Kenneth Coulson

Quincy, Ill.
July 31, 1935 - June 14, 2001

QUINCY, Ill. - Kenneth H. Coulson, 65, of Quincy, Ill., died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at Bethel Assembly of God. Pastor Barry Clair will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation was Sunday at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy.

Mr. Coulson was born July 31, 1935, in Key West, Fla., to James and Etta Knowles Coulson.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Coulson Koehler of Mendon, Ill., and Katherine Clifford of Quincy; five grandchildren, Brian Jones, Cory Koehler, Alex Clifford, Kristen Clifford and Cole Clifford; and six sisters, Mary Ann Klossing, Ruth Wellman, Betty Jean Hibbert, Linda Fusselman and Henrietta Gallaher, all of Quincy, and Judy Hibbert of Fowler, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter; one brother, James Coulson; and one sister, Shirley Boutilier.

Mr. Coulson was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.

Irene Rogers

Leonard
Sept. 8, 1910 - June 15, 2001

LEONARD - Irene Rogers, 90, of Leonard, died at approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at Clarence Care Center in Clarence.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Leonard Christian Church. The Rev. Jeff Anselmi will officiate. Burial will be at Garnett Cemetery north of Leonard.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services today at the church.

Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rogers was born Sept. 8, 1910, north of Leonard to Evert William and Opal Garnett Manuel.

She was married to Clifton Arvie Rogers on July 28, 1935, in Kirksville. He preceded her in death Sept. 25, 1973.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Almquist of Fremont, Neb.; one son, Jim Rogers of Leonard; four grandchildren, David Almquist, Bethany Almquist, Jaime Williams and Jordon Rogers; and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Rogers taught for approximately 50 years in rural schools in Iowa and Missouri.

She was a member of Leonard Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to Garnett Cemetery.

Arlene Kelley

Hannibal
March 17, 1949 - June 16, 2001

HANNIBAL - Arlene Kelley, 52, of Hannibal, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Levering Regional Healthcare Center in Hannibal.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Rev. Faye Vaughn will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kelley was born March 17, 1949, in Bowling Green to George and Bertha Willis Hobbs.

She was married to Arch M. Kelley on July 21, 1979, in Bowling Green. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Tyrone Hobbs of Hannibal; two daughters, Paula Hobbs of Hannibal and Teresa Hobbs of Des Moines, Iowa; two brothers, Carl Hobbs of Denver and Robert Hobbs of Des Moines; five sisters, Betty Gilkey of Des Moines, Mary McPike, Alice Talton, Rose Mayfield and her twin sister, Darlene Mayfield, all of Bowling Green; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Ruby Bell.

Mrs. Kelley was a member of White Rose Baptist Church in Bowling Green.

Pallbearers will be Gary Bell, Jerome McPike, Nathaniel Florence Jr., Merle Kelley, Aaron Mayfield and Shawn Talton.

Dorothy Grace Griffin

HANNIBAL - Dorothy Grace Griffin, 85, of Quincy, Ill., and formerly of Hannibal, died at 6:55 a.m. Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Funeral services are pending at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.

Bernetta Hirner

MONROE CITY - Bernetta Hirner, 96, of Monroe City and formerly of Hannibal, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Bishop-Davies Nursing Home in Hurst, Texas .

Funeral services are pending at Garner Funeral Home in Monroe City.

Nelson W. Shaver

Vandalia
May 23, 1932 - June 15, 2001

VANDALIA - Nelson W. Shaver, 69, of Vandalia, died at 5:55 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia. The Rev. Bob Hoehn will officiate. Burial will be at Vandalia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Shaver was born May 23, 1932, in Ralls County to Edward and Anna Mabel Audrey Shaver.

He was married to Clara B. Lybarger on Oct. 25, 1957, in Hannibal. She survives.

Also surviving are two sisters, Dolly Bailey and Opal Ralph, both of Hull, Ill.

The family wishes to include as survivors several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Shaver; and one sister, Lucille Young.

Mr. Shaver had worked in the tile grinding department at H/W Refractories in Vandalia for more than 17 years.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years.

He was a member of Mount Hope Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, camping, traveling and raising dogs and cats.

Pallbearers will be Russell Pope, John Wilson, Jamie Wilson, Joey Wilson, Brian Fuqua, Wayne Zumwalt, Mike Darr and Mike Morris.

Cyril L. Knuffman

Liberty, Ill.
Aug. 2, 1917 - June 14, 2001

QUINCY, Ill. - Cyril L. Knuffman, 83, of Liberty, Ill., died at 12:40 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2001, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Ill.

Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy and at 10 a.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty. Burial will be at St. Brigid Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with a prayer service at 6 p.m.

Mr. Knuffman was born Aug. 2, 1917, in Adams County to Joseph and Susie Lambert Knuffman.

He was married to Rita Schwartz on Nov. 12, 1941, in Liberty. She survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Cyril (Bud) D. Knuffman of Atlanta, Ill., Joseph Knuffman, Dennis Knuffman and Clint Knuffman, all of Liberty, and Rick Knuffman of Manville, Ill.; nine daughters, Doris Knuffman of Quincy, Judy Summers of Mendon, Ill., Sandra Mears of Hannibal, Rita Faye Vogelpohl of Pittsfield, Ill., Janice Wiemelt, Paula Peter and Michelle Ehrhardt, all of Liberty, Christine Knuffman of New Berlin, Ill., and Veronica Cole of Centreville, Va.; 32 grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Josie Knuffman; and two grandsons, Adam Summers and Zachary Summers.

Mr. Knuffman was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Brigid Church and Holy Name Society.

Milfred H. Terrill

Granbury, Texas

MONROE CITY - Milfred Hall Terrill, 89, of Granbury, Texas and formerly of Monroe City, died Monday, April 16, 2001, in Granbury.

A graveside memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Barkley Cemetery in New London. The Rev. Steve Goughnour will officiate.

Garner Funeral Home and Chapel of Monroe City is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Terrill was a longtime resident of Monroe City where his late wife, Virginia, owned and operated Terrill Shoe Store.
