Dean L. Jones, age 90, of  Jefferson City, Mo. left his world on Thursday, June 16, 2011.
He was born on February 14, 1921 to David Jonathan Jones and Esther (Murlin) Jones in Cherokee,  Oklahoma. He was married on September 29, 1946 to Beverly Harden, who preceded him in death in 1994.
Prior to World War II, he served with an artillery battery in the  Oklahoma National Guard. Upon the declaration of war, he joined the Army Air Corps and served as a ground crew chief in England and France with the 642nd Squadron under the 409th Bombardment Group (Light) with the 9th Air Force. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
After being honorably discharged, he was employed as a meat cutter in Waynoka,  Oklahoma. His long-term hearing loss made it difficult for him to serve his customers and to hear his newborn daughter. At the urging of his wife, Dean obtained a Beltone Hearing Aid that subsequently changed his life. Shortly thereafter he took a position as a Beltone Hearing Aid field representative and did very well. He and Beverly moved to  Jefferson City in 1956, to start their own Beltone practice, Beltone Hearing Service (now known as Jones Beltone Hearing Center). Together they built it into a highly successful practice that is now operated by their two sons. He earned several awards from Beltone over the years, included the President’s Cup for the Outstanding North American Dealer in 1976.
Dean took great pleasure in time with family, Big Band Era music, fishing, evenings at the Eagles Club, and Cardinals Baseball. In his later years, he developed a close friendship with Cay Harden of Oakley, Kansas.
Survivors include: his children, Missy Frink (Sam) of Hermann, Mo., David Jones (Maggie) of Hallsville, Mo., and Jim Jones (Diane) of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three half brothers, Paul, Kenneth, and Charles Bodine; and one daughter, Rebecca Jones.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Sunday, June 19, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, June 20, 2011 at First Christian Church with the Reverend Larry Veatch officiating. Graveside services and entombment with military honors will be held at the Mausoleum of Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those desiring may make memorials contributions to the Salvation Army; Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation; or First Christian Church of  Jefferson City.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mrs. Velma J. Ellsworth, age 60 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo. died Friday, June 17, 2011 at the University Hospital, Columbia, Mo.
Velma was born August 20, 1950 in Portland, Mo. the daughter of Joseph and Lillie Opal Maddox Polacek. She was married on August 24, 1972 in Miami,  Oklahoma to John E. Ellsworth, who preceded her in death on January 10, 2010.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Velma graduated from South Callaway High School.
While she was attending college at William Woods, she was employed with her mother at the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton, Mo. Later, she operated a home day care center for twenty years. After her children were raised, she went to work for the Missouri Dept. of Corrections and later retired as the office manager for Taylor Realty.
Velma was a member of the First Assembly of God; was a volunteer with the Parents as Teachers Program at Cole County R-5 in Eugene; and played the piano at many nursing homes.
She enjoyed cooking, but most importantly, she loved her children, grandchildren, and time with her sisters. Velma was very devoted to her faith.
Survivors include: three sons, Kevin Ellsworth and his wife Tina of Columbia, Mo, John “Jay” Ellsworth and his wife Jennifer of Eugene, Mo., and Joe Ellsworth and his fiancée Sara Atkins of Holts Summit, Mo. ; one daughter, Lillian Kinard and her husband Jerry of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; one step son, Stanley Ellsworth and his wife Denise of Green Castle, Mo. ; three sisters, Betty Harmes and her husband Gene of Belton, Mo., Myrtle Gibbs and her husband Kenneth of Columbia, Mo., and Merl Goff of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; one brother, James Polacek and his wife Alva of Fulton, Mo. ; thirteen grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and one brother-in-law, Carl Goff Sr. .
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 pm Monday, June 20, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the First Assembly of God with the Reverend Lowell Perkins officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at Summit Memorial Park Cemetery, Holts Summit, Mo.
Those desiring may make memorials contributions to First Assembly of God or Ellis-Fischel Cancer Center, Columbia, Mo.

Mrs. Margaret Corliss “Billie” Railton, age 95 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, June 17, 2011 at her home.
