Mrs. Jackie R. Bivens, age 66 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. Mary’s Health Center.
Jackie was born March 5, 1945 in Lubbock, Texas the daughter of Samuel O. and Dora Ruth Fenton Liston.
A resident of the  Jefferson City area since 1970, Jackie was employed with the Missouri Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education for many years. After retirement, she was employed with the  Jefferson City Public Schools in the Adult Basic Literacy Education Dept.
Survivors include: one brother, Jim Liston and his wife Judy of Blue Springs, Mo.; her longtime friend, Marty Bunch of  Jefferson City, Mo.; one niece, Teresa Sperry of Grain Valley, Mo.; one nephew, Sam Liston of Oak Grove, Mo.; and two great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Tammy R. Bivens on October 16, 1993.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 14, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Jon Warren officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the charity of their choice.

Mrs. Oma P. Vaughan, age 93 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday, September 12, 2011 at the  Jefferson City Manor Care Center.
She was born on May 8, 1918 in Meta, Mo. the daughter of Jessie F. and Iva C. Hawk Pendleton. She was married on March 2, 1935 in Waynesville, Mo. to Willard Vaughan who preceded her in death on February 26, 1990.
Oma was employed with Tweedie Footwear Factory for many years and later as Administrator of Capital Avenue Nursing Home.
She was a member of First Christian Church in  Jefferson City and in later years attended Campground Christian in Van Cleve, Mo. and Humphreys Creek Church. Survivors include: two daughters, Carolyn L. Goff and her husband James of  Jefferson City, Mo. and Patty A. Sandbothe of  Jefferson City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Mitch Goff, Tammy Giesing and her husband Les, Tracy Vaughan, Bridgette Vinyard, Steven Vaughan and his wife Nan, Ricky Vaughan and his wife Cynthia, and Casey Walker; eleven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Willard Earl Vaughan and Donnie Ray Vaughan; two sisters, Lillie Tennyson and Opal Hagans; and one brother, Dossie Pendleton.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Thursday, September 15, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 15, 2011 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Lyle Witcher officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Mr. Richard L. Branstetter, age 91 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday, September 19, 2011 at his home.
Richard was born January 13, 1920 in Pike County, Mo. the son of William H. and Bernice Jenkins Branstetter. He was married on August 4, 1941 in New London, Mo. to Jean Teague.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Richard served in the United States Army during World War II serving with the 138th Infantry in the Aleutians and Central Europe as an automatic rifleman. For his service, he was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon, and the European-African- Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon.
Richard was employed as an electrician with Stokes Electric for many years and later retired from the Callaway Nuclear Plant in 1982.
He was a member, deacon, elder, and trustee of the First Presbyterian Church; a sixty-four year member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 257. Survivors include: his wife of seventy years, Jean Branstetter; two sons, Richard Lee Branstetter and his wife Betsy of  Jefferson City, Mo. and John Edwin Branstetter and his wife Nancy of Highland, Michigan; one daughter, Peggy Jean Snell and her husband Jim of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Bill Branstetter and his wife Sara of San Antonio, Texas , Sunny Branstetter of  Jefferson City, Mo., Johnny Branstetter of Brighton, Michigan,, Lauren Branstetter of Highland, Michigan, Michael Bregenzer of Richmond, Texas , Kristen Hensley and her husband Matt of Sullivan, Mo., and Aaron Snell and his wife Holly of McKinney, Texas ; ten great grandchildren, Kate Branstetter, Ben Branstetter, Kaitlyn Bregenzer, Kendall Bregenzer, Courtney Hensley, Brooklyn Hensley, Taylor Hensley, Emma Snell, Malachi Snell, and Ava Snell; four brothers, David Branstetter, Randall Branstetter, Jim Branstetter and his wife Carol, and Jack Branstetter; and one sister-in-law, Fran Branstetter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, and one grandson.
Visitation will be at the First Presbyterian Church from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Thursday, September 22, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Robert Erickson and the Reverend Dr. David Henry officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Hospice Compassus or the First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Wanda L. Carrender, age 80 years, of  Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the  Jefferson City Manor Nursing Center.
Wanda was born November 23, 1930 in Tuscumbia, Mo. the daughter of Nile and Irene Duncan Blackburn. She was married on June 10, 1950 in Tuscumbia, Mo. to Alvin Leon Carrender, who preceded her in death on October 20, 1992.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Wanda graduated from Cole County R-5 High School in Eugene, Mo.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Hickory Hill Baptist Church in Hickory Hill, Mo.
Survivors include: one son, Randy Carrender and his wife Johnna of Henley, Mo.; two grandchildren, Ryan Carrender and his wife Sara of Henley, Mo. and Britney Owens of  Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Betty Ott of  Jefferson City, Mo; one brother, Charles “Buddy” Blackburn of Eugene, Mo.; and five great grandsons, Draven Barry Carrender, Traeger Joseph Carrender, Zaiden Randall Carrender, Drake William Owens, and Taylor Lee Surprenant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon; one son, Alvin Barry Carrender on May 27, 1968; and one sister, Peggy Hager.
Visitation will be at the Hickory Hill Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday, September 23, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Hickory Hill Baptist Church, Hickory Hill, Mo. with the Reverend Shane Crum officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at the Hickory Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Assn.

