Mr. Billy Eugene Holt, age 77 years, formerly of  Jefferson City, MO. passed away Sunday July 3, 2011 in Pensacola, FL.
He was born on February 17, 1934 in Buchanan County, MO a son of Charles and Marie Wright Holt. In December 1955 he was united in marriage to Mary Katherine Steele, who preceded him in death. On February 3, 1975 Billy was united in marriage to Jeanie Holt who survives.
Billy joined the United States Marine Corp in Kansas City, Mo. in October 1953 and served in Korea. He was a member of the Army National Guard for 17 years. Billy worked for the  Louisiana Department of Corrections and the Missouri Department of Corrections for a total of 35 years.
Billy was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and gunsmithing. He was a Boy Scout Leader for many years.
Billy is survived by two daughters, Lori Holt of Navarre, FL and Diana Hickman of Biloxi, MS; three sons, Jackie Holt of Holts Summit, Brian Holt of  Jefferson City and Phillip Holt of Biloxi, MS; one sister, Alta Sadler of National City, CA; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Lisa Kay Holt and Pamela Messer; two brothers, Charles Robert Holt and Donald Lee Holt; and one sister, Mary Alice Wells.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Dorothy Roberteen Katherine “Bobbie” Nail Ketchum, age 89 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo. passed away July 9, 2011 at North Kansas City Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
Bobbie was born on October 1, 1921 in California, Mo. a daughter of Lone and Grace Melton Manning. She was married in 1938 in California, Mo. to Harry Nail, who preceded her in death in 1969. On September 20, 1980, she married Hollis Ketchum in  Jefferson City, who preceded her in death in March 5, 2000.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Bobbie graduated from California High School in California, Mo.
She owned and operated the Southside IGA with her husband, Harry, and was later employed with JCPenney and the City of  Jefferson in the City Clerk’s Office for ten years prior to her retirement in 1980. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, square dancing, and cards; but most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include: three daughters, Patricia Nail Stokes and her husband Stephen of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Jackie Soltys and her husband Craig of Raytown, Mo. and Shirley Geiser and her husband Robert of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; two sons, Dr. Roger Nail and his wife Peggy of Lake Quivira, Kansas and Randal Ketchum and his wife Alicia of Blue Springs, Mo. ; one sister, Doris Morgan of Nebraska; and seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and four brothers, Fordyce Manning, Deward Manning, Harvey Manning, and Robert Manning.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Sunday, July 17, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mrs. Ernestine Wilbers, age 83 years, of Rocky Mount, Mo. peacefully passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the  Jefferson City Manor Care Center.
Ernestine was born on November 19, 1927 in  Jefferson City, Mo. the daughter of Adie and Mildred Boone Estes. She was married on January 27, 1973 in  Jefferson City, Mo. to Frank F. “Butch” Wilbers, who preceded her in death on August 10, 2007.
Ernestine and Butch owned and operated Capital City Window Cleaning Company. In her leisure time, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family, fishing and boating on the Lake of the Ozarks. Survivors include: her daughter, Diana (Marv) Pilgrim of Bluffton, South Carolina; two sons, Nobert Hohm II and Michael (Crystal) Hohm of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; eight grandchildren, Todd Rustman, Chris Rustman, Zachary Fletcher, Taylor Hohm, Ryan Hohm, Austin Hohm, Alyssa Hohm, and Blaze Hohm; and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 20, 2011.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Freeman Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Compassus or the American Lung Association.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mr. James A. Mercer, age 65 years, of Holts Summit, Mo. passed away Monday, July 18, 2011 at St. Mary’s Health Center.
He was born on December 2, 1945 in Valley Park, Mo. a son of Esco and Pauletta Tredway Mercer. He was married on July 7, 1978 in Sullivan, Mo. to Lorena Dillion.
A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, James was a truck driver for various companies, retiring in 2006 from Drinkard Trucking.
