaigns.
After being discharged from the Army, he returned to his carpentry trade, building houses in Central Missouri.
He was a member of a non-denominational Christian Church in Jefferson City, Mo. . He was also a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5 and the United Commercial Travelers, a fraternal organization working with the Sheltered Workshop and various cancer organizations. Survivors include: his wife of sixty-eight years, Geneva Shock; four daughters, Edwena Shock of California, Mo., Vivian Whitney of Jefferson City, Mo., Patricia Crane and her husband Tiry of Russellville, Mo., and Linda Matteson and her husband Joseph of Columbia, Mo. ; four grandchildren, Brad O’Neal and his wife Susan of Marshall, Mo., Stephanie Beck and her husband Brian of San Diego, California, Cory Whitney and his wife Laura of Lenexa, Kansas, and Tiry Crane II and his wife Dana of Cabot, Arkansas; four great grandchildren; one sister, Sue Fenton of Columbia, Mo. ; two brothers, Francis Shock and his wife Shirley of Ashland, Mo. and Charles Shock of Kansas City, Mo; beloved sisters-in-law, Virginia Williamson of Holts Summit, Mo. and Juanita Bishop of Columbia, Mo. ; one brother-in-law Ray Bishop and his wife Rosemary of Centertown, Mo. ; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Shock of Columbia, Mo. and Lawrence Shock of Springfield, Mo. ; two infant brothers; and two brothers-in-law, Edward Bishop and Melvin Williamson.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday, June 2, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Friday, June 3, 2011 in the Freeman Chapel with Tom Davis, Jon Knochenmus and Robert Eberhardt officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday at the Grandview Cemetery near Murry, Mo.

Mr. Charles E. Bledsoe, age 77 years, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 at Villa Marie.
Chuck was born on May 26, 1934 in Richmond Hills, Illinois the son of George W. and Nettie Chinny Bledsoe.
He was employed as a truck driver in Kansas City, Mo. for over fifteen years and after retirement moved to the Jefferson City area. He has lived in Jefferson City with friends since 1995.
Chuck was a member of the Baptist faith and loved walking outdoors, listening to country music, watching western movies, and fishing with friends. Survivors include: his girlfriend, Gail Gannon of Jefferson City, Mo. ; and good friends, Paulette Todd and Kenneth Todd both of Russellville, Mo. and Adam Gannon of Chillicothe, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be at Longview Cemetery from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Saturday, June 25, 2011 wtih graveside services and interment to be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday at Longview Cemetery.

Mrs. JoAnn Oehrke, age 81 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at her home.
JoAnn was born November 23, 1929 in Florence, Mo. the daughter of John S. and Lorena L. Lemke Daniels. She was married on August 11, 1950 in Smithton, Mo. to Gail D. Oehrke who preceded her in death on July 10, 2006.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, JoAnn graduated from Smithton High School, Smithton, Mo.
A homemaker, JoAnn had been employed as a bookkeeper for several businesses.
She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, and reading.
Survivors include: two sons, Timothy C. Oehrke of Owensville, Mo. and Eric W. Oehrke and his wife Diana of Boise, Idaho; and one grandson, Jeremy C. Oehrke of Columbia, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be at the Wesley United Methodist Church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 7, 2011.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 7, 2011 the Wesley United Methodist Church with the Reverend Anselm Williams officiating. Private graveside services and entombment will be at the Mausoleum of Riverview Cemetery.

Mrs. Dorothy B. Hager, age 93 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Heisinger Bluffs.
Dorothy was born October 3, 1917 in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Bartholomew W. and Rose A. Nacy Keown. She was married on October 17, 1939 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Harvey H. Hager who preceded her in death on August 9, 1979.
A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Dorothy graduated from St. Peter School.
Dorothy was a loving wife and mother whose smile would light up the room. Her decorating ability brought joy to many. She was a loving, giving person who will be missed. She was a member of St. Peter Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Lynne Rose Sell of Overland Park, Kansas and Janis Ann Bacon and her husband Thomas of Melba, Idaho; one son, Vance “Bart” Hager of Springfield, Mo; one brother, Marvin J. Keown and his wife Ruth of Jefferson City, Mo. ; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, two sisters, and one grandson.
Visitation will be at St. Peter Church from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Friday, June 3, 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, June 3, 2011 at St. Peter Church with the Reverend David Maher officiating. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.

Mrs. Betty Jean Lynes, age 72 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011 at St. Marys Health Center.
Betty was born January 20, 1939 in Osage County, Mo. the daughter of Harry and Alice Townley Starke. She was married on October 10, 1959 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Jimmie Lynes.
Betty worked for the State of Missouri for thirty-five years including the Department of Revenue and Labor and Industrial Relations. Betty worked for the Missouri Dept. of Transportation for twenty-eight years in the Central Office Division of Survey and Plans; Internal Review, Audits and Systems; Personnel; Equipment and Procurement and when she retired in 1996, was the Administrative Secretary to the Commission. She was the engineer and founder of the Care Leave Program.
She was an avid Cardinal fan and loved to collect antiques and go to flea markets. She was a talented baker and enjoyed cooking for her family. Her favorite saying was “Life is only as difficult as you make it”.
No one fits the definition of love found in 1 Corinthians 13 more than Betty. Betty was patient, Betty was kind. She did not envy; she did not boast; she was not proud. She was never rude; she was not self-seeking. She was not easily angered, and she kept no record of wrongs. Betty did not delight in evil, but rejoiced with the truth. She always protected her family and friends, always trusted in the Lord and others, always hoped, and always persevered. To all who knew her, Betty was love. Survivors include: her husband of fifty-two years, Jimmie Lynes; one daughter, Karla Hefele and her husband Mike of Fenton, Mo. ; two grandchildren, Madeline Hefele and Evan Hefele; niece, Debbie Adrian and her husband Gary of Jefferson City, Mo. ; her sister, Mary Alice St. Charles of the state of California; three great nieces, Terra Adrian, Carlie Adrian and Jenna Lueckenhoff and her husband Kyle.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alice and Harry Starke; her sister, Bonnie Loveall; her brothers, Donald Starke and Junior Starke.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Monday, June 6, 2011 with a prayer service to be conducted at 3:30 PM in the Freeman Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in the Freeman Chapel. Graveside services and interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Boone County, Mo.