Mr. Kennard D. Autenrieth, age 75 years, of Tebbetts, Mo., died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Heisinger Bluffs.
Kennard was born September 25, 1935 in  Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Alfred E. and Viola C. “Carrie” Howard Autenrieth. He was married on May 14, 1956 in Mokane, Mo. to Maxie Stafford.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Kennard was a 1953 graduate of Mokane High School.
Kennard was a farmer on his farm near Tebbetts, Mo. for fifty-four years until his retirement in 2007.
He was a member of the Tebbetts United Methodist Church; a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Chapter 596 in Tebbetts; and was a past president of the Tebbetts Riverview Cemetery Board of Directors. Kennard enjoyed farming and trapping, playing cards, especially pitch and most importantly, spending time with his family.
Survivors include: his wife of fifty-five years, Maxie Autenrieth; one son, Kevin Autenrieth and his wife LeighAnn of Tebbetts, Mo.; one daughter, Kelli Stiles and her husband Phil of  Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Lena Mae Stock and her husband Calvin of Tebbetts, Mo.; six grandchildren, Karissa Autenrieth, Trey Walz, Andrew Stiles, Levi Autenrieth, Zachary Stiles, and Gage Autenrieth; one great grandchild, Kellen Autenrieth; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael D. Autenrieth in 1957; one sister, Mary Laverne Johnston in 1992; and one brother, Alfred W. “Sonny” Autenrieth in 2000.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon Friday, September 23, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Friday, September 23, 2011 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Larry Sapp officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at Riverview Cemetery near Tebbetts, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Tebbetts Riverview Cemetery Assn.

Mrs. Pauline Sherman, age 98 years, of Hanahan, SC, formerly of  Jefferson City, Mo. went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 22, 2011. She was born in Ripley County, outside of Oxly, Mo. on September 30, 1912 to James T. and Minnie B. Ormsby where she grew up helping her father on the family farm. She was one of nine children in the Ormsby family, having six brothers and two sisters. After two years of courtship mostly by letter that she had to retrieve by riding the family mule 2 miles to the post office, she was married on September 1, 1932 to Rev. Sam R. Sherman, a young Southern Baptist minister. They raised a family of five children, three girls and two boys. Sam died on May 16, 1968 in Chamois, Mo. where he was pastor of Chamois Baptist Church. After her husband’s death, Mrs. Sherman worked in the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home in St. Louis from 1968-1978 as a Cottage Mother for one of the boys’ homes. After retirement, she moved to  Jefferson City, Mo. where she continued to work part-time in a day care facility taking care of infants. She also worked for many years as a regular baby-sitter for Dr. John and Chris Krautmann’s five children. She was more like another Grandmother than a baby sitter and was known to their family as “Shermer. ”While living in  Jefferson City, she was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school in the children’s department for many years. In July 2007 at the age of 95, she moved to Hanahan, SC to live with her son and daughter-in-law John and Sondra Sherman where she became an active member of Highland Park Baptist Church becoming a mom and grandmother to many.
Among the loved ones mourning her death are her two sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Harriet Sherman and John and Sondra Sherman; two daughters and son-in-law, Joyce and Norman Orr and Carol Laughlin; son-in-law, Glen Alderman and his wife Shirley; grandchildren and their husbands and wives. Kim Orr and Brian Pourcho, Taylor and Cindy Orr, Teresa Sherman and Eddie Sowell, Lisa Sherman and Harry Roderick, Regina Sherman Ford, John Eric and Lisa Sherman, Philip Bacon; 12 great grandchildren; Dr. John and Chris Krautmann and their five children Jay, Meghan, Brett, Lauren, and Kurt; many nieces and nephews that she stayed in contact with over the years; all of her dear friends from Immanuel Baptist Church and the surrounding area; and her many new friends from Highland Park Baptist Church.
Mrs. Sherman was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Sam R. Sherman; parents, James T. and Minnie B. Ormsby; brothers, Virgil, John, Floyd, Merton, George, and Woodrow; sisters, Irene Vance and Bernice Byrd; daughter, Ferol Alderman; sisters-in-law, Ruth, Clara, Arlee, and Hattie Ormsby; brothers-in-law, Everett Byrd and Howard Vance; son-in-law, Bud Laughlin; and grandson-in-law, Curtis Ford. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Friday, September 30, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Reverend Shane Crum officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at Oakland Cemetery in Chamois, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions are suggested to Immanuel Baptist Church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

Mr. Jerry L. Renfro, age 73 years, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away on Friday, September 23, 2011 at his home.
He was born on August 20, 1938 in Princeton, Mo., a son of Harold and Audrey Lambert Renfro. He was married on August 28, 1960 in Fulton, Mo. to Kay Meador.
Jerry graduated from Princeton High School in 1956, he then went on to receive a masters degree in education from Northeast Missouri State University in 1963.
He was employed as a teacher with the Kirkwood School District for thirty years, retiring in 1992. After retirement, Jerry owned Renfro Painting Company.
He was a member of the Capital City Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include: his wife of fifty-one years, Kay Renfro of the home; his son, Kevin Renfro of Holts Summit, Mo.; his daughter, Cara Westman and her husband Mark of Louisville, KY; his sister, Joyce Trainer of Kansas City, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Lauryn Westman and Brendyn Westman.
Visitation will be held at Capital City Christian Church from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Capital City Christian Church with the Reverend Don Fankhauser officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Capital City Christian Church youth and childrens ministry.