James served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, fishing, and shooting guns. Survivors include: his wife, Lorena Mercer; four sons, Gary Wilson and his friend, Betty Higgins of Tebbetts, Mo., John Bilyeu of Taos, Mo., Randy Mercer and Ronnie Mercer; one daughter, Tama Bratton and her husband Bill of Holts Summit, Mo. ; one brother, Richard Mercer and his wife Cheryl of West Plains, Mo. ; one sister, Linda Christianson of Arizona; nine grandchildren, Ciera Bratton, Chris Turner, Shane Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Aaron Wilson, Shannon Bilyeu, Mason Bilyeu, Mike Kallenbach and Michelle Hieslen; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death his parents.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Wednesday, July 20, 2011.
A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Wednesday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend John Harris officiating. Private graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Assn.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mr. Kenneth L. Honse, age 74 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at his home surrounded by family.
He was born on April 3, 1937 in Vienna, Mo., a son of Willard and Lucy Ragan Honse. He was married on November 2, 1957 in Maplewood, Mo. to Anita Branson, who survives at their home.
Kenny was a 1954 graduate of Vienna High School and a member of the Missouri National Guard.
He was a fifty year member of the Local 513 Operating Engineers in St. Louis, Mo. as a heavy equipment operator. In 1978, he was hired as the first crane operator at the Callaway Nuclear Plant. He retired from Local 513 due to ill health in 1992. Kenny was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, the Gasconade River, and deer camp. He also liked to read and keep up with the news; but most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, especially on their farm in Vienna. Survivors include: his bride of 53 years, Anita Honse; son, Kenneth Honse and his wife Sharon of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; daughters, Konny Schaeffer and her husband John of Lake St. Louis, Mo. and Susan Kneeskern and her husband Dean of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; brothers, David Honse and his wife Judy of Vienna, Mo. and Michael Honse and his wife Ann of O’Fallon, Mo. ; sister, June Wilson and her husband C. J. of Dellwood, Mo. ; seven grandchildren, Juston Honse, Bill Plank and his wife Beth, Clay Schaeffer, Austin Kneeskern, Janae Sapp and her husband Ben, Christina Schaeffer and Jenie Honse; three great-grandchildren, Jaden Honse, Madison Honse and Will Plank.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Goldene Workman, Elizabeth Arthur and Ruth Ray Woods; one brother, John Honse; and one nephew, Jeff Wilson.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday, July 21, 2011 and from 10:00 until 11:00 am Friday at the First United Methodist Church in  Jefferson City.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, July 22, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in  Jefferson City with the Reverend Daniel Hilty officiating.

Mr. Stanley Chris Swicord, age 63 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, July 22, 2011 at the University Hospital, Columbia, Mo.
Chris was born December 25, 1947 in Portland, Oregon the son of Allen R. and Geraldine Noah Swicord.
Chris was a 1966 graduate of Whitehaven High School, Memphis, Tennessee. He enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and Puerto Rico.
He was employed at the Callaway Nuclear Power Plant for several years. He was then employed with the Missouri Dept. of Corrections for twenty-seven years prior to his retirement in January, 2009.
He enjoyed Cardinal baseball, coaching Babe Ruth baseball, playing cards, and woodworking. Chris loved music and earlier in life sang in the church choir and for a time, played in the handbell choir at First United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader and enjoyed his annual camping and float trips with friends. Following retirement, he loved his dog, Rascal. Most importantly, he enjoyed time with his family and friends. Chris is most remembered for his generosity to others, and in the end, gave the ultimate gift of life by being an organ donor. Survivors include: one sister, Cheryl Bodenhamer and her husband Dr. Fred Bodenhamer of  Jefferson City, Mo. ; three nieces and nephews, Laura Landwehr and her husband Louis, Dr. Sally Bodenhamer, and Dr. Bret Bodenhamer, all of  Jefferson City, Mo., and two great nieces, Natalie Landwehr and Nicole Landwehr.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:30 until 6:00 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2011.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2011 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Daniel Hilty officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Assn.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mrs. Reba Fern Schlottmann, age 93 years, of Holts Summit, Mo., a former resident of Springfield, Mo. died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Summit Villa Care Center.
