HANNIBAL - Federico L. (Fred) Avila, 91, of Hannibal, died at 1:19 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2001, at Levering Regional Healthcare Center in Hannibal.
Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Father Mike Quinn will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Mr. Avila was born July 10, 1910, in the Philippines to Segurdo and Basilisa Logina Avila.
He was married to Feliza Deocareza in Bacon Sorsogon, Philippines in 1949. She preceded him in death in March 1977.
Survivors include five sons, Dr. Carlito Dominguez of Manila, Philippines, Rudy Dominquez of Dallas, Texas and Edgar Avila, Arthur Avila, and Mario Avila, all of Manila; two daughters, Freida Juliano of Hannibal and Blandina Dominguez of Dallas; two brothers, Joe Avila of the state of California and Francisco Avila of the Philippines; two sisters, Mercy Bailon and Betty Ramirez, both of the Philippines; and four grandchildren, Rhea Juliano, Roanne Juliano, Ryan Juliano and Jamie Dominguez.
The family wishes to include as survivors, three daughters-in-law, Letty Dominguez, Zorina Dominguez and Mary Gil Avila; and one son-in-law, Roly Juliano.
Mr. Avila served as a civilian employee for the U.S. Government as a crane mechanic during World War II and was a survivor of the death march. He worked and retired as a crane mechanic and was a member of Holy Family Church.

Ron J. Singleton
Troy
Jan. 22, 1944-June 9, 2002
TROY - Ron J. Singleton, 58, of Troy, died June 9, 2002, at Lincoln County Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Troy. The Rev. Thomas W. Larson will officiate. Burial will be at Troy City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home in Troy and from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Singleton was born Jan. 22, 1944, in Lincoln County to James F. and Mildred M. Singleton.
He and his wife, Janice Ann, were married June 12, 1965, in O'Fallon. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Bob (Laura) Singleton of Maryland Heights and Davis Singleton of St. Louis; one sister, Delores (Bud) Branscum of Troy; his mother-in-law, Martha Wolf of Troy; one sister-in-law, Nancy Davis of Troy; one brother-in-law, Don (Denise) Wolf of Elsberry; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Singleton was produce department manager at the Kroger store in Troy for many years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the United Food & Commercial Workers Union.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday School or PALS, in care of the funeral home.
Garnett Culwell
Vandalia
Oct. 30, 1906-June 8, 2002
VANDALIA - Garnett Culwell, 95, of rural Vandalia, died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia. The Rev. Lew Scheffler will officiate. Burial will be at Vandalia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Culwell was born Oct. 30, 1906, on the family farm to Herman and Maggie Bell Culwell.
He was married to Amanda Lee Mitchell on April 24, 1949, in Mexico. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Joy Davis and her husband Rennie of Vandalia; one brother, James C. Culwell of Desoto; two grandchildren, Mary Davis and J.C. Davis; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother; one brother; and two sisters.
Mr. Culwell had farmed all his life on the family farm south of Vandalia.

Mildred P. Lilly
Monroe City
March 1, 1924-June 8, 2002
MONROE CITY - Mildred Pauline Lilly, 78, of Monroe City, died at 1:01 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Garner Funeral Chapel in Monroe City. The Rev. Glen Heying will officiate. Burial will be at Andrew Chapel Cemetery in Marion County.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lilly was born March 1, 1924, in Marion County to John T. and Eva Irene Cruser Calvert.
She was married to Joseph Brenard Botkins on May 20, 1942, in Paris. He died Dec. 17, 1986. She was married to Herman B. Lilly on Jan. 8, 1972, in Monroe City. He died Aug. 16, 1981.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Kirtley of Clarence and Eva Mae Edwards and husband Jerry of Monroe City; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul E. Calvert of Austin, Texas ; and one stepson, Gerry W. Lilly of Hannibal.
Mrs. Lilly was a member of Oakland Baptist Church in Ralls County. She attended Davis School and Emden School. She worked for many years for Henderson Produce Co. of Monroe City and Boron Turkey Factory of Shelbina. She also worked for the Green Thumb, Head Start and the Sheltered Workshop of Monroe City. She was a volunteer for Monroe City Nutrition Center.
Memorials may be made to Monroe City Nutrition Center.
Pallbearers will be Travis Gosney, Mike Ratliff, Ed Ratliff, Ken Ratliff, Jordan Botkins, Tommy Botkins, B.J. Botkins and Joe Quinn.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Anne O. Hagood
Hannibal
Sept. 25, 1915 - June 6, 2002
HANNIBAL - Anne O'Connor Hagood, 86, of Hannibal, died at 1:47 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002, at her home, surrounded by her family, after a lengthy illness.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 10, at Holy Family Church in Hannibal. Father Mike Quinn will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.
Mrs. Hagood was born Sept. 25, 1915, in Hannibal to Lewis and Bridget Drew O'Connor.
She was married to Scotty Haugh in December of 1941. He preceded her in death in August of 1961. She was later married to Don Hagood in April of 1983. He survives.
Other survivors include five children, Lewis Haugh and his wife, Lynn, of Hannibal, John Haugh and his wife, Candy, of Valparaiso, Ind., Laura Dennison and her husband, Buzz, of Quincy, Ill., Claire Haugh of Seattle, Wash., and Margaret Fournie and her husband, Jack, of Pensacola, Fla.; three stepchildren, Steve Hagood and his wife, Carolyn, of Quincy, Jack Hagood and his wife, Iris, of Omaha, Neb., and Sally Blickhan and her husband, Mike, of Quincy; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Lewis O'Connor; and two sisters, Irene O'Connor and Margaret Frier.
Mrs. Hagood was a graduate of McCooey High School in Hannibal. She was a member of Holy Family Church. She was an avid bridge player and loved rabbits and big band music.
Pallbearers will be Scott Dennison, Casey Dennison, Drew Dennison, Tom Frier, Jim Frier, Albert Frier and John Fournie.

E. Leroy Clarke
Shelbina
Jan. 30, 1921 - June 6, 2002
SHELBINA - E. Leroy Clark, 81, of Shelbina, died at approximately 4:20 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002, at the Monroe Manor Care Center in Paris.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Chapel in Shelbina. The Rev. Virgil Clow will officiate. Burial will be at Shelbina Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home. Masonic Services will be at 7:30 p.m. today.
Mr. Clarke was born Jan. 30, 1921, in Ten Mile, Mo., to Harry Raymond and Mary Catherine Waddell Clarke.
He was married to Frances A. O'Toole on June 28, 1941, in Moberly. She survives.
Other survivors include two children, Catherine Ann Wheeler of Decatur, Ill., and Dr. Lane L. Clarke of Columbia; three grandchildren, Ashllee Ann Wheeler of Decatur, and Justin L. and Allison J. Clarke, both of Columbia; and one brother, Loyd Clarke and his wife Ethel of Macon.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Kenneth and Vesper Clarke.