Billie was born August 12, 1915 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the daughter of Robert E. and Clara Sparks Corliss. After the death of her father, her mother remarried and Billie took her stepfather’s last name, Sigafoo. On April 7, 1957 in Tulsa,  Oklahoma, she married Frank Railton who preceded her in death on July 31, 1992.
Billie was a resident of the  Jefferson City area since 1945. Before her marriage, she was the Youth Director in the First Presbyterian Church in  Jefferson City, Mo., and the Presbyterian Churches in Casper, Wyoming and Tulsa,  Oklahoma.
She was a well known and highly regarded public speaker. She was frequently called upon to speak at many state convention meetings of various educational-religious and civic groups meeting in  Jefferson City and surrounding states.
Not only was Billie noted for her inspirational talks but she also did book reviews, both serious and humorous ones.
Perhaps she was most noted for the presentations of special programs at Christmas and Easter and she was much sought after by various groups to give programs. For several years, in the weeks preceding Christmas and Easter, she presented a daily radio program of original meditations.
In addition to her public speaking, Billie was an active civic and church worker. She served as the first Volunteer Service Chairman of Memorial Community Hospital, and also served as President of the Hospital Auxiliary.
Billie was extremely generous with her time and resources, making major donations to the Miller Performing Arts Center and funding the Railton Teacher of the Year though the  Jefferson City Public Schools Foundation.
For many years, she taught a Bible Study group at the First Presbyterian Church of which she was a member. She received an Honorary Lifetime Membership in the Presbyterian Women and was elected a “Woman of Distinction” in the Presbyterian Church.
In 1968, Billie was elected a Woman of Achievement in  Jefferson City. She was a member of the Chapter BW, P. E. O. and a member of the Century Study Club.
Billie was also the author of several Lenten Meditations which have been published in magazines of national distinction. She was also the author of “Bible Portraits” which she frequently presented to groups here and other state meetings of Presbyterian and other denominations. In 2003, she published the book “As We Were”, self portraits of Biblical Characters.
Survivors include: one sister, Nancy Vaughan and her husband Trevor William of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews including Nonie Knaus, Trevor William Vaughan, III, and Mark Graham Vaughan and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Lloyd Sigafoo.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 22, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Robert Erickson officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.
Those desiring may make memorials contributions to the First Presbyterian Church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mr. Emil N. Sosa, age 102 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, Mo.
Emil was born on August 8, 1908 in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico the son of Jose Galo and Candida Chin Sosa.
Emil arrived in the United States on October 1, 1926, to study for the priesthood at Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis, Mo. Eventually, he left the seminary and without benefit of knowing the language set out to make a life for himself in his adopted country. He worked at various fields including as an undertaker, an elevator operator and an orderly in a hospital studying at night. He became a United States citizen on January 2, 1942. He served in the United States Army as a Surgical Technician from 1941 until 1945 serving in New Guinea, the Philippines and other southwest Pacific areas. He received two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and a Purple Heart for his efforts in World War II. He also served in the Army Reserve from 1945 until 1948. After serving his country in World War II, he graduated from St. Louis University and Lincoln University with a degree in chemistry. Before moving to  Jefferson City, he was in charge of the laboratory at Bethesda General Hospital of St. Louis.
A resident of  Jefferson City since 1955, Emil was employed as a chemist for the State of Missouri for over twenty years retiring in October 1976.
He was a member of the Catholic faith; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003; Disabled American Veterans, Oliver Buehrle #17; Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 2693; American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; Military Order of the Cootie, and La Societe Des 40 Hommes Et 8 Chevaux.
Emil enjoyed Latin dancing, music, fishing and having a few beers around the barbeque grill with his many friends. He was a devoted friend to all who knew him and selflessly dedicated his life to family, friends and veterans who needed assistance.
Survivors include: his daughter, Dorothy Candida Wofford; and his sister, Juana Maria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his dear friend of 45 years, Dorothy Jane Wilson; and eight brothers and sisters, Emiliano, Buenaventura, Mariano, María, Tomasa, Margarita, Pastora and Jose Dionisio.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 2:00 until 3:00 pm Tuesday, June 21, 2011.
Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at 3:30 pm Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Compassus at 600 Monroe Street Suite 100,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65101.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mr. Nelse Addison, Jr., age 87 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the  Jefferson City Manor Care Center.