She was born on November 5, 1917 in Clever, Mo. the daughter of Jasper and Ruth Whitesal Ghan. She was married to Frank W. Schlottmann, who preceded her in death in November of 1968.
Private graveside services and interment will be held at Springfield National Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mrs. Sharon P. Holtmeyer, age 59 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Capital Region Medical Center.
Sharon was born on May 16, 1952 in  Jefferson City, Mo. a daughter of Louie and Peggy Hilgert Patterson. She was married on August 30, 1975 in  Jefferson City, Mo. to Lawrence R. Holtmeyer, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of the  Jefferson City area, Sharon was a 1970 graduate of  Jefferson City High School.
She was employed with the Missouri Department of Revenue for thirty years until ill health forced her retirement in 2002.
Sharon was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Wyman S. Basinger Post 35. She enjoyed games on her computer, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her family, especially playing Bingo with them.
Survivors include: her husband of thirty-five years, Lawrence Holtmeyer; one sister, Beverly Coleman and her significant other Ron Fennewald of  Jefferson City; two brothers, Danny Patterson and his wife Joyce of St. Martins and Ronald Patterson and his wife Therese of  Jefferson City; her mother-in-law, Ruby Holtmeyer; five brothers-in-law, Frank Holtmeyer and his wife Laverne, Joel Holtmeyer and his wife Diane, Sim Holtmeyer and his wife Rosemary, Harry Holtmeyer, and Johnny Holtmeyer; three sisters-in-law, Dee Boys and her husband Don, Donna Cook and her husband Bud, and Alice Holtmeyer; thirteen nephews, six nieces, and one great nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles David Patterson; one infant sister, Peggy Sue Patterson; her father-in-law, Frank Holtmeyer, Sr. ; and one brother-in-law, Robert J. Holtmeyer.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 am Friday, July 29, 2011.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Terry Hanmore officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Hospice Compassus.

Catherine Josephine Veit Mulhall, age 75 years, of Wardsville, Mo. passed away from cancer on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Adams Street Place, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church.
She was born on March 7, 1936 in Osage Bend, Mo., a daughter of the late Clarence Albert and Anna Frances Mertens Veit. Catherine was married on December 31, 1970 in St. Charles, Mo., to Lawrence Edward Mulhall. She was married to Larry for 32 years until his death on December 10, 2003.
Catherine graduated in 1954 from St. Peter's Catholic High School. She received a teaching certificate and taught school at Osage Bend; St. Thomas; and Immaculate Conception Catholic School in  Jefferson City. After teaching, she worked eighteen years for the Department of Health and Welfare and the Department of Revenue. Her husband's cable installation business took her to live in California, Ohio, Delaware, Florida and  Louisiana. She was a custodian for Blair Oaks School in Wardsville for ten years, where students remember her for her homemade cookies. After coming back home to Osage Bend she became a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. She stayed and helped her aging parents and later, she cared for her husband until he passed away from an extended illness.
Some of her favorite things to do were sewing for family, quilt making with her sister, gardening, twenty years of Holy Hours in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville, playing slot machines, scratch-off tickets and spending time visiting with her family and friends. After several hurricanes in  Louisiana, possessions became less important to her, she lived simply and was always donating to various charities.
All of her family and friends will miss her warm caring nature and her witty sense of humor.
Survivors include: three brothers and one sister, Clarence (Dorothy) Veit Jr. of  Jefferson City, Mo.; Mary Ann (Tom) Schmidt of Florissant, Mo; Albert (Marlene) Veit of St. Charles, Mo. ; Stan (Charlotte) Veit of Osage Bend, Mo.; one sister-in-law: Joyce Veit of Florissant, Mo.; beloved aunt of thirty nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews; and many dear cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Quentin Veit and Rod Veit and his wife Rose.
Visitation will be held at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Osage Bend from 10:00 until 11:00 am Saturday, August 6, 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday at St. Margaret Catholic Church with the Reverend David Veit officiating. Interment will be at St. Margaret Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