Mr. Edward R. Hartman, age 57 years, of Greenbriar, Arkansas, a former  Jefferson City resident, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 near Pinebluff, Arkansas after a traffic accident.
Eddie was born June 16, 1954 in  Jefferson City, Mo. the son of John R., Sr. and Irmalene Crocker Hartman. His mother and step father, Irmalene and Allen Rudroff survive in California, Mo. He was married on March 28, 2009 in Conway, Arkansas to Evelyn McNeely.
A resident of the  Jefferson City area until 1980, Eddie attended  Jefferson City Public Schools.
He served in the United States Navy.
Eddie was a life long truck driver, most recently with the E. T. W. Enterprises in Morrilton, Arkansas for the last several years. He was a member of the Christian Church and enjoyed camping and the outdoors. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn Hartman of Greenbriar, Arkansas, one son, Travis Hartman and his wife Christy of Sparta, Mo.; one granddaughter, McCayla Hartman of Centertown, Mo.; five step-sons, Allen Frederick, William McNeely, Lewis McNeely, Michael McNeely, and D. J. Davis; two brothers, Bobby Hartman, and his special companion, Vickie Miller of Russellville, Mo. and Lonnie W. Hartman and his wife Mary Ann of Russellville, Mo.; his special buddy, Heath Amick of Centertown, Mo.; five step grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John R. Hartman, Sr., and one daughter, Alicia Marie Hartman on March 13, 1980.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:30 AM Monday, September 26, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 AM Monday, September 26, 2011 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Murl Nash officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Phyllis W. Busby, age 91 years, of  Jefferson City, MO passed away Friday, September 23, 2011, at St. Mary’s Health Center.
Phyllis was born on October 27, 1919, in Sacramento, CA to Dr. Chalmers E. and Ann E. Wolf West. She later graduated from Sacramento High School in 1936 and continued her education at the University of California – Chico, majoring in Home Economics and graduated in 1940.
With a degree in hand, Phyllis became a teacher of Home Economics in Sonora, CA. In September of 1942, she married longtime suitor, Douglas R. Busby, a marriage that lasted 53 years and ended only in death of Douglas on September 22, 1995.
At the time of their union, Douglas R. Busby was a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps. Through the course of their marriage, Phyllis and five children followed Douglas through 15 states, ranging across the US from Hawaii to New Hampshire. After her husband’s retirement from the Air Force, Phyllis and Douglas settled in Warrensburg, MO, and she continued immersing herself in her various passions. This included, volunteering in her community, i. e. Warrensburg Memorial Hospital Thrift Shop, PEO, Rotary International - Paul Harris Fellowship; supporting Missouri Mothers as the chapter President, Float Trips, Bridge Club, friends, and most importantly, family. There wasn’t an event that Phyllis didn’t attend: sporting events, concerts and recitals, graduations, birthdays, pageants, weddings, and the like.
We will remember Phyllis as the epitome of poise, style, and grace. She put her family, community, and country before herself. It is in her memory that we only aspire to emulate her legacy.
Survivors include: daughters, Candace R. Titus of Grand Rapids, MI and Susan C. Busby of  Jefferson City, MO; sons, James G. (Laura Dee) Busby of Overland Park, KS and William R. (Marilyn) Busby of Lenexa, KS; daughter-in-law, Judith Busby of  Jefferson City, Mo.; ten grandchildren, Eric Titus, Keith Titus, Courtney Titus, and Scott (Michelle) Titus, Angelea Busby and Nicholas Busby, Douglas R. (Elisha) Busby III, Brian (Jennie) Busby, Craig (JoAnn) Busby, and Steve Busby; six great grandchildren, Grace and Jacob Busby, Devin Dirnberger and Olivia Busby, Sophie and Luke Titus; nephew, Chalmers E. West III; niece, Cathy W. Beckstead; special friends, Gaston and Jeanette Dela Torre, DeeDee Flynn; and her dog, Putter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Col. (Ret. ) Douglas R. Busby, Sr.; son, Dr. Douglas R. Busby, Jr.; son-in-law, Peter Titus; and her brother, Chalmers E. West, Jr.
Visitation will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 324 Madison Street,  Jefferson City, MO from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Saturday, October 1, 2011.
Immediately following the visitation, a funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 1, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Rob Erickson and the Reverend Dr. David Henry officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to  Jefferson City Animal Shelter or the charity of the donor’s choice.