Nelse was born April 9, 1924 in  Jefferson City, Mo. the son of Nelse, Sr. and Elsie Addison. He was married on November 6, 1943 in Orlando, Florida to Helen L. “Honey” Thurston who preceded him in death on October 29, 1999.
A lifelong resident of the  Jefferson City area, Nelse was a 1942 graduate of  Jefferson City High School.
He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines and Japan.
Nelse was employed with Missouri Power and Light and later Ameren for over forty-three years.
He was a member of the United Sportsman’s Club.
Survivors include: one daughter, Susan Hope Greco of San Francisco, California; one sister, Rosemary Nixon of St. Louis, Mo. ; and one sister-in-law, Bette Scott of  Jefferson City, Mo.
A private family memorial service will be conducted. Private interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.
Those desiring may make memorials contributions to the charity of their choice.

Michael Maurice Fischer, age 63 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo. died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, surrounded by his family at his home of complications from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Mike was born December 28, 1947, in Boonville, the son of Maurice and Theresa Schmitt Fischer, both of whom survive in Sedalia. He was married on August 25, 1973, in Sedalia to Patricia George, who survives at the home.
Mike entered the University of Central Missouri after graduating from Sacred Heart High School in Sedalia. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy after his freshman year and served four years as a fireman and dental technician. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Warrensburg and completed both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Central Missouri State University.
He was employed by John Deere in Moline, Illinois, and returned to central Missouri to operate the John Deere dealership in Versailles. After he sold the dealership, he came to work for the Missouri Department of Conservation in  Jefferson City. He retired from Sentry Insurance and the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association.
He enjoyed entertaining family and friends and spending time with his grandson Lain. He was eagerly awaiting the birth of his granddaughter Stella Josephine Adrian.
Other survivors include: one son, Matt Fischer of Columbia; one daughter, Kelly Adrian and her husband Joe of  Jefferson City; one grandson, Lain Michael Strope of  Jefferson City; four siblings, Marilyn Arnold and her husband Jack, Judith Jackson and her husband Steve, and James Fischer, all of Sedalia; and Michelle Eiken and her husband Randy of  Jefferson City; and twelve nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Waggoner.
Visitation will be held at the Cathedral of St. Joseph from 10:00 until 12:00 noon Saturday, June 25, 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12:00 noon Saturday at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with Monsignor Robert Kurwicki officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Cathedral School, Sacred Heart School Foundation in Sedalia or to the ALS Association.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mr. Kenneth A. Kerr, age 50 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., formerly of Russellville, Mo. passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011 after an automobile accident.
Kenny was born August 31, 1960 in Kansas City, Mo. a son of Merle E. and Elsie M. Patterson Kerr. He was married on October 22, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Dorothy B. Rutledge after being lifelong partners for seventeen years prior to being married.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Kenny was a 1978 graduate of Russellville High School.
He was a journeyman electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 257 for over twenty years. He has worked at the University of Missouri as an electrician for the last two years of his career.
Kenny was a member of Corticelli Baptist Church in Russellville, Mo.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, hunting, and fishing; but most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and children. He enjoyed helping his son with the Awanas and Cub Scouts. His kids will always have fond memories of him dancing to their favorite songs and riding bikes on the Katy Trail.
Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Kerr; one son, Jimmy Lee Kerr of the home; two daughters, Chrissy Roberson and her husband Jay of  Jefferson City, Mo. and Susan Marie Kerr of the home; two sisters, Betty Bond and Shirley Crawford of Alabama; three brothers, Wayne Kerr and his wife Pat of  Jefferson City, Mo., Delbert “Bud” Kerr and his wife Rita of Russellville, Mo., and Jerry Kerr and his wife JoAnn of Russellville, Mo. ; four grandchildren, Gavin Roberson, James Roberson, Jaylynn Roberson, and Baylee Roberson; and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bob Kerr; and one sister, Brenda Shehorn.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Monday, June 27, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the Corticelli Baptist Church, 57731 Hwy C, Russellville, Mo., with the Reverend Ryan Stiffler officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at Riverview Cemetery in  Jefferson City, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Kerr Children’s Educational Fund.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
